Official One UI 8.5: These Galaxy devices will get this update next

6 May 2026 at 16:52

The wait is over: Samsung has finally locked in the rollout plan for the official One UI 8.5 update, and it starts sooner than many expected.

South Korea gets the first taste on May 6, and just a few days later, from May 11, the update begins spreading across major global markets, including Europe, India, North America, Southeast Asia, and more.

Samsung is clearly pushing a tight, aggressive rollout window. The Galaxy S25 lineup is first in line, and that includes every variant, standard, Edge, and FE. Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, Flip7 FE, and TriFold have also joined the party.

The Korean tech giant is once again using its 2025 flagship lineup to set the pace, both as a showcase and as a stability benchmark before the update expands further.

From there, the update flows into familiar territory, with the Galaxy S24 series and S24 FE next. LastΒ year’s Fold 6 and Flip 6 are firmly in the early wave, ready to jump from the Beta phase.

The Galaxy Tab S11 and Tab S10 series are part of this first expansion phase, which signals Samsung’s growing focus on keeping its premium tablet lineup aligned with flagship phones.

That said, the first wave of rollout includes these models:

  1. Galaxy S25
  2. Galaxy S25 Plus
  3. Galaxy S25 Edge
  4. Galaxy S25 Ultra
  5. Galaxy S25 FE
  6. Galaxy Z Fold 7
  7. Galaxy Z Flip 7
  8. Galaxy Z TriFold
  9. Galaxy S24
  10. Galaxy S24 Plus
  11. Galaxy S24 Ultra
  12. Galaxy S24 FE
  13. Galaxy Z Fold 6
  14. Galaxy Z Flip 6
  15. Galaxy Tab S11
  16. Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra
  17. Galaxy Tab S10 Plus
  18. Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra

After the initial push, older Galaxy flagships will begin receiving the update. Samsung has not pinned exact dates here, which usually means a staggered rollout based on region and carrier approvals.

Samsung is moving fast with One UI 8.5, and the rollout strategy reflects confidence. Flagships go first, foldables stay close, and mid-range devices get a more selective pass. The next couple of weeks will tell how smooth this push really is.

Samsung officially announces stable One UI 8.5 rollout

6 May 2026 at 16:15

Samsung has formally announced the official One UI 8.5 update rollout, marking the end of a closely watched beta cycle. The rollout kicked off today in Korea, with global markets expected to follow in the coming days.

The first wave includes the Galaxy S25 series, alongside the S25 FE and the newly introduced S25 Edge. Samsung has also pushed the stable build to its latest foldables, including the Galaxy Z TriFold, Z Fold 7, and Z Flip 7.

Samsung has also confirmed a second batch of devices lined up for the update. This includes the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy S24 FE, Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, and tablets such as the Galaxy Tab S11 and Tab S10 series.

Based on previous rollout timelines, these devices should start receiving the official One UI 8.5 update shortly after the initial Korea push stabilizes.

There are no major surprises, but that is precisely the point. This is a refinement-driven update, and Samsung has executed it with discipline.

The rollout begins in Korea today, May 6, 2026. Samsung says other regions will follow soon, though exact timelines will vary by market and carrier.

One UI 8.5 update goes live for Galaxy Z TriFold phone

6 May 2026 at 15:09

Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold foldable phone joined the One UI 8.5 update party with plenty of 2025 flagship devices.

Galaxy Z TriFold is Samsung’s first dual-folding phone, released in select countries. The company has reportedly produced and sold around 30,000 units worldwide. The sale of the iconic device has ended in Korea and the US.

Samsung shipped the Galaxy Z TriFold with Android 16-based One UI 8, with the new One UI 8.5 elevating the experience. It feels like a mid-cycle update, but the reality is different; you get plenty of ways to improve your experience.

One UI 8.5 feels tailor-made for a tri-fold device, especially with its deeply customizable Quick Panel. This flexibility becomes crucial on a triple-fold layout, where screen zones can behave like separate workspaces.

Samsung’s UI redesign also leans into multi-panel usability, with bottom-placed search bars and simplified navigation icons improving one-handed reach. This shift helps maintain usability whether you’re using one, two, or all three panels at once.

Galaxy AI is expected to play a bigger role here, with smarter task prediction, AI summaries, and enhanced photo editing tools. This could translate into real multitasking gains, like editing content on one panel while AI suggestions update on another.

Visual changes in core apps such as Gallery, Phone, and Clock bring cleaner layouts and icon-driven navigation. Privacy and cross-device features also get upgrades, including better protection for shared images

For a tri-fold flagship, these changes position One UI 8.5 as a bridge between phone, tablet, and PC-like experiences in a single device.
