One UI 8.5 and One UI 9 news cycle to intensify next week
The next week of May could kick off an intensifying news cycle of Samsung’s One UI 8.5 and One UI 9.0 software versions.
Samsung is set to expand the One UI 8.5 rollout next week, and Google’s The Android Show could bring in some juicy information about One UI 9.
One UI 8.5
Samsung started One UI 8.5 official rollout on May 6. At the same time, the company confirmed a Global expansion is scheduled for May 11. Devices that have received an update in South Korea will get it in even more regions.
The list includes the Galaxy S25 series, S25 Edge, S25 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, Flip7 FE, and Galaxy Z TriFold. Users of these devices, outside Korea, should be ready to grab the major One UI 8.5 software upgrade.
If Samsung goes beyond, flagship devices released in 2024 may start getting the One UI 8.5 upgrade in South Korea. If it happens, users in the Global market will have to wait for a few days to get the software update.
One UI 9.0
Samsung’s Android 17-based One UI 9 is also under development. The company is testing Beta firmware internally, ahead of giving it to users. Google’s The Android Show is scheduled for May 12 and we’re expecting some details from Samsung.
Last year, Google’s The Android Show dedicated to Android 16 brought initial information on the One UI 8. The company also confirmed that the software will make its debut earlier than usual, starting in the second half.
This year, the One UI 9 will debut with the Galaxy Z8 series in July. With The Android 17 Show approaching, Google and Samsung may have been preparing to make an official announcement regarding One UI 9.
