Transform Your Travel And Support Black Artists With ARTE NOIR And Green Book Global

ARTE NOIR, located in Seattle, Washington, is a nonprofit startup devoted to supporting Black artists and culture through travel. It is located in Seattle’s Historic Central District and is dedicated to preserving Black culture. This partnership brings travel and culture together and is a significant step in supporting communities that are often overlooked.

Fusion of Travel and Culture

The partnership with travel culture innovatively supports ARTE NOIR. Green Book Global is designed to help Black travelers and is a mobile app focused on safe and inclusive travel. Part of their revenue will support ARTE NOIR. Because of this partnership, daily travel helps sustain Black culture and support Black artists and creators in Seattle.

Green Book Global enhances modern travel for Black travelers

Lawrence Phillips, founder of Green Book Global, focuses on finding new ways for Black travelers to safely access the travel world while helping the community. Phillips also stated the importance of history, the present, and the future of culture and expressed it through supporting Black-led businesses. The funds from Green Book Global will support the mission of ARTE NOIR, which includes new exhibitions, youth training, and community events.

Supporting Black Culture through Travel with ARTE NOIR

With this collaboration, Green Book Global will add new features for travelers to support ARTE NOIR initiatives. The app’s most exciting feature is the “Driving While Black Road Trip Planner.” This planner helps Black travelers and their families safely navigate dangerous areas and informs them of cities and towns with racist histories. The app uses a stoplight color system to rate the safety level of each city along the route, which makes planning a trip easier and less stressful.

Besides that, the app has a feature that provides a “Black-Friendly City Score.” This score assesses how safe, accessible, and welcoming various cities are for Black people. Another useful feature is the app’s listing of more than 2,500 Black-owned eateries. This allows travelers to conveniently support Black-owned businesses when they are on the go. With the app, travelers can also generate personalized travel itineraries in 30 seconds with the AI trip planner, making tailoring travel for individual needs quicker and easier!

ARTE NOIR provides a space to display the work of Black artists and engage with the local community. Located in the heart of Seattle’s Central District, the organization runs on a 70/30 gallery model, with the Black artists contributing to the gallery receiving 100% of net sales. On top of that, ARTE NOIR has community events throughout the year and trains youth in the community on music production to help foster the next generation of creatives.

Supporting Local Creators while Helping Travelers

One of the more rewarding benefits of the partnership is that ARTE NOIR Members can access a special section of the Green Book Global app. This enables travelers to engage with and meet fellow supporters of Black culture and Black art. With booked trips through ARTE NOIR’s partners like Expedia, Hotels.com, and Marriott, a portion of the revenue earned through commissions goes to financing ARTE NOIR’s activities. This means that every trip booked through these services is a means to support Black artistry and champion the preservation of Black culture.

ARTE NOIR’s Executive Director, Jazmyn Scott, commented on the essence of art in under-documented communities and its potential to connect disparate lives to a shared history. This new partnership is designed with the specific focus of championing support towards Black artists, empowering patrons with the means to travel intentionally and safely.

Preserve History and Build Future Connections

Through this collaboration, we acknowledge and value the importance of history. “ARTE NOIR’s founder, Vivian Phillips, points out the organization’s address in Seattle’s Central District, an area of great importance to many Black families who moved to Seattle in the 1950s. For this community, ARTE NOIR intends to build and foster a cultural legacy. Phillips indicated that this new collaboration with Green Book Global works to ensure the legacy of families like hers will be preserved and honored.”

The Green Book Global app is designed to enable Black travelers to have a safer and more accessible travel experience. The collaboration made between Green Book Global and ARTE NOIR helps enhance the interconnection of travel, culture, and community.

Conclusion: A New Approach to Mobilizing Cultural Preservation and Empowerment

Now that ARTE NOIR is celebrating its 3rd anniversary, we are proud to take our partnership with Green Book Global and shift into another phase of celebrating and uplifting Black culture and supporting local artists. The two Black-led organizations, merged at the intersection of travel and culture, practically embody the influential shift since the partnership is proven to harness the power of Black-led initiatives. This unique partnership not only recognizes the vital contribution of Black artists but also provides travelers with opportunities to support and celebrate Black culture in new, meaningful ways.
