St. Joseph-Ogden, Routt Catholic punch tickets to state baseball

CENTRAL ILLINOIS (WCIA) – Two WCIA-local teams are heading to state in IHSA baseball.

Tuesday saw Super-Sectional action in many spots across the state of Illinois, after weather forced several postponements on Monday.

In 2A, St. Joseph-Ogden beat Williamsville 9-0 to advance to the state semifinals. The Spartans and Bullets met on Lincoln Land’s campus in Springfield. In the same location, Routt Catholic, out of Jacksonville, beat Nokomis 8-5 to advance to the 1A semifinals.

Elsewhere in 1A, playing in Bloomington, Armstrong-Potomac fell to Tremont 9-1.

1A and 2A state baseball is set to take place on the campus of the University of Illinois, at Illinois Field in Champaign.

Semifinals are Friday, June 12, followed by championship games and third place contests on Saturday.

SJO will play Ottawa-Marquette at 7 p.m. on Friday. Routt Catholic will play Tremont at 10 a.m.
