Samsung is preparing a meaningful update for its Voice Recorder app as One UI 9 approaches its official debut.

The upcoming version introduces Cloud transcription for more accurate AI-generated transcripts, recording conversion, a dedicated storage management section, and a couple of interface refinements. The update is currently being tested and is expected to arrive alongside an upcoming One UI 9 Beta release.

What’s new in Samsung Voice Recorder with One UI 9?

While Samsung Voice Recorder already benefits from Galaxy AI capabilities, the upcoming update expands those features in ways that should make it more useful for everyday recording, interviews, meetings, and lectures.

1. The biggest addition is Cloud transcription.

Until now, Voice Recorder generated transcripts exclusively using on-device AI, while cloud processing was limited to creating recording summaries.

With One UI 9, users will be able to upload recordings to Samsung’s servers and generate transcripts using cloud-based AI, which Samsung says delivers better accuracy, as per SamMobile.

2. Another feature under development is recording conversion.

Samsung hasn’t shared many details yet, but the option appears to allow exporting recordings in different audio formats.

Since Voice Recorder currently saves files in the M4A format by default, support for formats such as MP3 or WAV would make sharing recordings with other apps and devices much easier.

3. Dedicated Manage storage section

Samsung is also introducing a dedicated Manage storage section inside the app. It automatically groups recordings into categories like Large recordings, Short recordings, Old recordings, and Spam/scam calls.

4. The interface is receiving a light polish as well.

a. Playing a recording directly from the recordings list will now display an animated waveform instead of the simple progress bar currently shown.

b. The settings page has also been cleaned up, with descriptive text moved below each toggle rather than inside the setting cards, giving the layout a tidier appearance.

The updated Voice Recorder app remains in testing. Samsung is expected to release it within the next couple of weeks, possibly alongside the next One UI 9 Beta.
