Samsung has begun rolling out the One UI 8.5-based July 2026 update across Galaxy S and Galaxy Z phones this week. Starting with the Galaxy S26 series, several Samsung flagships and foldables have begun grabbing the latest security patches. The initial deployment has begun, and the expansion will run throughout the month.

July 2026 update brings 57 patches to Samsung devices. Among the total vulnerability items, 41 are provided by Google, while the remaining 16 come from Samsung. These improvements ensure a peak level of reliability on Galaxy phones, foldables, and tablets.

July 9 rollout

Samsung released the July update for Galaxy S26 series, Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, and Galaxy Z TriFold. The S25 lineup included the Galaxy S25 Edge and Galaxy S25 FE (Fan Edition) variants as well.

Galaxy S24 series also joined the update party on July 15. The OTA dropped in South Korea, while Global expansion would take a couple of days.

Samsung is expected to provide the July patches to even more users over the next couple of days. The next contenders are the Galaxy S23 series, as well as the foldables and tablets released in 2025 and 2024.

We will see various mid-range and budget phones joining the rollout. Select A series phones receive new updates every month, while others get OTAs every quarter.

Samsung is rolling out a big 1.5GB software update to Galaxy XR headset users. It follows the release of the February 2026 patch in May 2026. The latest OTA has the June 2026 patch, not the latest, but a significant bump.

Since the April update, Galaxy XR users have been dealing with a frustrating and unacceptable stability issue that turned the device into a stuttering mess due to a memory leak.

A new update, version I610UEU2AZD8, is rolling out, and it directly targets the memory leak that has been crippling the Galaxy XR experience.

The confirmation comes via Google’s XR community team, with Grace outlining that the patch focuses on system stability and performance improvements based on user feedback.

The memory leak caused various issues such as frame rates diving, tracking becoming unreliable, and thermals beginning to creep up as the system struggles to compensate.

To Google’s credit, the response time has been relatively quick once the issue gained traction. The lack of a detailed changelog is disappointing, especially for a problem this severe, but the intent is clear.

Meanwhile, early feedback from the community is mixed. Tracking hitches are gone and overall responsiveness feels tighter. However, there are fresh concerns emerging, particularly around Virtual Desktop usage.

Some users are seeing corrupted or garbled frames when moving the cursor between virtual displays. It’s not widespread yet, but it’s enough to keep a close eye on.

Samsung has now started expanding the July 2026 security update to Galaxy S26 series users globally. The latest software comes with PDA build version ending with AZG5 and weighs around 555 megabytes (MB).

Last week, Samsung detailed its July security patch. The SMR comes with 41 CVE items for Android and 16 SVE items for One UI. That said, the complete package brings 57 security improvements to Galaxy smartphones.

Besides the July 2026 update, the Galaxy S26 series is currently testing One UI 9.0, based on Android 17. It has installed three beta software updates, which slightly changed the experience, but a major addition is still awaited. Moreover, the company is now heading toward the 4th beta, releasing next week.
