Florida State running back Kam Davis plans to enter the transfer portal, according to On3’s Pete Nakos. He has three years of eligibility remaining.

Davis played in four games this year and ran just eight times for 51 yards and a touchdown. In 13 games over the course of two seasons, Davis had 60 carries for 224 yards and a touchdown.

As a member of the Class of 2024, Davis was a four-star recruit out of Albany (Ga.) Dougherty, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. He was the No. 16 overall prospect in the state, the No. 11 running back in the class and the No. 125 overall prospect in the class.

Florida State RB Kam Davis to enter portal

Davis was not the first one to plan to enter the portal this cycle. DB Edwin Joseph announced his intentions earlier this month.

Joseph is a native of Hollywood, Florida, where he played at Chaminade-Madonna Prep. He was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2023. Within that recruiting cycle, Joseph was the 345th-ranked player overall and the 11th-ranked athlete.

While in high school, Joseph won back-to-back state championships. In 2022, he was also named a Nat Moore Trophy finalist.

In 2023, Joseph would play in four games, utilizing a redshirt that season. By 2024, he had played in all 12 games for the Florida State defense, and in 2025, he was a consistent starter at the safety position. For his career, he’d finish playing in 28 games for the Seminoles. During that time, he had 51 total tackles, 7.0 tackles for a loss, and 1.5 sacks. He would also snag four interceptions and defend nine passes. The vast majority of that production came during the 2025 season.

Coaching in Cure Bowl hits home for ODU’s Rahne

Old Dominion and USF are set to face off Wednesday in the Cure Bowl at Camping World Stadium in downtown Orlando.

Since the game’s inception in 2015, the Cure Bowl has raised over $6 million for cancer research.

Coaching in the Cure Bowl hits home for Old Dominion head coach Ricky Rahne. His mother Deb battled and beat breast cancer. She will be at the game on Wednesday cheering on her son and his Monarchs.

“The fact that this amount of money can be served to just get one more person, like me, to have 10 to 15 more years with their mom is a pretty special thing,” said Rahne during Monday’s Cure Bowl press conference. “I think that’s something that, when you think about a bowl, has a lot of impact, to say that we get to go play one more game, and we get to spend three more weeks with each other, and maybe somebody else gets to spend three more years with their mom or aunt or whoever, It’s pretty impactful.”

Tickets to the game start at $25 and can purchased by visiting CureBowl.com/tickets.

Wednesday’s Cure Bowl kickoff is set for 5:00 on ESPN.

Oklahoma State QB Zane Flores plans to enter NCAA transfer portal

Oklahoma State quarterback Zane Flores plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, per On3’s Pete Nakos. Flores just wrapped up his third season in Stillwater, getting playing time in 2025. However, a new regime coming to town means Flores will also look for a new opportunity.

Flores played high school football at Gretna (NE), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 467 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Nine games played resulted in 1,490 yards, three touchdowns, and seven interceptions for Flores. He completed just under 60% of his throws, coming in at 59.8%. In a season where quarterback was a roller coaster for Oklahoma State, Flores emerged as the team’s leading passer.

Plenty of eligibility remains for Flores wherever he lands. A medical hardship waiver was secured for the 2024 season after not seeing any action. Add in a redshirt the previous year and Flores just wrapped up his redshirt freshman campaign. Three years of eligibility are expected for him.

“That’s one thing about Zane, he’s so level-headed,” Oklahoma State wide receiver Terrill Davis said of Flores leading into the Oregon game. “He’s a great leader and you can just tell in practice. Like, he goes out there and does the job. He leads the team well. So, we’re excited to have Zane.”

Flores committed to Oklahoma State over other notable power conference programs, including Kansas, Kansas State, and Missouri. Mike Gundy was the head coach at the time, helping develop Flores all the way until his firing in late September. Eric Morris is now in charge at Oklahoma State, getting hired via North Texas.

More on Oklahoma State, quarterback situation during 2025 season

Five different quarterbacks threw a pass for Oklahoma State during the 2025 season. One of those was Sam Jackson, who was not originally on the team to play the position. Different injuries and coaching decisions played a big role.

Hauss Hejny was announced as the starter for the opener vs. UT Martin but wound up only throwing 10 passes on the year. Five of those were completed for 96 yards and a touchdown. Noah Walters attempted 14 throws, followed by Banks Bowen‘s five.

Morris will be hoping for a little more stability at quarterback heading into 2026. Unfortunately, it does not appear as if Flores is part of those plans.

Charles Barkley on NIL, transfer portal: ‘You should not have the ability to get a better offer every year’

NBA legend Charles Barkley has not been shy about his thoughts on NIL and the transfer portal. During Saturday’s Kentucky vs. Indiana broadcast, he candidly discussed the landscape again.

Barkley called the game on ESPN alongside Dick Vitale, the first of two games they will work together. Vitale called for “stability” in college basketball – and college sports as a whole – because of the amount of player movement via the portal. He used Indiana as an example since new coach Darian DeVries virtually built the program from scratch.

While Barkley acknowledged he’s in favor of athletes making money through NIL, he also called out players staying more than their four years of eligibility. In addition, he disagreed with the idea of athletes being allowed to seek better offers after every season.

“No. 1, I’m not opposed to players getting paid,” Barkley said on the broadcast. “I always want my players to get treated fairly. But I can’t remember the last time I heard the word, COVID. Some of these guys have been in college for six or seven years. If you’re in college for six or seven years, your name better be, ‘Dr. Somebody.’ You should not still be playing college basketball after six or seven years.

“But you should not have the ability to get a better offer every year. That’s not fair to any school that you are affiliated with because I can’t even do that. None of us can do that, take a better – Amazon, anybody or FOX Sports can come and say, ‘Well, we’ll give you more money and you can leave after every year.’ That’s not fair. … We’ve got to put some guardrails on these sports.”

One of the other new parts of the college basketball landscape is G-League players seeking eligibility. The NCAA has changed its approach regarding players who played in the G-League, arguing they were not professional athletes in a way the old rule said. Instead, if those players are within five years of their high school graduation, they could become eligible unless they went through the NBA Draft process or signed an NBA contract.

To Charles Barkley, that’s another area that needs fixing. He does not think former G-League players should be able to play college basketball.

“We’ve got guys playing in the G-League coming back to college sports now,” he said. “I don’t think that’s fair.”
