Samsung is testing One UI 9.0 (Android 17) for these 18 Galaxy devices

Samsung is internally testing Android 17-based One UI 9.0 software for various Galaxy devices. This activity is running in parallel to the Open Beta Program. The public beta update is exclusively available for the Galaxy S26 series.

One UI 9.0 update will bring Android 17 to Samsung devices. The official debut is set for late July, while the rollout will take a few more weeks to start. Samsung will first prioritize new devices rather than sharing software advancements.

Samsung picked mid-May as the timeline to announce and start the One UI 9 Beta Program. As of the third week of June, the company has already rolled out three Beta builds to Galaxy S26 users in six countries around the world.

Open Beta Program

  1. Galaxy S26
  2. Galaxy S26+
  3. Galaxy S26 Ultra

Samsung will keep the Beta Program limited to its latest flagship devices. Meanwhile, the internal testing has already started for plenty of models. It includes phones from the S series, foldables from the Z series, and tablets from the Tab series.

What’s more, some Galaxy A Series phones have also joined the party. The internal testing is expanding to unexpected models, including the budget ones. The pace is fast, and Samsung is gearing up for a faster rollout.

Internal Testing Stage

Galaxy S Series

  1. Galaxy S25
  2. Galaxy S25+
  3. Galaxy S25 Ultra
  4. Galaxy S24
  5. Galaxy S24+
  6. Galaxy S24 Ultra
  7. Galaxy S23
  8. Galaxy S23+
  9. Galaxy S23 Ultra

Galaxy Z Series

  1. Galaxy Z Fold 7
  2. Galaxy Z Flip 7

Galaxy A Series

  1. Galaxy A57
  2. Galaxy A56
  3. Galaxy A34
  4. Galaxy A17
  5. Galaxy A16

Galaxy Tab S Series

  1. Galaxy Tab S11
  2. Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra

The list is broad enough yet incomplete. Samsung will add even more Galaxy models to its internal software testing streak. Beta Program may open for more users, but it would only happen after the Summer Galaxy Unpacked event.

Samsung launches new Phishing App Risk Alert with One UI 9

Samsung introduced a new Phishing App Risk Alert feature, which will be available on Galaxy devices with the One UI 9 update in the latter half of the year.

The company has spent years bolting security features onto Galaxy devices; One UI 9 is where it stops being reactive. The headline change is how Phishing App Risk Alert now works.

Before, the system blocked the installation of known malicious apps. Starting with One UI 9.0, if an app is confirmed malicious after installation, the system blocks it from running entirely and pushes users to delete it.

Samsung says thatΒ if you receive a suspicious voice phishing call and then install an app within a few hours, or if an app gets installed via remote control, the system will flag it the moment you try to open it.

Starting with One UI 9.0, which will be installed on new smartphone models launching in the second half of this year, the β€œPhishing App Risk Alert” feature will be significantly reinforced. Beyond just blocking the installation of phishing apps, it will also block the execution of already-installed apps if they are confirmed to be malicious.

The One UI 9 official version would debut with the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 series next month. That said, the new Samsung feature will roll out first with the upcoming foldable phones, followed by a general expansion.

Samsung pulls fraud app lists directly from the National Police Agency. Additionally, the Galaxy Store’s reputation data gets queried at installation.

Korea’s National Forensic Service and KISA are also looped in for regular Security Policy Updates, which now let Galaxy S26 owners choose their preferred network for real-time policy syncing.

South Korea recorded 23,360 voice phishing cases in 2025, with financial losses totaling roughly $1.06 billion. The Malicious Message Blocking feature, built with KCC and KISA, has blocked 400 million malicious messages since September 2024.
