VIDEO: No. 2 Angelo State softball team jumped 11 spots after a big weekend

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) β The No. 2-ranked Angelo State University softball team leapfrogged 11 spots in the poll after winning four of five games this past weekend at the George & Ola McCorkle Challenge at Mayer Field.
The Belles are 9-1 on the season.
ASU opened the three-day tourney with a 2-0 loss against Missouri Western on Friday, but ended Day 1 with a 9-1 six-inning victory against Ouachita Baptist.
On Saturday, the Belles avenged Fridayβs loss against Missouri Western with a 6-0 shutout. And they wrapped up Day 2 with a 9-0 five-inning decision against Ouachita Baptist.
ASU concluded the tourney with a 7-0 shutout against Texas A&M International.
Freshman third baseman Zoey Sifuentes was named the Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Week. She hit .500 during the tourney with three doubles and three RBIs. The Lamesa High School product had a .706 on-base percentage and an .800 slugging percentage.
