Jetstar launches direct flights from Sunshine Coast to Singapore via Bali starting March 2026, connecting Sunshine Coast to global destinations and boosting tourism.

In an exciting move that will change the travel landscape of the Sunshine Coast, Jetstar has unveiled its new direct flight service to Singapore, with a stopover in Bali, starting March 2026. This marks a monumental step forward for the region, offering locals and international travelers a seamless gateway to two of Asia’s most iconic destinations. The announcement promises to catapult the Sunshine Coast into the international spotlight, boosting its tourism and business potential.

Sunshine Coast Airport (SCA), one of Australia’s fastest-growing aviation hubs, will serve as the launch point for this eagerly awaited service. For the first time, residents will have direct access to Southeast Asia’s prime business and leisure destinations, setting the stage for new tourism opportunities and economic growth.

A New Era of Travel for the Sunshine Coast

Jetstar’s direct flights will operate three times a week, connecting Sunshine Coast Airport with Bali (Denpasar) before continuing on to Singapore. This innovative new route will cater to the growing demand for international travel, making it easier than ever for Sunshine Coast residents to fly directly to these vibrant destinations.

Chris Mills, CEO of Sunshine Coast Airport, celebrated the announcement, calling it a “game-changer” for the region. “This is a transformational moment for the Sunshine Coast. It’s not just about a new flight route; it’s about opening up the world to our region. For the first time, locals will have direct access to Bali, a top travel destination, and Singapore, one of the world’s most connected travel hubs,” said Mills.

Singapore’s strategic position in global air travel, with connections to over 100 destinations across Asia, Europe, and beyond, will significantly enhance the Sunshine Coast’s global accessibility. Mills emphasized that this route will also support the local economy by attracting more international visitors and providing better opportunities for trade and investment.

Jetstar’s Bold Move to Expand Sunshine Coast’s International Network

Jetstar’s new service will use the airline’s modern Airbus A321LR aircraft, offering more than 70,000 seats annually. The flights will operate from Sunshine Coast Airport to Bali every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday, with return flights departing from Bali every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. The route offers more than just a convenient holiday option – it’s a gateway for business, tourism, and cultural exchange.

Stephanie Tully, CEO of Jetstar Group, shared her excitement about the new route, highlighting its importance for both leisure and business travelers. “We’re thrilled to be the first airline to offer direct flights from the Sunshine Coast to Bali and Singapore. This new service is designed for travelers who want to make the most of their time – bypassing the long drive to Brisbane and heading straight to paradise instead,” Tully said.

Boosting Local Business and Tourism

This direct connection to Southeast Asia is not only a milestone for the Sunshine Coast’s aviation network but also a major win for local tourism. The new flights are expected to generate substantial benefits for the region’s hospitality, retail, and service sectors. Local businesses are anticipating a surge in both inbound and outbound travel, with more international visitors now able to experience the Sunshine Coast’s world-famous beaches, stunning hinterland, and vibrant culture.

The Sunshine Coast, which boasts a thriving tourism industry, has long been a favourite getaway for Australians, and now the world will have easier access to this pristine coastal paradise. Queensland’s Minister for Tourism, Craig Davidson, expressed his support for the new service, noting that the flights would strengthen Queensland’s position as an internationally connected destination.

“This new service will play a pivotal role in attracting more international visitors to Queensland, making it even easier for travelers from Asia and beyond to explore all the wonders our state has to offer,” Davidson said.

A Strategic Leap for Sunshine Coast’s Economy

Fiona Simpson, the Member for Maroochydore, praised the route as a significant economic opportunity for local businesses. “This direct flight service is a game-changer. It will open up new avenues for trade, tourism, and investment, which is fantastic news for Sunshine Coast businesses and the community at large,” Simpson said.

With the Sunshine Coast being one of Queensland’s most dynamic regions, this new international connection is expected to serve as a catalyst for the region’s economic development. The Sunshine Coast Airport’s recently announced terminal redevelopment is expected to further enhance the infrastructure, creating new opportunities for growth in the coming years.

Looking Ahead: The Future of Sunshine Coast Travel

As Sunshine Coast Airport continues to grow, the region’s tourism and business opportunities are expanding along with it. Jetstar’s new flights to Singapore via Bali are a major step in the right direction, but they are far from the only development. With the Sunshine Coast becoming a key hub for international travelers, the future is looking brighter than ever for this beautiful Queensland destination.

For now, Sunshine Coast residents can look forward to more travel choices, with Jetstar’s direct flights providing them with an easy path to explore the world and connect with international markets. The arrival of this new service reflects the growing appeal of the Sunshine Coast as a globally connected destination and will likely spark more international interest in this coastal paradise.
