Update: Contacts held as clubs queue up to sign Arsenal star, including Man Utd & Newcastle

15 July 2026 at 20:22

Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli is reportedly attracting transfer interest from as many as five clubs as he could be on the move this summer.

The Brazil international has perhaps not developed quite as well as many at Arsenal will have expected, scoring only one league goal for the entire 2025/26 campaign.

Martinelli fared better in Europe, scoring six goals in 14 Champions League games as the Gunners reached the final of the competition.

According to Ekrem Konur, it now seems Martinelli could leave Arsenal, and he has interest from big clubs such as Manchester United, Newcastle, Bayern Munich, Juventus, and Roma…

Arsenal need an upgrade on Gabriel Martinelli

It’s surely time for Arsenal to move on from Martinelli, who is just not consistent enough to start regularly for a club with the ambition to win major titles like the Premier League and the Champions League.

The 25-year-old has been at the Emirates Stadium since 2019 and perhaps he’d now benefit from a change of scene.

Arsenal could also do well to try something different on that side of their front three, and they’ve been strongly linked with Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis by Ben Jacobs and others.

Could Gabriel Martinelli still have a good Premier League career?

Martinelli has still shown enough during his time at AFC that could make him tempting to other English clubs, so the links with Man Utd and Newcastle aren’t too surprising.

We’ve previously been informed of Newcastle asking about Martinelli, though this has not yet progressed as far as we’re aware.

The Magpies could do well to land Martinelli as a replacement for Anthony Gordon, who left for Barcelona earlier this summer.

United, meanwhile, might do well to bring in Martinelli to give them more depth behind their first choice front three of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko, as he can fill in on the left, right, or as a central striker.

Mid-table Premier League teams could be the big winners from Barcelona star’s decision

15 July 2026 at 18:30

Marc Casado is picking his new destination very carefully after a lack of minutes in Barcelona, meaning some Premier League teams will miss out.

If you enjoy CaughtOffside coverage and want to see more of it, add us as a preferred source on Google to make us a favourite and see more of our content.

Marc Casado has long been talked about as one of the most promising young players who will be on the market this summer, and there is no shortage of interest in him.

But the 22 year old Barcelona star is being very picky about where he goes next. He’s highly rated in Catalonia, but isn’t getting the minutes he wants. That’s why he’s reluctant to respond to the interest from the likes of Chelsea and Man City. Man U are also interested, but their signings of Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos in the last couple of weeks have really closed off some avenues there.

Casado wants to play at all costs

Instead, according to a report from TeamTalk, Casado will consider teams slightly further down the Premier League, in order to guarantee playing time.

The likes of Newcastle, Everton, Fulham and Brighton are all named as destinations where he would be able ot play regularly and potentially shine.

He could also yet stay at Barcelona, with manager Hansi Flick trying to convince him of his importance to the squad, even when he’s not a regular starter.

In other news…

Diogo Costa remains a potential target for Chelsea, although we still have our doubts that they would actually spend the €60m required to sign him.

Fabrizio Romano says that Bournemouth are close to completing their latest impressive deal – a move for Antonio Silva from Benfica.

Newcastle front-runners to agree deal with Brazilian after Serie A sides say no

15 July 2026 at 15:00

Newcastle are front of the queue for Dodo, the flying Brazilian full back from Fiorentina wanted by Nottingham Forest.

If you enjoy CaughtOffside coverage and want to see more of it, add us as a preferred source on Google to make us a favourite and see more of our content.

Newcastle have been selling big players this summer, and definitely need to start bringing some new blood in to make up for it.

One very interesting deal they’re being linked with is one for Fiorentina full back Dodo. The Brazilian is full of talent, if a little inconsistent, but is available at a low enough price to get teams interesting in taking a risk. A report from SportWitness today puts Newcastle at the front of the queue, ahead of Nottingham Forest, and says they would only have to pay €16m.

Fiorentina offering full back to teams around Europe

The key factor behind the former Shakhtar man’s low price is his contract situation. He only had a year left on his deal with the Serie A side, so they know they need to sell now if they want any money back for him.

That means Dodo is being “offered around,” and if Newcastle don’t take him, it seems likely someone else will. The report says that Serie A teams have thus far not been interested, but if Fiorentina continue to struggle to sell and the price comes down further, that may change.

In other news…

Trevoh Chalobah and Maxence Lacroix could end up swapping clubs this summer, with rumour about both moving in opposite directions.

Another experienced Premier League defender could be on the move, with West Ham likely forced into a sale after their relegation.

£80m star “really wants Arsenal” transfer but Gunners “unsure” about one issue

14 July 2026 at 18:54

Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes really wants the transfer to Arsenal, but the Gunners are currently unsure about paying his asking price.

The Brazil international has shone during his time at St James’ Park and looks like he’s ready to go to the next level, with Newcastle currently unable to offer him Champions League football.

It surely makes sense for Guimaraes to push now for a big move to Arsenal or it might be his last chance to take that kind of opportunity as he’ll turn 29 later this year.

See below for the latest on this deal as TEAMtalk’s Fraz Fletcher discusses Arsenal’s links with Guimaraes and a number of other players…

Fletcher says the Guimaraes story is still rolling on, with the player really keen on the move, but Arsenal unsure about paying so much for him.

This follows the Telegraph reporting that Newcastle could demand close to £100m for the former Lyon man, which might have been feasible a few years ago, but surely not when he’s at this stage of his career.

Will Arsenal give in to the demands of this inflated market?

Unfortunately for Arsenal, who have never really been the biggest spenders, the market changes all the time and prices tend to just keep going up and up.

It’s easy to forget now, but eyebrows were raised when Liverpool paid £75m for Virgil van Dijk, which now arguably looks like a bargain.

Fees keep being inflated, and that means some slightly eye-watering fees for players like Elliot Anderson and Sandro Tonali.

It also surely means Guimaraes is going to cost slightly more than some fans expect, but that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t still be a worthwhile investment for Arsenal.

The Premier League champions could do with something different in the middle of the park, as well as more rotation options after Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi played so much football without rest last season.

Arsenal’s blockbuster move thrown into doubt after response from club chiefs

13 July 2026 at 21:30

Bruno Guimaraes has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal this summer.

The Gunners are hoping to add more creativity, composure, and technical ability in the middle of the park, and the Brazilian would be an exceptional acquisition.

He has been one of the best central midfielders in the league in recent seasons. He is at the peak of his career, and there have been rumours that he wants to join Arsenal.

Bruno Guimaraes move seems complicated

Meanwhile, reports have surfaced that Newcastle promised they would let Guimaraes leave for the right price, but Luke Edwards from the Telegraph has now spoken to Mehrdad Ghodoussi and Amanda Staveley, who have confirmed that no such promises have been made to the player or his representatives. This will certainly complicate any potential move for Arsenal. It seems that Newcastle are prepared to dig their heels in, and they want to keep the midfielder.

It will be interesting to see if Guimaraes decides to force an exit in the coming weeks. The opportunity to play for Arsenal will be hard to turn down for him.

Arsenal move could tempt Guimaraes

The Premier League champions could provide him with the platform to compete at the highest level and win major trophies. He is at the peak of his career, and he has clearly outgrown Newcastle. He needs to compete at a higher level, and joining one of the world’s biggest teams would be ideal.

Newcastle have lost multiple players in recent transfer windows, and losing the Brazilian would be another devastating blow. He is one of the best players at the club. They have recently sanctioned Sandro Tonali’s departure, and losing two of their best midfielders in one window could prove catastrophic for them.

Just in: Newcastle United goalkeeper search accelerate after latest round of talks

13 July 2026 at 12:35

Newcastle United’s summer rebuild is beginning to focus on one of the most important positions in the squad.

The Magpies want a goalkeeper capable of becoming their long-term No.1, rather than simply adding another short-term option behind Nick Pope.

That approach makes sense with Pope now 34 and entering the final year of his contract.

Newcastle have already added young French goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen, but he is expected to develop as an understudy.

The next arrival, therefore, could be trusted with an immediate starting role at St James’ Park.

Newcastle open talks over long term goalkeeper target

According to the Newcastle Chronicle, Newcastle have held talks over Parma and Japan goalkeeper Zion Suzuki as they search for a new first-choice option.

The 23-year-old has built a strong reputation in Serie A and further raised his profile with a series of impressive displays for Japan at the 2026 World Cup.

Football Italia has also reported that Newcastle held initial discussions with Suzuki and his representatives.

The same report says Juventus, Aston Villa and Paris Saint-Germain have shown interest, while Leeds were previously keen before the goalkeeper rejected their approach.

Parma are widely expected to consider a sale, but competition could push the price higher.

World Cup form makes move attractive for Magpies

Suzuki’s appeal goes beyond his age. He is physically imposing, comfortable with the ball and already has experience in Japan, Belgium and Italy.

FourFourTwo highlighted his outstanding saves against Brazil at the World Cup, while noting that he remains Parma’s established No.1 despite missing several months last season with a fractured hand.

Newcastle should pursue Suzuki seriously. He fits the club’s need for a younger goalkeeper who can grow with the squad, and his international experience suggests he would not be overwhelmed by the pressure.

However, the Magpies should avoid being pulled into an inflated bidding war.

Suzuki is highly talented, but he is still developing and has not yet played in the Premier League.
