Samsung’s iPhone Ultra fear: Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra may launch this Summer

Samsung is readying three foldable phones for the Summer Unpacked event, and one of the two book-type models may launch as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.

Last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 will be getting successors this year, and the company is also working on another book-type foldable, which reportedly features a passport-style form factor with a wider display.

It was widely expected that this wider model could be called Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide or simply the Galaxy Z Fold Wide. Meanwhile, Samsung appears to have finalized the branding, which incorporates an Ultra surprise.

Our friends over at SamMobile report that Samsung could launch the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. The branding shift is noticeable as the branding decision isn’t the same as we’re expecting for the devices.

Galaxy Z Fold 7’s sequel is getting an Ultra identity

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 would arrive as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. It will succeed last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7, with the company tagging an Ultra tag along.

The wide-screen model is expected to be marketed as the Galaxy Z Fold 8. It’s completely different than what we’ve heard and almost every Samsung fan expected.

Samsung’s decision is strategic as the Wide model is coming as a preemptive model to compete with the first foldable iPhone from Apple, potentially launching as iPhone Ultra later this year.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is bringing some notable upgrades over its predecessor, including a bigger battery (5,000mAh), faster charging (45W), and a high-res ultrawide camera (50-megapixel).

Last year’s Fold model sold so well compared to previous foldable models. Now with some Ultra-level upgrades, it’s shaping up to enter the market with an Ultra identity.
