Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is being seriously underrated
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is a very powerful and expensive phone, but it now feels like the phone is being underrated. It is one of the best-selling Galaxy flagships, launched early last year, and it costs around $1200. As a phone, it is still extremely powerful as the hardware is top-class. But despite being a premium device, it does not always feel like it is getting premium software treatment.
The reason behind this feeling is the way Samsung is handling updates, including beta versions of One UI 8.5 and One UI 9. One UI 8.5 beta program for the Galaxy S25 Ultra lasted almost five months. During this time, users were testing unfinished software for a long period, facing bugs and waiting for stability improvements. It did not feel like a fully polished flagship experience.
Even after the stable One UI 8.5 update was released alongside the Galaxy S26 series in January 2026, Galaxy S25 Ultra users still had to wait longer for the stable version.Β This delay made the phone feel slightly behind, even though it is still a very new flagship.

Now, the situation with One UI 9 makes things even more concerning. Samsung has already started One UI 9 beta testing for the Galaxy S26 series in limited countries.
However, there is no confirmation that the Galaxy S25 series will be included in the One UI 9 beta program. This means a one-year-old $1200 flagship may not get early access to the next major Android 17-based testing phase, which feels disappointing for many users.
There is also frustration about security updates. The May 2026 security patch reportedly reached the Galaxy S23 series and some A-series phones earlier than the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Even though the update eventually arrived for Galaxy S25 users, it came after delays and after users expressed frustration online.
Due to these updatesβ delay, many users feel the Galaxy S25 Ultra is being underrated in terms of software support. Older flagships and even mid-range phones sometimes appear to receive updates faster, which makes the situation more frustrating.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is still a top-tier flagship in hardware, but the update experience makes it feel less prioritized than expected for its price. If you are using the Galaxy S25 Ultra, whatβs your opinion on this? Share your thoughts in the comments on social media platforms.
