- A championship defense with WrestleMania implications takes center stage as a beloved champion faces a surging challenger.
- A returning megastar is back on Raw as his open challenge at WrestleMania 42 still lingers without an answer.
- The date and the city have sparked intense speculation about a certain Hall of Famer showing up unannounced.
As we continue to build toward CM Punk Vs. Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship and Stephanie Vaquer Vs. Liv Morgan, there is still a good amount of Raw business to handle leading up to WrestleMania 42. Following an explosive episode of SmackDown, the red brand has a tough act to follow.
With Brock Lesnar, Reigns, AJ Lee and more already confirmed, and with the possibility for Stone Cold Steve Austin to make an appearance, there is a ton of buzz.
Here's the start time, location, confirmed card and the rumors ahead of Monday's episode.
When Does WWE Raw Start and Where Is It?
Monday Night Raw airs live on Netflix from the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas. Doors open at 5:00 PM CT with the show going live at 7:30 PM CT (8:00 PM ET). The timing of this one matters. The date is March 16; As in 3/16, and it’s in Texas.
That’s the potential hook for Austin, but more on that shortly.
What Matches Are Confirmed for Raw March 16?
AJ Lee (c) vs. Bayley for the Women's Intercontinental Championship is the marquee match. Bayley won a six-woman gauntlet last week, running through IYO SKY, Raquel Rodriguez, Ivy Nile and Asuka to earn this shot.
Bayley popped up at AAA on Saturday to accept Lady Flammer’s open challenge, so needless to say she’s having a busy three-day stretch.
This has the feel of something that could carry into WrestleMania depending on how it plays out. I also wouldn’t discount the potential involvement from Becky Lynch.
Original El Grande Americano vs. El Grande Americano is the other confirmed bout. The identity feud has been building with the imposter costing the Original his Intercontinental Championship shot against Penta.
Gable aka the Original, is still over after a lengthy absence. I’d still love to see him get a shot at a title run. Both competed at AAA Rey de Reyes over the weekend so the heat should carry over.
What Segments Are Announced?
Reigns returns to Raw to respond after Punk crossed a deeply personal line two weeks ago. Punk brought up Reigns' father and The Usos dropped Punk for it last week.
Reigns has had two weeks to sit with the comment. The World Heavyweight Championship feud keeps getting more personal and this feels like the one that pushes it past the point of return. Reigns and Punk haven’t got into physical altercations with each other so far, but with about a month until WrestleMania 42, it feels like it might be time to scrap.
Lesnar returns with his WrestleMania open challenge still unanswered. Heyman is in rough shape after Rollins stomped him and LA Knight stole his ambulance.
The question isn’t just who accepts the challenge. It’s whether Lesnar even has a Wiseman in his corner anymore. Heyman figures to be at WrestleMania, but I’m wondering if WWE will reveal Lesnar’s opponent ahead of time of make it a surprise.
Everyone believes Oba Femi will answer the challenge, but will the Ruler make his intentions known on Monday?
What Are the Biggest Rumors Surrounding This Episode?

ARLINGTON, TEXAS - APRIL 3: (EDITOR'S NOTE: Image contains profanity.) "Stone Cold" Steve Austin poses in the ring during WrestleMania 32 on April 3, 2016, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. (Photo by Rich Freeda/WWE via Getty Images.)
WWE via Getty ImagesThe biggest whisper involve Austin. WrestleVotes reported that people inside the company are "very hopeful" Austin shows up, though nothing is confirmed. His last Raw appearance was the COVID era in 2020 and his last live WWE appearance was WrestleMania 41. If glass shatters, the Frost Bank Center is going to lose it.
Seth Rollins is another wild card.
He led a masked invasion last week that created chaos between The Vision, LA Knight and The Usos.
Pearce wants to address the Rollins situation and with Rollins going full lone wolf after stomping Heyman, nobody knows where he lands. Following Judgment Day's betrayal of Finn Balor, there's the question of what the former leader does now that he's completely on his own.
I’m hoping to see Balor return as the Demon in a revenge match against Dominik Mysterio at WrestleMania 42.
