Two major upgrades confirmed for the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 smartwatch

5 July 2026 at 11:53

Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is launching this month, and it will continue on the base that derives from the first-generation added with two major upgrades.

Based on leaked design schematics, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 looks identical to the first-gen smartwatch, but its new features are worth looking forward to.

Big battery

It was reported that the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will pack a bigger battery. Specifically, the Ultra 2 is rated at 784mAh capacity, upgrading from 590mAh in the first-generation.

According to Samsung, the existing watch offers up to 60 hours of standby with AOD enabled. So, the new Watch should go about 80 hours with the improved battery. This is a huge upgrade, one which will greatly extend the battery life.

Brighter display

The Watch Ultra 2 display will be brighter, providing 5,000 nits peak brightness. This will surpass even the display of the Fold 8 Ultra, which may touch 3600 nits for the internal display.

This much brightness will allow users to get the on-screen content visible in outdoor conditions, making it extremely useful. Behind the scenes, it might be the result of Samsung’s on-cell film OLED panel. Offering improved visibility for small display devices such as smartwatches.

Also, the display size is likely to remain the same as the first Watch Ultra, but the brightness will definitely make it one of the key selling points.

Conclusion

Of course, these upgrades won’t come to the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 at the old price. Samsung has reportedly increased its price to 749 euros, up 50 euros. However, new customers could savor its new capabilities as a trade-off.
