The Czech Republic is guaranteed to crown a Wimbledon champion on Saturday as compatriots Linda Noskova and Karolina Muchova go head-to-head in the women’s singles final. Few could argue that the WTA duo isn’t deserving of their spots in the Center Court crescendo, where a first-time Grand Slam-winner will emerge, no matter what.

No. 10 seed Muchova hung on to defeat America’s last title hope, Coco Gauff, with an excruciating third-set tiebreak on Thursday. The only drawback of that result is that the 29-year-old appeared to be struggling with an injury in the match’s latter stages, though she has since confirmed all is fine heading into the final.

Whether that’s out of desperation to not show weakness to Noskova, only time will tell, as former French Open runner-up Muchova looks to get her hands on Grand Slam gold. Ninth seed Noskova, meanwhile, will become the youngest Wimbledon women’s finalist since an up-and-coming Eugenie Bouchard made it to the decider in 2014.

This will be the first time in history that two women from the Czech Republic have contested Wimbledon’s singles final, which is a major milestone for such a rich tennis nation. However, any allegiances will be temporarily put to one side, with Noskova seeking revenge after Muchova triumphed in their only previous matchup at last year’s U.S. Open.

Arevalo and Pavic defeated the defending Wimbledon champions Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool in the quarterfinals.

Heliovaara and Patten were the 2024 champions of this event, taking down Max Purcell and Jordan Thompson in the final. Meanwhile, Pavic won this event in 2021 while paired with Nikola Mektic, while Arevalo is the lone player in this final without a Wimbledon doubles title to his name.

Coco Gauff is just one more win from making the Wimbledon singles’ final for the first time in her career when she faces Karolina Muchova on Thursday. America’s last remaining contender at this year’s Championships will feature in the second of two semifinals after Marta Kostyuk faces Linda Noskova earlier in the day.

The women will take center stage at SW19 on Thursday now that the singles’ competitions are down to the very cream of the crop. Gauff, 23, is already enjoying her career-best run at the London Grand Slam after beating Jessica Pegula from a set down to make the final four and is now the highest remaining seed at No. 7.

However, a win for Muchova could set the stage for an all-Czech final if her compatriot and ninth seed Noskova manages to overcome Kostyuk. Wimbledon fans have become accustomed to Kostyuk’s trademark twirl following her wins at SW19, but she faces a huge task in earning her right to perform another on Thursday.

Each of these semifinalists has dropped just two sets en route to this stage, though Kostyuk and Noskova each powered past respective quarterfinal foes Jasmine Paolini and Elise Mertens in straight sets. It will be of particular interest to see which serving juggernaut can be thrown off their rhythm, with Ukraine’s Kostyuk looking all but unstoppable in her 6-3, 6-2 rout of former Wimbledon finalist Paolini.
