Micky van de Ven’s stance on next move amid rising interest from Liverpool & Man United

7 May 2026 at 11:58

The future of their defensive crown jewel, Micky van de Ven, has become the subject of intense speculation.

Despite Spurs’ desperate battle to secure their Premier League survival, recently bolstered by a crucial weekend victory over Aston Villa, the 25-year-old speedster is reportedly plotting a summer exit.

With a new contract offer firmly rejected, a high-stakes transfer battle is brewing, with arch-rivals Liverpool and Manchester United positioned at the front of the queue to secure the Dutchman’s signature.

Tottenham defender wants to join Liverpool

Van de Ven has already made his mind over his next move and the Dutchman is keen to join Liverpool over Man United, according to TEAMtalk.

The explosive center-back grew up as a boyhood Liverpool fan, and the allure of Anfield reportedly places Arne Slot’s side firmly in the driving seat.

Liverpool are scouring the market for a long-term, left-sided successor to their talismanic captain, Virgil van Dijk.

For Van de Ven, the opportunity to slot into the heart of the Reds’ defense and potentially seamlessly succeed his compatriot, represents a dream career step that he would accept “without hesitation.”

However, Manchester United refuse to concede defeat in the race.

Having just secured Champions League football for next season under the impressive interim leadership of Michael Carrick, the Red Devils have the financial muscle and ascending sporting project to entice top talent.

United view Van de Ven as an ideal upgrade to their backline, particularly given the persistent injury struggles and inconsistent availability of veterans Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt.

Spurs are in a difficult position at the moment

For Tottenham, the situation is increasingly bleak. While the club is desperate to retain their star defender, his refusal to sign an extension has forced the board’s hand.

Spurs have reportedly slapped an ambitious £60 million to £80 million valuation on the Netherlands international.

Yet, this wild asking price could be drastically compromised if the North London outfit fails to avoid the drop to the Championship in their final three fixtures.

Regardless of how Tottenham’s tense relegation dogfight concludes, Van de Ven appears destined for the Champions League next season.

Whichever club ultimately meets Spurs’ valuation will be signing one of Europe’s most dynamic and modern center-backs, ready to anchor an elite defense for years to come.

Owen backs ‘absolutely brilliant’ attacker to join Liverpool as Salah’s successor

7 May 2026 at 10:53

The impending departure of Mohamed Salah at the end of the 2025/26 season marks the end of an era at Liverpool.

As the Egyptian king prepares to bid farewell to Anfield after nine record-breaking years, the Merseyside giants are faced with the monumental task of replacing one of the greatest wingers in Premier League history.

While reports have linked Liverpool with ambitious moves for international stars like Athletic Club’s Nico Williams and RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande, former striker Michael Owen has backed a Premier League player to replace Salah at Anfield.

West Ham United captain Jarrod Bowen has received the backing from Owen to make the move to Anfield.

Liverpool are looking for a Mo Salah replacement

Replacing Salah is about more than simply signing a talented forward, it requires identifying a player capable of shouldering immense pressure while delivering relentless, clinical output from the right flank.

In a question asked by talkSPORT about seeing Bowen at Liverpool, the football pundit said:

“How do you know?

“I have said that to a couple of my mates the other day. I said, if I had one player.

“Now, obviously, Jarrod Bowen’s a legend of a player, West Ham, you know, adore the man, and rightly so.

“But, if West Ham went down, he would fit for me.

“I think he’s absolutely brilliant.

“I was lucky enough to do like a striking master class for a TV show we did last season with him, and I couldn’t believe it.

“Honestly, left foot, right foot, bang, bang, corners, pace. I mean, a real top finisher.

“I think he’s a brilliant player. I would be taking him to the World Cup, and, as I say, you know, I don’t want to upset West Ham fans, but if they went down, then he would be my idea of somebody to replace Salah.”

At 29 years old, Bowen represents a readymade, Premier League-proven solution. The England international possesses the qualities to shine at a big club.

Despite West Ham’s chaotic season, Bowen has maintained his high standards. The Hammers’ captain remains their most reliable attacking outlet, consistently troubling defenses with his direct running and sharp final product.

What relegation could mean for Bowen?

Bowen is currently tied down to a lucrative, long-term contract at the London Stadium that runs until June 2030.

Under normal circumstances, prising him away would require an exorbitant fee, with his current valuation hovering around the £60 million mark.

However, West Ham’s desperate battle against relegation could change the situation.

Retaining their highest earner and talisman would prove incredibly difficult, both financially and from a sporting perspective.

A relegation scenario would undoubtedly force West Ham to soften their stance, opening the door for Liverpool to make the move.

Chelsea, Liverpool make enquiry for 25-year-old PL star, but Tottenham have advantage in race

Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to ramp up their effort to sign the Brighton defender, Jan Paul van Hecke, at the end of the season.

Chelsea and Liverpool have made enquiries for the 25-year-old Netherlands defender in recent weeks, and they are prepared to make a move for him.

Spurs could use Jan Paul van Hecke

Tottenham need more quality in the defensive unit, especially with players like Cristian Romero linked with an exit. They need to tighten up at the back as well. They have been quite vulnerable defensively, which is one of the main reasons they are fighting for survival in the Premier League.

It will be interesting to see if they can secure safety in the top flight and sign the 25-year-old in the summer.

According to reports from TEAMtalk, Roberto De Zerbi is ready to reunite with Dutch defender at Tottenham, and the presence of the Italian manager at the home could give the North London club an advantage in the transfer race.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham come forward with an official offer for the 25-year-old in the coming weeks.

Liverpool and Chelsea eye Van Hecke

Meanwhile, Liverpool and Chelsea also need quality defenders. Chelsea might need to replace players like Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile. Whereas Liverpool will lose Ibrahima Konaté on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old Dutch defender could be a quality player for all three clubs. He has shown his quality in the Premier League with the Seagulls, and this could be the right time for him to take the next step and join a bigger club. It will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Liverpool urged to replace key star with “brilliant” 21-G/A Premier League match-winner

6 May 2026 at 21:00

Mohamed Salah has decided to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, and they will need to replace the Egyptian star accordingly.

According to former Liverpool striker Michael Owen, West Ham United attacker Jarrod Bowen could be the ideal acquisition for the Premier League champions.

Bowen has also been linked with Chelsea.

Jarrod Bowen deserves a big move

The 29-year-old has been a consistent performer in the Premier League since joining West Ham from Hull City. He is certainly one of the best attacking players in the league right now, and he’s at the peak of his career. Owen believes that Bowen could be the ideal replacement for the Egyptian.

Owen told talkSPORT: “A real top finisher, brilliant. If West Ham went down, he would be my idea of someone to replace Salah”.

It will be interesting to see if Liverpool decides to make a move for him at the end of the season. The 29-year-old would slot into the right flank and add goals and creativity to the team.

Bowen could fancy joining the Reds

The opportunity to play for Liverpool will be exciting for him as well. He has shown his quality at West Ham despite their struggles, and he has clearly outgrown them. He deserves to compete at a higher level, and Liverpool could provide him with that platform.

West Ham is fighting for survival in the Premier League, and they could end up in the championship if they do not finish the season strongly. That will make it difficult for them to keep their best players next season. It remains to be seen whether Bowen decides to move on in the summer.

The 29-year-old attacker has 10 goals and 11 assists across all competitions. His numbers could improve further when he plays on a better team alongside top-quality players.

Liverpool leapfrog rivals in the race to sign “phenomenal” South American star

6 May 2026 at 19:30

Marcos Senesi continues to be linked with a move away from Bournemouth in recent weeks, and it appears that Liverpool are leading the race for his signature.

According to reports from Spain, they are looking to bolster the defensive unit and have identified the 28-year-old as a target. They believe that the South American could help them improve at no cost, and he could prove to be a major bargain for them.

Liverpool could use Marcos Senesi

He has consistently shown his quality in the Premier League, and he has helped the Cherries do well this season. They are currently sixth in the league table. Senesi has been labelled as “phenomenal” this season.

The opportunity to play for Liverpool will be exciting for the Argentine defender. Senesi is at the peak of his career, and this is the right time for him to join a bigger club and fight for trophies. Signing a player of his quality for free would be exciting for most teams.

He has been linked with multiple clubs recently. The report claims that Liverpool has now overtaken all the competitors in the race to sign the South American defender, and it remains to be seen whether they can finalise an agreement with the player quickly.

Senesi to reunite with Slot?

Senesi has played under Arne Slot during their time together at Feyenoord, and it remains to be seen whether the player is keen on a reunion. He knows the manager well, and he should be able to settle into his style of football quickly.

He is also well settled in the Premier League, and Senesi should be able to make an immediate impact at Liverpool.

Ibrahima Konate could leave the club on a free transfer in the summer, and the 28-year-old is expected to fill the void left by the French International.

Kylian Mbappe’s Real Madrid crisis sees Liverpool express interest in shock transfer

6 May 2026 at 14:27

Liverpool have reportedly expressed an interest in an ambitious potential transfer swoop for Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe.

The France international is currently going through a difficult period at the Bernabeu, despite his impressive individual statistics so far this season.

Mbappe has 85 goals in 100 games for Real Madrid since joining last season, though he’s yet to win a major trophy with Los Blancos, and this season is also set to finish without silverware.

According to Fichajes, this has seen Liverpool register an interest in Mbappe in an ambitious potential move.

This comes as Marca and other Spanish football news outlets have reported on the former Paris Saint-Germain man’s attitude seeming to rub his teammates up the wrong way.

Could Liverpool really sign Kylian Mbappe?

But before everyone gets too excited about this story, it seems worth emphasising how it seems a tad premature to be seriously thinking about Mbappe moving to Anfield.

Liverpool, let’s not forget, spent huge money last summer on big names like Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz, so that could limit what they’re able to do this year without some serious sales to help balance the books and stay in line with Financial Fair Play rules.

Even then, not only would Mbappe cost a huge transfer fee, but he’d surely immediately become the club’s highest earner by some distance, which seems far from ideal, even if he is one of the best players in the world.

But before we even get into that, it’s not even clear if the 27-year-old will definitely be leaving Madrid.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

There may be some issues going on behind the scenes, but this sort of thing happens at every football club and the most likely thing is that all parties will work to resolve it.

Mbappe’s performances on the pitch mean it’s surely worth trying to keep him happy, and unless things really spiral from here, it doesn’t currently seem like we’re close to the stage where the club would look to get rid.

It would be hugely exciting to see Mbappe at Liverpool or another Premier League club, and while there’s perhaps always going to be some interest in his situation, we can’t see that leading to any concrete bids or negotiations just yet.

Sources: Liverpool, Man United, & Aston Villa could have exciting €40m transfer opportunity

6 May 2026 at 12:51

I’ve been speaking with my sources about a Serie A star who could be heading to the Premier League this summer after some impressive form.

A player attracting growing interest is Juventus defender Pierre Kalulu. I’ve reported before on the Frenchman being eyed by Liverpool after his strong performances and positive scouting reports. I’m told that the Reds continue to monitor him closely as one of their top defensive targets, while Manchester United and Aston Villa are also in the mix.

This story was originally published on the Daily Briefing – click here to subscribe to get these stories first, with no ads!

Juventus, however, are standing firm. Sources close to the Italian giants insist they “do not intend to sell Kalulu” and view him as “central” to their long-term project.

Some sources have also suggested that Juventus are preparing a new contract for Kalulu, running until 2030, which would include a salary increase to around €3.5 million net per season plus bonuses. This move would not only secure the player’s future in Turin but also protect his market value against potential offers from abroad.

Pierre Kalulu transfer could go through for the right price

I feel I should also share some information, however, from sources who’ve done a lot of work in and around the agents industry, who state that the strong suspicion is that Juve would sell for the right price, perhaps around €40m, especially if the player won’t agree to a new contract.

There is not yet a clear frontrunner out of Liverpool or Man United, but both clubs are making a defensive signing a top priority this summer, so it’s just about determining who looks like the best option and also who’s available. On that latter factor, it’s fair to say the messages are a bit mixed, but my personal feeling is that I suspect there might be an offer that would test Juventus’ resolve, even if they genuinely want to keep him.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Aston Villa’s pursuit adds another layer to the story. The Midlands club are keen to reinforce their defensive line and see Kalulu as a potential solution. Yet Juventus’ determination to keep him makes negotiations difficult. Only an extraordinary offer could force the Italian side to rethink their position, and Villa’s Financial Fair Play issues certainly make that look unlikely without a big sale. With all the speculation surrounding Morgan Rogers, however, perhaps that’s something that can’t be entirely ruled out.

Kalulu’s fine form for Juventus shows just how big a talent he is, and we’ve seen many times before that in this situation if the Premier League’s top clubs want a player like this, they usually get him. It’s early days on this one, but it definitely has the feel of one of the biggest stories to watch for summer 2026.

Report: Liverpool weighing up offer to hijack major Tottenham transfer deal

Liverpool are reportedly weighing up trying to hijack Tottenham’s move to sign Bournemouth centre-back Marcos Senesi.

The Argentine is set to be out of contract at Bournemouth this summer, and our understanding is that he has been in advanced talks over joining Spurs.

However, nothing has been fully agreed yet due to uncertainty over whether Tottenham can stay in the Premier League, which could lead to other clubs joining the race.

According to talkSPORT, Liverpool could be set to try to get in ahead of their rivals, with there still seemingly being no clarity on Ibrahima Konate staying and signing a new contract at Anfield.

Marcos Senesi transfer looks like a good opportunity for top clubs

Even if Senesi isn’t the biggest name in world football, he’s a quality player with Premier League experience who’s about to be available on a free transfer.

Tottenham could certainly do well to add someone like that to their squad for next season after flirting with relegation this term.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Liverpool, meanwhile, have also had a disappointing season by their high standards, with Champions League qualification still not entirely guaranteed yet.

It seems clear the Reds would benefit from strengthening at the back after conceding 47 league goals – more than the likes of Everton and Crystal Palace, and 21 more than league leaders Arsenal.

Bournemouth to lose more star players?

Bournemouth saw Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez leave last summer, while Antoine Semenyo then joined Manchester City in January.

The Cherries now look set to lose Senesi for nothing, while there’ll likely be speculation over other star players such as Eli Junior Kroupi and Alex Scott.

Meanwhile, manager Andoni Iraola is also leaving his position as he’ll also be out of contract this summer.

Mo Salah names three players without whom Liverpool “would not have won anything”

5 May 2026 at 22:47

Mohamed Salah has named Gini Wijnaldum, James Milner, and Jordan Henderson as three players who do not get the credit they deserve for their pivotal roles in Liverpool’s trophy-laden success in recent years.

While the “Egyptian King” has been the headline stealer for Liverpool over the years, Salah was quick to point out that the foundation of the club’s Premier League and Champions League triumphs was built on the backs of these selfless engine-room operators.

Reflecting on the era under Jürgen Klopp, the departing Salah emphasised that individual awards often overlook the tactical discipline and leadership provided by the veteran trio.

Mohamed Salah names trio as unsung heroes for Liverpool

During a recent interview with Steven Gerrard on TNT Sport, Salah named Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum and James Milner as three teammates who deserve more recognition for their role in Liverpool’s success.

Salah said: “I think people don’t know how good Alexander-Arnold is, but I think he gets a lot of credit.

“But I would say Gini Wijnaldum and Millie [Milner] and Hendo [Henderson]. These guys just, without them, we wouldn’t have won anything.”

Wijnaldum’s role in Liverpool’s success

Gini Wijnaldum was a key part of Klopp’s midfield, known for his ability to retain possession under extreme pressure and his tactical flexibility.

His most iconic contribution, two goals in the historic 4-0 comeback against Barcelona, which remains one of the best European nights at Anfield.

Jordan Henderson’s role in Liverpool’s success

As the captain who hoisted every major trophy, Jordan Henderson’s leadership was the heartbeat of the squad.

He captained Liverpool through their most successful era in recent history. Salah has even called for fans to give him a proper sending off that he deserved but couldn’t receive due to his sudden exit last summer.

In the same interview he said:

“I think last game of the season against Brentford, people in the city knows how much it meant to Hendo also, being captain of the club, being here for 12 years – more than me, more than Virg, more than Robbo, more than anyone.

“He didn’t get the send-off that he deserved because he left suddenly. I don’t know how the club is going to manage it.

“I have no plans, and I don’t know how the supporters will also manage it, but I really wish they do something special for him, because he’s been one of the best players in this club.”

James Milner’s role in Liverpool’s success

James Milner, often referred to as the ultimate professional, was the glue that held the dressing room together.

He was one of Klopp’s favourite players, in fact, he is every manager’s dream player.

Whether filling in at left-back or right-back or dominating the midfield, Milner provided a level of experience and fitness that was indispensable.

These three players represent the selfless spirit that defined Liverpool’s return to the pinnacle of world football.

Chelsea pushing to sign £35m defensive star on Liverpool & Man United wishlist

Chelsea are interested in signing the Ecuador defender Joel Ordonez at the end of the season.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, they will also face competition from Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Chelsea eye Joel Ordonez swoop

Chelsea have been tracking the 22-year-old defender since 2022, and it remains to be seen whether they can get the deal done this summer. They need more quality in the defensive unit. They have looked quite poor at the back this season, and they need to improve in that area if they want to compete with top clubs next season.

The 22-year-old central defender could be the ideal acquisition for them. He has shown his quality in Belgium with Club Brugge, and this is the right time for him to take on a new challenge. Chelsea move would be a huge opportunity for him, and Ordonez is likely to be tempted.

Liverpool and Man United also keen on Ordonez

Meanwhile, Liverpool need an alternative to Ibrahima Konate, who will be out of contract in the summer. It will be interesting to see if they can get a deal done for the 22-year-old South American defender.

Manchester United and Tottenham also need more quality in the defensive unit. Both clubs have looked vulnerable at the back this season. Manchester United need a long-term replacement for Harry Maguire, and Tottenham could lose Cristian Romero in the summer. It remains to be seen which of the Premier League clubs can get the deal done.

The Belgian club could demand around £35 million for the South American defender, and the Premier League club certainly has the financial muscle to afford him.

Liverpool eye explosive 19-year-old Arsenal target to kickstart post-Salah era

5 May 2026 at 22:00

Liverpool and Arsenal are interested in signing the Bournemouth attacker Eli Junior Kroupi at the end of the season.

The 19-year-old has 12 goals in 30 league matches for the Cherries, and top clubs are interested in securing his signature. According to a report from INews, Liverpool are looking to reshape their attacking unit after the departure of Mohamed Salah, and they are firm admirers of the French attacker.

They believe he could become a key player for the club. However, the Cherries are unwilling to sanction his departure. The player is valued at in excess of £100 million, and they are hoping to offer him a new contract after his impressive debut campaign.

It will be interesting to see if Liverpool decides to come forward with an offer for him at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are keeping tabs on his situation as well. Even though Viktor Gyokeres has scored 20 goals in all competitions, this season, he has not been prolific enough in the Premier League.

Arsenal need more quality in the final third, and the French attacker would be ideal for them.

The 19-year-old has the potential to develop into a star in the Premier League, and joining clubs like Arsenal or Liverpool could be attractive for him. It would be a huge step up for him, and he would get to compete at the highest level with them.

However, it is unlikely that any club would be willing to pay in excess of £100 million for him this summer. Therefore, any move might have to wait for the future.

Report: Euro giants make surprise enquiry for Liverpool manager Arne Slot

5 May 2026 at 20:07

According to Dutch media, Ajax have made an audacious enquiry for under-fire Liverpool manager Arne Slot as the Amsterdam giants continue their search for a permanent head coach.

The startling revelation comes from Mike Verweij of De Telegraaf, who revealed that the Eredivisie club reached out to the 47-year-old tactician despite his current role at Anfield.

However, the approach was reportedly met with a swift and decisive refusal from the Liverpool boss.

Arne Slot turns down enquiry from Ajax

Speaking on the Kick-off podcast, Verweij detailed the exchange, noting that Slot remains committed to his long-term project on Merseyside.

“I was told again that they also informed Arne Slot,” Verweij said (quotes via Soccer News).

“Slot is still very firmly in the saddle; he will continue at Liverpool. I also understood that Arne Slot is not very keen to go to Ajax at this time in his career.”

Liverpool insist to continue with Arne Slot next season despite horrible season

The enquiry from Ajax highlights a paradoxical situation at Anfield.

Liverpool have endured a torrid 2025/26 campaign, recently suffering a 3-2 defeat to Manchester United, a result that marked their 11th league loss of the season and left them 18 points adrift of leaders Arsenal.

Despite breaking a 113-year-old record for home-and-away losses to both Manchester clubs in a single season, the Liverpool hierarchy reportedly remains behind their manager.

Unlike the chaotic managerial revolving door at Ajax, who are searching for their fourth permanent manager in three seasons, FSG appear determined to allow Slot the time to fix the current situation.

While he has lost the support of the fans, winning the Premier League title just 12 months ago seems to have bought him the time to oversee a rebuild next season.

Liverpool plot blockbuster £82m move for “Rolls-Royce” Premier League speedster

5 May 2026 at 20:00

Liverpool are interested in signing the Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven.

The 25-year-old defender has been outstanding for Tottenham since joining the club from Wolfsburg, and he has attracted the attention of top clubs recently. Liverpool would be willing to spend around €95 million (£82m) to sign the player in the summer, according to reports from FussballDaten.

Tottenham is fighting for survival in the Premier League, and it will be interesting to see if they can stay up. Even if they do, the top players could look to move on in the summer. They will look to compete at the highest level and fight for trophies. Liverpool is certainly better placed than Tottenham to fight for League titles or the UEFA Champions League.

The Netherlands International could be attracted to the idea of joining the Premier League champions. Liverpool has a strong Dutch contingent, and convincing Van de Ven to join will not be difficult for them.

Meanwhile, the Reds have looked poor at the back this season, and they need to improve defensively. Signing the Tottenham star would be ideal for Liverpool. He could replace Ibrahima Konaté at the heart of the Liverpool defence. The French International will be out of contract soon, and he has not signed an extension with the club.

Van de Ven is not just a quality defender; he is quite accomplished on the ball, and his recovery pace could add a new dimension to the Liverpool defence. He is a proven performer in the Premier League and at the peak of his career. This could be the right time for the Premier League site to secure his signature.

Van de Ven has been hailed as a Rolls-Royce player.

5-year-contract: Journo drops transfer bombshell for Arsenal & Liverpool target Gordon

The German giants are looking to steal Arsenal and Liverpool target Anthony Gordon, who is attracting a lot of attention.

The Newcastle United attacker has been in the news recently with media speculation constantly linking him with a move away from St. James’ Park.

According to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, the German heavyweights have presented Newcastle winger Gordon with a concrete offer.

The Bavarian giants have put a massive five-year contract on the table, signaling a serious statement of intent.

Bayern Munich make approach for Gordon

While several top clubs have been circling the 25-year-old, Bayern’s serious approach has seemingly propelled them right to the front of the queue.

It is incredibly easy to see why Bayern are so desperate to secure Gordon’s signature.

The winger has just enjoyed a phenomenal individual campaign, particularly shining on the grandest stage with a staggering 10 goals in 12 Champions League appearances.

This elite European form has fully convinced Bayern manager Vincent Kompany, who has approved the move.

However, Bayern aren’t the only ones impressed with the England international.

🚨📈 Despite interest from other top clubs, FC Bayern have now presented Anthony #Gordon and his camp with concrete figures. Gordon could sign a five-year contract at Bayern.

The main issue remains an agreement with Newcastle – not with the player. Bayern have clear limits.… pic.twitter.com/u0iRXkmsBg

— Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) May 5, 2026

Both Arsenal and Liverpool have heavily monitored the England international player and could join the race soon to sign the former Everton man.

Barcelona have also shown significant interest, with their sporting director, Deco, recently holding talks with Gordon’s representatives.

Newcastle United ready to demand premium fee

While convincing the player seems to be progressing smoothly for Bayern Munich, the ultimate hurdle remains the agreement with Newcastle United.

The Magpies are under very little pressure to sell, as Gordon is securely locked into a contract that runs until 2030. Consequently, the Premier League outfit is reportedly holding out for a massive fee in the region of £77 million.

Gordon himself hasn’t publicly demanded an exit, but the desire to consistently compete for major silverware and regular Champions League football is a massive draw for the attacker.

If Bayern can find a way to meet Newcastle’s lofty valuation, both Arsenal and Liverpool would lose the race to sign the attacker before even entering the race properly.

Bayern Munich mean business and they are wasting no time to secure the signature of Gordon.

Liverpool’s legendary goalkeeper, Alisson Becker, has emerged as the absolute top transfer target for Italian giants Juventus.

At 33 years old, the Brazilian shot-stopper finds himself at a major career crossroads.

With his contract at Anfield entering its final twelve months, following the club’s recent decision to trigger a one-year extension option to keep him until the summer of 2027, the whispers of a blockbuster move back to Serie A are growing louder by the day.

Sky Sports have confirmed that the Premier League legend has become the primary target for Italian giants Juventus.

It all comes down to the man currently sitting in the Juventus dugout.

Alisson Becker is being eyed by his former manager

Manager Luciano Spalletti, who previously worked closely with Alisson during their time together at AS Roma, is reportedly pushing incredibly hard for a reunion.

Spalletti is embarking on a massive summer rebuild in Turin and views his former number one as the absolute perfect anchor for a revamped defense.

The Italian club are apparently ready to devote significant time and financial resources to get the deal across the line before the new season kicks off.

From Liverpool’s perspective, cashing in on their iconic goalkeeper might actually make a lot of logical sense right now.

Let’s be completely honest, Alisson has endured a deeply frustrating campaign ravaged by nagging hamstring injuries, forcing him to miss crucial Premier League and Champions League fixtures.

Liverpool already have a replacement at the club

Furthermore, the Reds already have their succession plan completely sorted out.

Giorgi Mamardashvili has seamlessly stepped up to the plate during Alisson’s injury absences, proving to the Anfield hierarchy that he is more than ready to permanently take over the gloves.

With huge, experienced dressing room figures like Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson already heading out the exit door this summer, Liverpool are firmly in the middle of a ruthless, sweeping squad evolution under Arne Slot.

Losing a player of Alisson’s immense caliber is never an easy pill to swallow. Even club captain Virgil van Dijk recently admitted that while players will inevitably leave, the Brazilian remains “the best goalkeeper in the world” and a genuinely crucial leader on the pitch.

If Juventus can match Liverpool’s financial demands and offer a tempting package, a return to Italy might be the perfect fresh start for Alisson to cap off his career.

‘I wouldn’t be surprised’ – Lineker tips sacked manager for Liverpool job next season

The narrative surrounding Anfield has definitively turned negative in recent weeks.

Following a deeply frustrating 3-2 defeat at the hands of arch-rivals Manchester United over the weekend, Liverpool’s 2025/26 campaign has officially hit another massive speed bump.

That loss marked their 11th Premier League defeat of the season.

While manager Arne Slot is still expected to keep his job provided he guides the Reds to a top-five finish and secures elite European football, the immense pressure is undeniably starting to mount.

Legendary striker and pundit Gary Lineker has just thrown gas on the fire, admitting he genuinely wouldn’t be surprised to see the club make a ruthless managerial change by bringing in former midfield maestro Xabi Alonso this summer.

Arne Slot continues to struggle at Liverpool

Just 12 months ago, Slot was viewed as untouchable after brilliantly winning the Premier League title during his debut season in the Anfield dugout. However, this current campaign has been an absolute slog.

Big-money acquisitions like Florian Wirtz have struggled to find their absolute best form, and a frustrating injury to striker Alexander Isak has severely hampered their attacking flow.

Speaking on the latest episode of The Rest is Football podcast alongside Alan Shearer and Micah Richards, Lineker didn’t hold back his thoughts on the situation.

“Would Slot be there next season?” Lineker asked Shearer and Richards.

“Eleven defeats in the Premier League, still in the Champions League positions. I wouldn’t be surprised if Xabi Alonso was there next season.”

It is worth noting that Alonso is currently a high-profile free agent, having been out of work since parting ways with Real Madrid in January 2026.

He was heavily linked to the Liverpool job when Jurgen Klopp initially stepped down, but he opted to stay at Bayer Leverkusen before eventually making his move to Madrid in June 2025.

Alonso’s availability could pressure on Slot

Currently, Liverpool are incredibly close to mathematically securing their primary objective for the season.

They need just four more points from their remaining fixtures against Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Brentford to completely guarantee Champions League qualification for next term.

Slot has undoubtedly earned the right to try and fix this current mess, but the shadow of Alonso will naturally continue to loom large over Anfield.

If Liverpool stumble poorly through their final three fixtures, the club’s ownership group might just decide that bringing their former Champions League-winning midfielder back home is the perfect way revive the club.

With Ibrahima Konaté’s long-term future remaining slightly uncertain and the legendary Virgil van Dijk entering the twilight years of his brilliant career, finding elite reinforcements at the back is an absolute necessity.

According to Football Insider, the Reds have aggressively narrowed their search, drafting a highly ambitious shortlist that features two of Europe’s absolute best left-footed centre-backs: Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni and Borussia Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck.

Having a naturally left-footed centre-back is considered the ultimate tactical luxury these days.

While cheaper domestic options have been floated around, Bastoni and Schlotterbeck represent genuine, marquee additions designed to keep Liverpool firmly at the top of the English game.

Bastoni is widely regarded as one of the most complete, elegant ball-playing defenders on the planet.

At Inter Milan, he has developed into an absolute anchor, famous for his ice-cold composure, elite long-range passing, and brilliant ability to comfortably carry the ball out of tight spaces.

The Italian defender has helped Inter win the Serie A title this season with his consistent performances.

He is deeply embedded in Inter’s long-term project, meaning Liverpool would likely need to drop an astronomical, statement-making fee to even bring the Serie A champions to the negotiating table.

German defender Schlotterbeck is on the shortlist

On the other hand, Schlotterbeck offers a slightly grittier, more aggressive defensive profile.

The Borussia Dortmund star is an absolute warrior in the air and thrives on stepping out of the defensive line to crunch into tackles and disrupt attacks early.

He brings a massive wealth of Champions League experience and that relentless, high-intensity energy that translates perfectly to the grueling pace of English football.

Ultimately, securing either of these defensive juggernauts will require Liverpool’s ownership group to significantly open their checkbooks this summer.

Landing a player of Bastoni or Schlotterbeck’s caliber wouldn’t just solve a massive tactical puzzle, it would send an undeniable warning shot to the rest of Europe.

Report: Liverpool & Arsenal on alert as 19 G/A attacker could soon become available

4 May 2026 at 14:12

Liverpool and Arsenal could be involved in a transfer battle this summer to sign one of the most wanted attackers in world football.

Bradley Barcola could be one of the more intriguing names to watch this summer, with Liverpool and Arsenal both reportedly keeping close tabs on the Paris Saint-Germain forward.

According to TEAMtalk, there are early signs that the 23-year-old’s camp is exploring potential opportunities, even though his contract in Paris still runs until 2028.

While PSG are not actively pushing him out, the situation appears fluid and that has alerted several top clubs.

With both Liverpool and Arsenal looking to strengthen their attacking options ahead of next season, Barcola’s profile makes him an attractive target if he becomes available.

Barcola is drawing interest from Liverpool and Arsenal

Barcola has quietly put together a solid campaign, registering 12 goals and seven assists across all competitions.

Those numbers reflect a player who is growing into his role at one of Europe’s biggest clubs, even if he isn’t always the headline name in PSG’s star-studded attack.

What makes Barcola particularly appealing is his versatility. Comfortable playing on either wing, he combines pace with direct dribbling and a willingness to take on defenders, qualities that are highly valued in the Premier League.

Liverpool’s interest is closely linked to long-term planning in their attack. With ongoing uncertainty surrounding Mohamed Salah’s future, the club is believed to be assessing potential replacements who can grow into a leading role.

Barcola’s age and skill set fit that profile, offering both immediate contribution and long-term development potential.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are continuing to build depth in their forward line. Mikel Arteta has emphasized the need for rotation and competition across attacking positions, especially with the club competing on multiple fronts.

Winger’s future depends on PSG’s stance

Adding a player like Barcola would provide flexibility, allowing Arsenal to rotate without a drop in quality.

PSG’s stance remains key to how this situation develops. Reports suggest the club are constantly evaluating their squad structure, particularly as they balance experienced stars with emerging talent.

If Barcola feels his role could be limited or if PSG receive a strong offer, the door to a transfer could open.

If the Ligue 1 giants decide to listen to offers, this could quickly turn into a competitive transfer race and one that might shape the attacking options of two Premier League giants heading into next season.

As the Anfield hierarchy looks to heavily reinforce the squad ahead of next season, tightening up the backline has clearly become an absolute top priority.

According to respected transfer insider Matteo Moretto, the Reds are now preparing to make contact with Bournemouth’s rock-solid center-back, Marcos Senesi.

Marcos Senesi is being chased by top clubs

With his contract expiring at the end of the current campaign, the 28-year-old Argentine is quickly becoming one of the most fiercely coveted bargains in English football.

Why are Liverpool suddenly pushing so hard for Senesi? The answer lies in the mounting uncertainty surrounding Ibrahima Konaté.

While the French powerhouse has been an undeniable force on his day, his long-term future at the club is now suddenly up in the air.

Sporting director Richard Hughes knows he simply cannot afford to be caught completely off guard if Konaté departs.

Entering the absolute prime of his career, Senesi offers a brilliant, ready-made solution.

As a naturally left-footed center-back, a highly prized and rare commodity in modern tactical setups, he would bring instant balance to Arne Slot’s possession-heavy, build-from-the-back system.

He has spent the last few years quietly proving himself on the South Coast as an aggressive, ball-playing defender who is perfectly tailored to the grueling, relentless pace of the Premier League.

Liverpool are not the only big club interested

Liverpool aren’t just walking into an empty room to negotiate. They are actively attempting a massive transfer hijack.

Recent reports strongly indicate that Senesi has already been deep in talks with arch-rivals Manchester United.

The INEOS-led recruitment team at Old Trafford are undergoing their own massive defensive rebuild, setting the stage for a classic, high-stakes tug-of-war between the two North West heavyweights.

If battling United wasn’t tough enough, the London clubs are also actively lurking in the shadows.

Tottenham and Chelsea are heavily linked and monitoring the situation closely.

The one thing that is absolutely certain? Senesi is staying in the Premier League.

He knows the division inside out, and because there is no transfer fee attached, the wage packages on offer from these top-tier clubs will be incredibly lucrative.

Watch: Dominik Szoboszlai solo stunner and Senne Lammens howler spark Liverpool comeback to make it 2-2

3 May 2026 at 20:16

Awful defensive mistakes from Manchester United have allowed Liverpool to claw their way back into the game early in the second half.

Despite a dominant opening 45 minutes from the Red Devils, clinical finishes from Dominik Szoboszlai and Cody Gakpo have leveled the score at 2-2 in this high-stakes match.

Dominik Szoboszlai scores solo goal after Diallo mistake

Manchester United entered the second half with a comfortable two-goal cushion, but that momentum evaporated just two minutes after the restart.

Amad Diallo, who had replaced the injured Benjamin Sesko at halftime, endured a nightmare start to his cameo.

In the 47th minute, Diallo attempted a loose pass in his own half that was easily intercepted by Dominik Szoboszlai.

The Hungarian midfielder needed no second invitation, driving forward with intent and weaving through the United defense.

He capped off the solo run with a composed finish past Senne Lammens, breathing immediate life into an Arne Slot side that had looked second-best until that point.

Senne Lammens gifts Liverpool an equaliser

If the first goal was a gift, the second was a complete collapse.

In the 56th minute, young United goalkeeper Senne Lammens committed a catastrophic error that silenced the Old Trafford crowd.

Under minimal pressure, the Belgian shot-stopper attempted to play out from the back but scuffed his clearance directly into the path of Alexis Mac Allister.

Mac Allister quickly fed Szoboszlai, who unselfishly laid the ball off for Cody Gakpo. With Lammens caught out of position and the goal gaping, the Dutch forward made no mistake, tapping home from close range to make it 2-2.

‘Dreadful’ – Roy Keane brutally slams Liverpool star’s first half performance vs Man United

3 May 2026 at 19:56

Roy Keane has singled out Andy Robertson for a “dreadful” performance as Manchester United took a commanding lead against Liverpool at Old Trafford.

With United heading into the break 2-0 ahead, the Sky Sports pundit did not hold back in his assessment of the visitors’ defensive display, labeling them a “bad five-a-side team.”

Roy Keane slams Liverpool’s first half performance

The first half was defined by Manchester United’s relentless intensity and clinical finishing.

Matheus Cunha opened the scoring just six minutes in, followed by a controversial 14th-minute goal from Benjamin Šeško that was allowed to stand despite a VAR check for handball.

While Arne Slot’s side protested the decision, Keane argued that the manager should be more concerned with his players’ lack of composure.

“[Slot] won’t be happy [with the Sesko handball call] but he should be more upset with his team.

“They look frightened to death. They’ve started slow, they’ve given up two goals, defensively – the second goal, Robertson getting beaten at the back post, Robertson defending so far and going forward… Oh it’s been dreadful.

“Liverpool are like a five-a-side team but a bad five-a-side team.

“Not athletic, giving away the ball cheaply. United look like they can score every time they go forward.”

Liverpool have been awful

The Reds have been awful all season despite spending almost half a billion on transfers.

Many would claim that the club are in a transition phase but the problems appear far deeper with the culture and mentality that Klopp had drilled into the club appearing to have been ripped apart.

Liverpool make £24m for offer for defender with Slot ready to welcome him at Anfield

3 May 2026 at 12:18

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot had urged the Anfield hierarchy to make a swift, bargain swoop for a Napoli star. Now, the identity of that target has finally been revealed.

With the Reds looking to strengthen their squad in all the positions, particularly the defensive positions, they have already identified their targets ahead of the summer transfer window.

Despite heavy financial spending in the summer last year, this season’s performances have shown that the Merseyside club need a rebuild.

Liverpool place offer for Napoli star Buekema

According to a fresh report from Italian outlet AreaNapoli, Liverpool have placed a €28 million (£24.2m) offer on the table to secure the services of 27-year-old Dutch centre-back Sam Beukema.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

It doesn’t take a tactical genius to see exactly why Slot is heavily pushing for this specific signing.

Slot is naturally intimately familiar with the Dutch talent pool, and bringing in a compatriot who inherently understands his demanding, possession-based footballing philosophy makes total sense for his first transfer window.

More importantly, Liverpool are actively looking toward the future of their backline. While club captain Virgil van Dijk remains an absolute colossus at the heart of the defense, he isn’t getting any younger.

Beukema, who has quietly developed into a seriously commanding presence in Serie A, perfectly fits the profile of what the Reds are looking for.

At 27 years old, he is entering the absolute prime of his career, boasting the physical maturity and tactical intelligence required to handle the brutal, unforgiving pace of the Premier League.

Liverpool boss relies heavily on center-backs who are incredibly composed under intense pressing and capable of breaking opposition lines with crisp, progressive passing.

Dutchman could be a bargain signing for the Reds

Beukema has built a stellar reputation in Italy for his ball-playing abilities, as well as his aggressive, front-foot defending style.

Furthermore, the reported £24.2m fee is absolute music to the ears of the Fenway Sports Group (FSG) recruitment team.

In an outrageously inflated modern market where starting-caliber Premier League center-backs routinely command upwards of £60 million, snagging a proven, top-flight defender for under £25 million would be the ultimate “Moneyball” transfer.

The ball is now firmly in Napoli’s court. While the Italian club’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, is notoriously one of the toughest negotiators in world football, Liverpool’s opening €28m bid is a highly respectable starting point.
