Milwaukee Brewers: Jacob Misiorowski and Kyle Harrison have already made MLB history

The Milwaukee Brewers, once again, are proving that the National League Central Division runs through them. With their 8-3 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday night, Milwaukee improved to 37-21 on the season and lead the NL Central by 5.5 games.

As has been the case for the last several years, the Brewers have been led primarily by their stellar pitching staff. Indeed, Milwaukee’s pitching has led them to three consecutive division titles and has played a large role in their regular season success.

But this year’s staff, led by Jacob Misiorowski and Kyle Harrison, is on an entirely higher level.

Misiorowski, of course, has been getting a great deal of attention due to his high strikeout numbers and incredible fastball. No other pitcher in Major League history has thrown 100+ mph more frequently than he has this season.

Harrison, who was acquired via trade before the season started, has burst onto the scene as one of the most dominating pitchers in the game. On Tuesday night, he faced the Giants, his original team who gave up on him, and went 5.2 innings while allowing a run on four hits and two walks and striking out 12.

Now, Harrison’s ERA sits at 1.57, which is actually lower than Misiorowski’s sparkling 1.65 ERA. In any case, they are the first pair of teammates (starters) in MLB history to have sub-2.00 ERA’s while striking out more than 11 batters per nine innings in the month of June:

So far this season:

Jacob Misiorowski: 1.65 ERA, 13.69 K/9
Kyle Harrison: 1.57 ERA, 11.46 K/9

Since ERA became official in both leagues in 1913, no other MLB team has had 2 pitchers with a sub-2.00 ERA & 11.00+ K/9 at the end of any day in June or later (min. 10 starts each). pic.twitter.com/BN5G9hiy1i

Misiorowski is 6-2 on the year with that 1.65 ERA and leads the Majors in WHIP (0.79), strikeouts (108), and strikeouts per nine innings (13.7).

After his performance on Tuesday night, Harrison is 7-1 with that 1.57 ERA. He also has 73 strikeouts in just 57.1 innings and a 1.03 WHIP.
