Como strongest move for Chalobah as Chelsea defender open to move – report

29 June 2026 at 19:57

Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah is reportedly open to joining Como this summer, with Cesc Fabregas’ side making the ‘strongest move’ so far, despite interest from some Premier League clubs.

Chelsea defender Chalobah is open to joining Como in the summer transfer window, for three different reasons, according to TEAMTalk.

Chalobah keen to join Como

The possibility of playing in the Champions League under Fabregas is said to be appealing to the England international, who is also attracted by playing in Como, one of the ‘most naturally beautiful spots in the country.’

The English media outlet confirms that Como have already tabled an opening €27m offer, as Sky Sport Italia reported over the weekend.

Como’s proposal is still short of Chelsea’s demands as the Blues’ asking price exceeds €35m.

According to TEAMTalk, Como aren’t the only club interested in Chalobah, with Crystal Palace and Fulham also keen.

The report claims that Como have made the ‘strongest move’ for the Chelsea defender so far.

Corriere dello Sport has reported that Inter are also keeping a close eye on the English centre-back who is currently on international duty at the 2026 World Cup.

Atletico Madrid look to old and new Milan midfield targets

29 June 2026 at 19:39

Diario AS in Spain reports that Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka, previously linked with Milan, has been offered to Atletico Madrid, yet the Colchoneros are also interested in Morten Hjulmand, another player on the Rossoneri’s radar.

Milan and Atletico Madrid’s transfer strategies could be intertwined in the central midfield.

Milan targets wanted by Atletico Madrid

The latest report from Diario AS, in fact, claims that Goretzka has been offered to the Spanish side on a free transfer.

Back in April, Gazzetta reported that Goretzka had given the green light to join Milan this summer, but there have been no fresh developments in recent weeks, possibly also due to Massimiliano Allegri’s sacking.

The Italian tactician, in fact, is said to be a long-time admirer of Goretzka, who announced his departure from Bayern Munich as a free agent months ago.

According to AS, Atletico are currently assessing Goretzka but have also set their sights on another Milan target, Sporting CP star Hjulmand.

A former Lecce midfielder, Hjulmand played under new Milan coach Amorim at Sporting CP and for this reason there have been recent reports regarding the Rossoneri’s interest in the Dane.

Milan will be looking for midfield reinforcement later this summer as Matteo Moretto has reported that the Rossoneri’s priority for the coming weeks will be to sign a new central defender.

Modric praises Inter midfielder and warns: ‘The end of my career is near’

29 June 2026 at 18:56

Milan star Luka Modric admits the end of his career is ‘near’ and praises his compatriot and Inter star Petar Sucic for a ‘phenomenal’ performance against Ghana at the 2026 World Cup.

Milan star Modric gave an interview to Gazzetta dello Sport on Monday, in which he also discussed his plans for the future.

Modric: ‘I try to enjoy it as much as I can’

His contract with Milan formally expires at the end of the month. The Rossoneri are reportedly open to activating a clause to extend it until 2027, but are waiting on the Croatian star’s decision.

Modric will turn 41 in September, and this will surely be his final World Cup.

“I enjoy every moment, every training session, every game,” he said.

“I know I’m of a certain age and that the end of my career is near. I try to enjoy it as much as I can, but it’s not easy, especially given the enormous pressure on the national team.”

Modric is the captain and leader of a Croatia national team filled with Serie A stars, including Inter midfielder Sucic.

The 22-year-old, who has just completed his first season at Inter, scored the opening goal in a 2-1 win over Ghana on Saturday, which allowed Croatia to finish as runners-up in Group L, one point below England.

“He [Sucic] put in a phenomenal performance, proving to be the present, not just the future, of the national team,” Modric said.

“Credit to him for what he’s been doing since he joined the team. May he continue like this.”

Lastly, Modric also talked about the controversial hydration breaks at the World Cup: “It’s a matter we have to examine, but I don’t feel like saying it’s a problem,” he concluded.

Milan have already made Pulisic transfer decision amid New York City FC interest

29 June 2026 at 18:17

Milan and USMNT star Christian Pulisic has caught the attention of New York City FC. However, the Serie A giants are not willing to sell him this summer and are reportedly determined to activate a clause to extend his contract for another season.

The Athletic journalist Tom Bogert confirmed in an interview with CBS Sports that NYCFC have explored an “expensive” deal with Milan for Pulisic, but the Rossoneri have made it clear that the 27-year-old is not for sale this summer.

“Milan are in a transitional period, with a new head coach and entirely new directors. They say Christian Pulisic is not for sale.” Bogert said.

Technically, Pulisic has just one year left in his contract with Milan, yet the Serie A giants have already decided to activate an option to extend his stay until 2028.

It is understood that Milan have also been in talks with Pulisic’s entourage about a new agreement beyond 2028, but no agreement has been reached between the two parties.

Pulisic, 27, joined Milan from Chelsea in a €20m deal in 2023 and has netted 42 goals in 134 appearances with the Rossoneri since.

Transfer expert explains Milan’s stance on Mount and next priority after Ramos deal

29 June 2026 at 16:52

Transfer expert Matteo Moretto insists that Mason Mount is not on Milan’s shopping list this summer and adds that the Rossoneri have prioritised signing a centre-back after securing a deal for Gonçalo Ramos.

Milan are preparing to welcome their first summer signing as the Serie A giants reportedly struck a deal with PSG for Gonçalo Ramos this past weekend.

Some Italian sources reported on Sunday that, after signing a new centre-forward, the Rossoneri were keen to reinforce their central midfield area, setting their sights on Manchester United man Mount.

Moretto, however, pointed out on YouTube that the Rossoneri have a different transfer strategy, having prioritised signing a new central defender.

Moretto said Mount is not on Milan’s radar at the moment and that the Rossoneri are “110%” focused on signing a new centre-back.

The Italian transfer expert insisted that Milan want to get a “high-level” reinforcement in central defence this summer.

Other Italian sources have already identified Benfica’s Antonio Silva as one of Milan’s main targets at the back.

As for new central midfielders, Moretto argued that Milan must first offload some of those who will return to the club after a one-season loan spell.

After that and after signing a new central defender, they will likely focus on central midfield, but it seems improbable that they’ll try to go for Mount.

Allegri expected to terminate Milan contract today before Napoli move

29 June 2026 at 16:23

Sky Sport Italia reports that Massimiliano Allegri is expected to terminate his contract with Milan today, before being appointed as the new Napoli coach.

Former Milan coach Allegri is expected to agree to a contract termination with the Rossoneri today.

He remains under contract with Milan, so he must reach an agreement over an exit package before formally leaving the club and being free to sign for another side.

Milan have recently reshaped their club management, so Allegri and the new Rossoneri directors are expected to shake hands today, according to Sky Sport.

Matteo Moretto confirms that the two parties will formalise the termination of their contract “in the coming hours.”

Once Allegri terminates his contract with his previous club, he’ll sign and be announced as the new Napoli coach.

Napoli and Allegri reached an agreement a few weeks ago, and the Italian tactician is expected to put pen to paper on a two-year deal.

Gabriel Jesus: Arsenal striker drops Serie A transfer hint, makes honest Ancelotti admission

29 June 2026 at 15:58

Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus reveals he ‘dreamed of playing’ in Italy as a kid and admits Carlo Ancelotti was right to keep him out of the Brazil squad at the 2026 World Cup: ‘I didn’t deserve it.’

Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus leaves the door open for a possible summer move to Serie A.

Gabriel Jesus: ‘I grew up watching Serie A’

There have been reports across Italian and English media in recent weeks that both Juventus and Milan are interested in a potential deal, and the striker told Gazzetta: “I grew up watching Serie A and dreamed of playing in Italy. Scoring two goals at San Siro against Inter was like making that dream come true. I don’t know my future, I’m working now and we’ll see what happens with Arsenal.”

The 29-year-old scored six goals in 27 appearances across all competitions with Arsenal in 2025-26, and his contract in North London runs out in June 2027. The Brazilian described himself as “a happy guy, who jokes with everyone, even Calafiori, who plays with me at Arsenal.

“Calafiori loves Brazil like I love Italy. Now he’s in Brazil, he sends me photos and Brazilian music,” the striker revealed.

Gabriel Jesus’ lack of playing time with Arsenal in 2025-26 cost him a place in the Brazil national team squad for the 2026 World Cup, but the Arsenal man has no hard feelings towards Ancelotti.

“I don’t think I was even that close to getting into the team,” admitted the striker.

“There have been other players called up many times in the last year and then cut anyway. If you ask me, ‘Did you deserve to be on the list?’ I say no.'”

The Arsenal striker revealed the last time he talked to Ancelotti: “We spoke in January, when I was scoring goals. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any minutes at the end of the season and, to be honest, that’s why I didn’t deserve to be at the World Cup. I understand these situations.

“Everyone has to respect him [Ancelotti],” concluded Gabriel Jesus.

“He is the most successful. What impressed me most were the words of those who worked with him: he is open, he makes the team a family.”

How Serie A Continues to Shape Football Despite Italy’s World Cup Flop

29 June 2026 at 12:48

Italy has missed out on the World Cup for the third consecutive time. However, 66 players from Italy’s top league will participate in this important football competition, demonstrating that Serie A still plays a significant role in European football.

A new Serie A campaign is just around the corner, and the latest Italian soccer betting odds are already gaining significant traction after the 2026-27 fixture list was drawn up last week.

Italian coaches and Serie A stars at the 2026 the Cup

As we know, Italy won’t be participating in the 2026 World Cup, missing out on the competition for the third time in a row.

However, Italy remain one of the most successful football countries and one of the eight nations to have ever won the World Cup.

Sixty-six players from Italy’s top flight will be participating in the World Cup, as well as three Italian coaches: Carlo Ancelotti (Brazil), Vincenzo Montella (Turkey) and Fabio Cannavaro (Uzbekistan).

These figures prove that Italian football remains highly attractive worldwide, even though the Azzurri have been unable to qualify for the World Cup since 2014.

Furthermore, many Italian players have joined some big Premier League clubs in recent years and won the Champions League with foreign sides.

Gigio Donnarumma lifted the 2024-25 Champions League with PSG, just a few months before joining another European giant, Manchester City.

Riccardo Calafiori has made history with Arsenal by contributing to their first Premier League title in 22 years this season.

Giovanni Leoni completed a big-money move to Liverpool in 2025, and his development in England was only halted by an unfortunate cruciate ligament injury on his debut with the Reds, which forced him to the sidelines for the entire 2025-26 campaign.

Don’t forget Guglielmo Vicario and Destiny Udogie, who won the Europa League in 2024-25, and even Michael Kayode, who has become one of the best right-backs in the Premier League, playing with Brentford.

Italy have also won several trophies at a youth level in recent years, including the U17 European Championship this summer.

“Our family, Italy, is built on certain principles, and all of our youth teams have consistently performed well and won trophies,” Italy caretaker coach Silvio Baldini said earlier in June, after taking charge of two friendlies against Luxembourg and Greece.

“The problem has always been the step from the Under-21s to the senior national team. I believe that step is less steep now after these displays.”

Baldini called up 19 debutants out of 24 for his two friendlies with the Azzurri in June, but the 67-year-old is expected to return to the U21 squad in September with the FIGC appointing a new head coach for the senior team.

Which future for Rafael Leao?

However, while attention is focused on potential arrivals, the future of another Portuguese international could dominate the headlines at San Siro in the coming weeks.

Rafael Leão continues to be linked with a move away from Milan, with the Rossoneri reportedly prepared to listen to offers in the region of €50m for their star winger.

Would that fee represent one of the bargains of the 2026 summer transfer window, or is Leão a player whose inconsistencies make him a risky investment?

Lorenzo Bettoni and Ben Dixon discuss the debate in the latest episode of the Football Italia Summer show feature.
