After missing three games with an ankle injury she suffered during practice on May 26, Kelsey Plum is expected to return for the Los Angeles Sparks’ game against the Dallas Wings on Friday.

The Sparks are hosting the Wings for their second game in Commissioner’s Cup at Crypto.com Arena. Los Angeles listed Plum as “probable” for Friday’s game, and Plum was a full-participant in Thursday’s practice.

“I thought she looked great, but it’s not up to me, that’s the medical team,” Sparks coach Lynne Roberts said, per the Orange County Register. “Hopefully, she can play.”

Plum did not travel with the team for their road games against the Washington Mystics and Connecticut Sun. Instead, she did a lot of rehab, including sleeping in a hyperbaric chamber and undergoing red light therapy, according to the Orange County Register.

“I’m not going to try to blow it out of proportion,” Plum said, per the Orange County Register, “but I spent, there’s a reason I didn’t travel because I felt like if I got those four or five days to try to really lock in here and see if I could get my swelling and bruising down, try to get everything rolling back, I’d have a chance to play sooner than later, so I threw the kitchen sink at it. I’ve been working. I better be in better shape than I was before, I’ll tell you that.”

Getting Plum Back Will Be A Big Boost For the Sparks

The Sparks lost two of their three games without Plum, falling in back-to-back games to the Sun and Las Vegas Aces. The return of the four-time WNBA All-Star and two-time WNBA champion will be a big advantage for Los Angeles.

“(Plum) is the engine,” Roberts said, per the Orange County Register. “She makes everything go. We’ve sputtered a little bit, but part of that is on me. We had to clean some things up offensively, simplify almost in a way, but (Thursday‘s practice) looked good.”

Plum has averaged 26.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists and has shot a career-high 58.9 percent from the field across six games this season.
