Sources: Unsettled Newcastle United star has three suitors as transfer “expected”

18 June 2026 at 11:36

Newcastle United have been the focus of a lot of the biggest transfer stories so far this summer as Anthony Gordon has left for Barcelona while interest in Sandro Tonali, Tino Livramento, and Lewis Hall continues.

On top of that, another major sale from St James’ Park this summer could be Nick Woltemade, with my sources informing me about three clubs showing a concrete interest in the Germany international, as first reported via the Daily Briefing.

It’s no secret that Woltemade struggled in his first season for Newcastle, and my understanding is that there have been some differences in opinion between himself and Eddie Howe about his best position and role in the team.

Nick Woltemade surely leaving Newcastle after difficult debut season

Woltemade’s spell at Newcastle is now seen as being highly likely to be a short one, and my understanding is that Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid, and Aston Villa are all keeping an eye on his situation.

There have not been any formal contacts yet, but there’s the sense that these clubs could make approaches soon, with Newcastle open to offers.

“Nick Woltemade is expected to leave,” one source with ties to the agents industry told me. “Dortmund, Atletico Madrid, and Villa are interested, and Newcastle will listen to offers. One issue, though, is that they’re keen on a permanent sale for around €65m, but for now it’s probably more likely that clubs will seek a loan with an option to buy.”

Big clubs like Bayern Munich were keen on Woltemade before he made the move to Newcastle, which was seen as a real coup for the Magpies at the time.

It could still be that the 24-year-old can revive his career, but it’s unlikely to happen for him in Howe’s tactical set-up.

“Woltemade’s camp have not been entirely happy with how his development’s been handled under Howe,” one source said.

“The manager has given slightly mixed messages about his best position, initially saying he sees him as a number 9 but then using him in midfield. I’m just not sure there’s a future there without a more fixed tactical plan and proper clarity about what the manager wants from him.”

It’s worth noting that other sources played this down and simply suggested that Woltemade’s struggles have not been anything abnormal and can mostly be put down to adapting to a new league and country.

Almost everyone I’ve spoken to, however, thinks it’s inevitable that they’ll go their separate ways this summer.

“Want him in my team” – Premier League’s top six told to sign exceptional rising star

17 June 2026 at 15:30

Alex Scott is in demand from multiple Premier League teams and Stan Collymore has backed him to be one of the top midfielders.

If you enjoy CaughtOffside coverage and want to see more of it, add us as a preferred source on Google to make us a favourite and see more of our content.

After an exceptional season for Andoni Iraola’s thrilling Bournemouth, Alex Scott is a man in demand.

The Cherries’ big task this summer was to persuade their all action midfielder to sign a new deal, but he’s more than aware that that would ruin his leverage, meaning he’s so far resisted.

Scott in demand from multiple Premier League competitors

Former Liverpool player and Aston Villa fan Stan Collymore is convinced that both teams he’s associated with will be in for Scott this summer, along with plenty of others:

“If I was any of the top six or seven teams, I would want him in my team,” Collymore said, complimenting Scott’s “lateral movement.”

“There are few players who can do what he does, especially getting out of tight spaces. There’s no doubt about his ability, and that was shown in his involvement with the England squad during the friendlies.”

One would imagine the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal could also be keen on the rising star. All eyes are on him and his talks with Bournemouth. If no deal is made, expect bids to come in.

In other news…

Tottenham are keen to improve their team drastically this summer, no matter how much it costs them.

Morgan Rogers could be on the move this summer – but Arsenal will need him to start pushing for a move himself as they try to bring down a potentially massive transfer fee.

What Premier League giants need Morgan Rogers to do to get a £100m transfer underway

17 June 2026 at 14:30

Arsenal want Morgan Rogers and are waiting for the Aston Villa attacker to start to push for a move himself.

If you enjoy CaughtOffside coverage and want to see more of it, add us as a preferred source on Google to make us a favourite and see more of our content.

Arsenal have very patiently built up a very good squad, and after a season where they won the league and reached the Champions League final, it seems they’re willing to let loose a little bit.

A report from TeamTalk says that the Gunners are really focused on Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa, and there is a “growing belief” that the England attacker will “make clear his strong preference to join the Gunners this summer.”

They speculate that such a deal could “set a new club record” as it would cost them more than £100m.

Arsenal need Rogers to open door to transfer

There is no doubt that, despite an impressive season, the Gunners need more creativity and more consistency in attack. Their race to the title would have been a lot easier had they scored some more goals.

Rogers will be expensive – but Arsenal can afford to buy from the top shelf now. All eyes are on the player, who will need to start agitating post-World Cup if he wants a move.

In other news…

Luka Vuskovic is a name which is going to become very familiar to a lot of people this summer as a number of Premier League teams try to sign him.

The first big deal of the summer is yet to come – but some teams fear a huge move for the likes of Elliot Anderson moving could reset the summer market.

Chelsea sound out Premier League winger as transfer interest gets serious

17 June 2026 at 13:16

Chelsea have reportedly got a serious interest in Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye as they have sounded him out as a summer transfer target.

The Blues have also been targeting Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers, but it looks like a deal is unlikely for now due to Arsenal being in a stronger position.

This, according to Simon Phillips, has led Chelsea to look at Ndiaye as another option to strengthen their attack.

The Senegal international impressed in the Premier League in the season just gone, contributing six goals and three assists.

Admittedly, those numbers aren’t exactly outstanding, but those who’ve watched him play will also know that the stats don’t tell the whole story.

Iliman Ndiaye would add quality and experience for Chelsea

Ndiaye is a technically gifted player with real elegance and flair, while he’s also a lot more experienced and proven in the Premier League than the players Chelsea have often signed under this ownership.

The 26-year-old could be a welcome change from some of the Blues’ recent signings, who have so often been quite underwhelming and unable to cope with the pressure of playing for such a big club at such a young age.

Ndiaye looks ready to make the step up after impressing at Everton, and there’s every chance he could improve on his goal and assist numbers if he were able to slot into an attack-minded team with quality around him.

Chelsea will hope that will be the kind of platform they can provide players under new manager Xabi Alonso next season.

Signings will also be key, however, to helping Alonso become a success at Stamford Bridge, with the Spanish tactician showing what he’s capable of during his time as Bayer Leverkusen manager, though he struggled with the rather more chaotic situation at Real Madrid in the first half of last season.

Marcus Rashford opens door to Manchester United stay after Barcelona clause expires

16 June 2026 at 17:42

England forward Marcus Rashford is no doubt focusing on the World Cup, as his side prepares to face Croatia in their opening game in the United States. When he returns from the Americas, he will have to deal with his future, which remains shrouded in uncertainty.

The 28-year-old will not have failed to notice that Barcelona have allowed their €30m buy option to expire, meaning he is on track to begin preseason at Old Trafford. Rashford has expressed a desire to stay at Barcelona, and Hansi Flick reportedly was keen on keeping him too, but after the signing of Anthony Gordon, the Blaugrana seem less certain they want to move for him. Nevertheless, they are yet to rule it out entirely, but Rashford is not seen as a priority.

As reported by The Athletic, Rashford would prefer to remain at Manchester United this summer, than join any other sides in the Premier League. Currently he has a £40m release clause that any side can activate, barring Liverpool and Manchester City, and other Premier League sides have expressed interest in him – former loan side Aston Villa have been linked to him on a number of occasions since. Rashford has two years left on his United deal, and it seemed he would be on the move again this summer, but for the first time, it has been suggested he would stay at the club.

Manchester United want to sell Marcus Rashford after Barcelona chose not to trigger his €30m option to buy. Clause expired on Monday.

As it stands, Rashford set to return to pre-season training with Manchester United after the World Cup.

Nevertheless, Rashford is not on the agenda at Old Trafford. MEN say that manager Michael Carrick was keen to reintegrate Rashford, but after holding talks with the leadership group, there are no plans to bring him back into the fold. It seems Manchester United will pursue a permanent sale for Rashford, be it to Barcelona or not.

Aston Villa handed transfer boost as Newcastle face difficult winger decision

16 June 2026 at 09:53

Aston Villa could have an interesting transfer opportunity this summer, with Newcastle United winger Harvey Barnes reportedly keen on a move to Villa Park ahead of the new season.

According to Football Insider, the 28-year-old would be happy to join Villa, with former Villa chief executive Keith Wyness suggesting the player’s family situation could also play a part in any potential move.

That gives Villa a useful boost, especially as Unai Emery looks to add more pace, goals and Premier League experience to his squad.

Barnes feels like a very Emery-style target. He is direct, sharp in transition and already proven in English football.

He may not be the flashiest name on the market, but he knows the league, can play off the left and has a strong record of scoring from wide areas.

Newcastle United do not want to weaken

The problem for Villa is Newcastle’s stance. A separate report from Football Insider claims Eddie Howe wants to keep Barnes and views him as an important player for next season, especially after Anthony Gordon’s departure.

That makes the situation complicated. Newcastle may need to reshape their squad, but selling another attacking player would create a new problem.

Barnes is currently one of their most natural left-sided options, and Howe will not want to lose him unless the offer is too good to reject.

A move that could suit Aston Villa perfectly

For Aston Villa, this is still one to watch closely.

Barnes joined Newcastle from Leicester in 2023 and remains under contract until 2028, according to Transfermarkt, so Newcastle are in a strong position.

However, Villa can offer an ambitious project, European football and a manager who has a clear attacking structure.

Barnes also showed his quality last season, including a match-winning double against Manchester City, as reported by Reuters.

Villa have encouragement from the player’s side, but Newcastle still hold the power. This could come down to price.

Liverpool overtake Man United in race for €50m breakout forward

14 June 2026 at 14:00

Liverpool are leading the race for the signature of Aston Villa and Manchester United attacking target Bazoumana Toure.

Bazoumana Toure enjoyed an impressive campaign in the Bundesliga last time out. He is considered one of the most exciting talents in Germany, and a number of clubs are now keen on prising him away from TSG Hoffenheim.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Liverpool have leapfrogged Manchester United and Aston Villa in their pursuit of the signature of the Ivorian international. He is valued at around €40-50 million, which shouldn’t be a problem for any of the interested English clubs.

Bazoumana Toure is a top target for Liverpool

Toure joined the German outfit at the start of 2025 and has since established himself as a key figure in the team. He was one of their best players last season, as he finished with five goals and 12 assists in his 30 league outings.

The 20-year-old is equally effective on either flank. While he is clinical in the final third, Toure loves creating chances for those around him. He is a complete package in the sense that he is lightning quick, can create, dribble, and score.

His immense potential has attracted interest from several English clubs. Liverpool are one of the clubs that have expressed interest in the youngster. They struggled in wide areas last season, and with Mohamed Salah leaving, they seek more quality on the flanks.

The Reds could look to use Cody Gakpo more centrally and deploy the 20-year-old on the left flank, or he could even replace Salah on the right. He is certainly an interesting option for the Merseyside club, who are looking to build for the future.

Manchester United and Aston Villa are also keen on Toure

They are already ahead of Manchester United and Aston Villa, who are also keen on his signature. The clubs are set to feature in the Champions League next season and are looking to add depth in multiple positions, including out wide on the flanks.

The Red Devils are looking for more competition for their current options, while Villa see him as a potential replacement for Jadon Sancho, who is unlikely to stay at the club beyond his loan spell.
