Iowa State QB Alex Manske plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal

Jerome Miron | Imagn Images

Iowa StateQB Alex Manske was well-regarded as an in-state signee last year for the Cyclones. However, amidst the coaching change, he intends to now play elsewhere next season.

Manske plans to enter his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal. He shared that news in a posted graphic on social media, thanking the fanbase for his one year spent there, on Friday.

— Alex Manske (@AlexManske4) December 26, 2025

“These past few weeks have been crazy and nothing any of us expected,” wrote Manske. “First of all, I’d like to thank God for all of His blessings, including the opportunities that He has given me within the game of football. I’d like to thank Coach Campbell and the staff for believing in me and supporting me throughout this journey. I’ll forever be grateful for all you have done for me. I’d also like to thank Iowa State University, the fans, and the community for your support this past year. You guys make Ames a special place to be. To my teammates, I am so grateful for all of my friendships we’ve made. I will forever cherish the time we spent together and the many memories we created this year.”

“Finally, I want to thank my family and friends for their unwavering support and for always being there for me when I need it the most,” Manske wrote. “After much consideration and many conversations with my family, I have made the decision to enter the transfer portal with four years of remaining eligibility.”

Manske, a reserve quarterback as a true freshman this year behind QB Rocco Becht, appeared in three games for Iowa State. He completed four of five pass attempts for 28 yards, while having rushed seven times for 33 yards and a score.

A native of Algona, Manske ranked as a Top-300 overall recruit and as a four-star in the 2025 recruiting cycle. He also rated as the No. 20 QB in the class last year and as the No. 2 player out of the state of Iowa, behind only TE Thomas Meyer (Iowa). That’s according to Rivals’ Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

UNLV quarterback Anthony Colandrea plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to On3’s Pete Nakos. It’s the second consecutive offseason Colandrea will transfer.

Colandrea is to transfer after one season as the Running’ Rebels starting quarterback. He also entered portal last offseason after spending his first two seasons as a starter at Virginia. Colander has 27 career appearances, 25 of those starts, for the Cavaliers and the Rebels.

In total, Colandrea has been one of the better dual-threat quarterbacks in the country while in Charlottesville and then Las Vegas. That’s as, in his career, he has posted 63.8% completion for 7,542 passing yards, 49 touchdowns, and 29 interceptions, while rushing for 1,151 yards and a dozen more scores. That averages him out to 263.4 total yards posted per game with 61 touchdowns overall while at UVA and UNLV.

Dan Lanning claims Joey McGuire has done ‘an unbelievable job’ building Texas Tech roster with NIL

© Jerome Miron-Imagn Images | © Craig Strobeck-Imagn Images

With a spot in the College Football Playoff Semifinals on the line, No. 4 Texas Tech and No. 5 Oregon will clash in the Capital One Orange Bowl on Jan. 1. The Ducks are seeking their first appearance in the Semifinals since they made a run to the National Championship in the inaugural CFP (2014), while Texas Tech is seeking its first ever CFP victory.

Both programs are great success stories of the Transfer Portal era, as many players that will suit up for either Texas Tech or Oregon in the matchup began their careers elsewhere.

High-level players such as Oregon quarterback Dante Moore (UCLA), Texas Tech linebacker Jacob Rodriguez (Virginia), Oregon running back Noah Whittington (Western Kentucky), and Texas Tech wide receiver Caleb Douglas (Florida) have all made their way to their respective programs by way of the Transfer Portal and have been immediate impact pieces.

Dan Lanning commends Joey McGuire and Texas Tech for mastering Transfer Portal

This past offseason, Texas Tech hauled in 21 players from the Portal, earning the No. 1 spot in On3’s 2025 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings. Their class boasted an estimated $7 million in adjusted NIL value, more than almost any other program in the sport.

Prior to the Ducks’ clash with Joey McGuire‘s Texas Tech program, Oregon head coach Dan Lanning commended him on building such a great roster with their strong NIL resources.

“He’s built a great roster,” Lanning said on Monday. “College football is about adapting. This is obviously a program that’s done an unbelievable job adapting and saying ‘let’s make our team the best it can possibly be’. They’ve done that this year. They deserve credit for how they’ve evaluated. There’s a lot of teams that take players out of the portal. There’s not a lot of those teams that necessarily have success evaluating that talent, getting them to play together, and creating a team that does that. This is a team that’s done that.”

As Lanning touched on, mastering the Portal is a very thin line. Five of the top-ten transfer classes this offseason helped their programs reach the College Football Playoff (No. 1 Texas Tech, No. 3 Ole Miss, No. 4 Oregon, No. 5 Miami, and No. 10 Ohio State), while three of the top-ten classes missed the postseason completely (No. 7 Auburn, No. 8 North Carolina, and No. 9 Rutgers).

The Orange Bowl matchup between No. 4 Texas Tech and No. 5 Oregon will surely be one of the most entertaining games in the entire College Football Playoff. Kick-off on Jan. 1 is scheduled for 12:00 PM on ESPN.

Texas A&M EDGE Solomon Williams plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, per On3’s Hayes Fawcett. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.

Williams spent two seasons in College Station, where he logged 11 total tackles including five tackles for loss. In 2025, he logged seven tackles.

He arrived on campus ahead of the 2024 season as a four-star recruit, per the Rivals Industry rankings, which is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. He was the No. 181 player in his class and No. 22 EDGE. Williams ranked as the 23rd player from the state of Florida. Williams was recruited by the likes of Texas, Alabama, North Carolina and Oregon, among others.

In high school, he logged 61 tackles as a junior, which included 32.0 tackles for loss and 15.5 sacks with one forced fumble. This was improved from his 32 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks as a sophomore.

His plan to enter the NCAA transfer portal comes several days after the Aggies’ season ended at home in the College Football Playoff. Losing to. Miami 10-3, Texas A&M’s season finishes with an 11-2 overall record which included wins in their first 11 matchups. It was the best start to a season for Texas A&M since 1992, when they finished the regular season with a 12-0 record.

Williams is the second Aggie to reveal his plan to enter the NCAA transfer portal in the last 24 hours. On Tuesday, Aggies defensive back Jayvon Thomas also revealed his plan to enter the portal to On3’s Hayes Fawcett as well.

Once the NCAA transfer portal opens on Jan. 2, players can officially enter their names in the NCAA transfer portal and go on to initiate contact with their preferred schools. The portal will be open for 15 days and close on Jan. 16.

Notably, players who are on teams competing in the national championship game are allowed five extra days to make their portal decision. The College Football Playoff championship game will be played on Jan. 19, so the players on those teams will be allowed until Jan. 24 to enter the portal and choose their next school.

As a member of the Class of 2023, Brahmer was a three-star recruit out of Pierce (Neb) High, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. He was the No. 3 overall prospect in the state, the No. 32 tight end in the class and the No. 600 overall prospect in the class.

To keep up with the latest players on the move, check out On3’s Transfer Portal wire. The On3 Transfer Portal Instagram account and Twitter account are excellent resources to stay up to date with the latest moves.

Carson Hansen also intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal, in addition Brahmer. The Iowa State changes come amid coach Matt Campbell leaving for Penn State.

Hansen played high school football at Lakeville (MN) Lakeville South, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 945 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Hansen wound up playing in 38 games at Iowa State, garnering 360 carries. He produced 1,769 yards and 19 touchdowns on the ground with those touches. An additional two scores and 337 yards came out of the backfield as a pass catcher.

This past season was his best, coming just shy of 1,000 rushing yards. Hansen had to settle for a career-high 950 but saw his touchdown total dip all the way to six after previously getting 13.

Top Performers from the 2025 Dade Vs. Broward All-Star Game

Anthony McQueen

OPA LOCKA, Fla. — Sunday brought forth several of the top 2026 high school football players attending schools from Miami-Dade and Broward County in the second annual Dade Vs. Broward Game presented by Adidas and the social media platform 305 Sports.

It was the last opportunity for many to showcase their talent to friends, family, and peers at Traz Powell Stadium. Dade defeated Broward 27-6. Here are some of the top talents that were on display.

Overall MVP – Kevin White Jr.

The three-star-rated cornerback out of Miami Palmetto hauled in two interceptions in the game on Sunday and has a knack for locating the football when airborne.

The former Toledo commit should be a solid contributor on the FBS level.

<iframe src='https://www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/17803174/6936f31f5079fbd819534e19' width='640' height='360' frameborder='0' allowfullscreen></iframe>

Quarterback MVP – Anthony McQueen

The Miami Central quarterback started the scoring with a 30-yard TD pass to Purdue signee Brandon Kinsey on his first play from scrimmage. He then went on to throw two more touchdown passes in the game, which made him a runaway for the QB MVP award.

He ended his night with a 38-yard touchdown strike to Savannah State commit Damani Downs.

<iframe src='https://www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/24139066/66fcb737e4392083e0b31978' width='640' height='360' frameborder='0' allowfullscreen></iframe>

RB MVP – Jayden Ford

The FIU signee was electric in the passing game, catching multiple passes for big chunk yards. He is a nightmare to tackle in space and is always a threat to take it the distance with the ball in his hands.

“Mook” should continue to make highlight plays in Dade County.

WR MVP – Malik Penson

Another FIU commit made a difference for Team Dade. Penson scored the second touchdown of the evening from McQueen and was consistently open on over-the-middle and sideline routes.

OL MVPs – Shermari Bowens, Anthony Bell

Bowens, a Florida A&M signee, was one of the most consistent offensive linemen in practice and in the game. The 6-foot-4, near 300-pounder can play multiple positions on the offensive line.

<iframe src='https://www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/20387598/68c185f334733320bae6e3ee' width='640' height='360' frameborder='0' allowfullscreen></iframe>

Bell has quick feet and can move very well at 6-foot-4 and 290 pounds. He consistently locked up defenders in the passing game and mauled in the running game. The FAMU commit is a player who will push for playing time on the next level.

<iframe src='https://www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/19625745/69018857206aefcac228c900' width='640' height='360' frameborder='0' allowfullscreen></iframe>

Interior DL MVPs – Roderick McFadden, Miguel Martinez

McFadden is a consistent people mover who clogs the middle and penetrates the line, causing disruption. He remains uncommitted but holds offers from Bethune, FIU, FAU, Western Kentucky, and Wofford.

Martinez, who plays with a high motor, bulldozed his way through to get a blocked punt and was constantly in the backfield, causing havoc. The 6-foot-3, 270-pound defensive lineman holds an offer from Temple.

<iframe src='https://www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/18673101/68c97505426f1e5d68b254aa' width='640' height='360' frameborder='0' allowfullscreen></iframe>

Edge MVP – RJ Alphonse

The Chaminade-Madonna edge signed with Eastern Michigan, and the Eagles should be excited to gain the South Florida talent to their roster.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound edge was disruptive every time he stepped on the field and could develop into a high-level college football player in the future.

Linebacker MVPs – Cleveland Gary, Tyrel Snelling

Both Gary and Snelling made critical tackles in the game and often were in the right place at the right time.

Gary, at 6-feet, 210 pounds, committed to Bryant University in September. The talent from Monsignor Pace is a physical tackler who can move from sideline to sideline.

<iframe src='https://www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/16121698/691e65fa502c7bce3e08dcaa' width='640' height='360' frameborder='0' allowfullscreen></iframe>

Miami Booker T. Washington backer, Snelling, is relentless in his pursuit of the football and has great bend to maneuver around blockers.

DB MVP – Tedrick Lee

The three-star rated safety from Columbus was a solid tackler in the Dade vs. Broward game. He made multiple tackles for loss and demonstrated his physicality both inside and outside the tackles.

He holds Power Four offers from Arkansas, Louisville, Mississippi State, Nebraska, and UCF.

Texas’ Michael Taaffe shares advice for athletes in NIL space

Michael Taaffe (Will Gallagher/Inside Texas)

As he came up from walk-on to All-American at Texas, Michael Taaffe took a calculated approach through NIL. He build a strong following with more than 80,000 followers across Instagram and X.

But when it came to navigating the space, Taaffe had a plan. His goal was to focus on long-term success, meaning he wanted to leave an impact on the greater community.

SUBSCRIBE to the On3 NIL and Sports Business Newsletter

That approach helped Taaffe win the Wuerrfel Trophy, the premier award for community service in college football. He took on a central role with Texas Against Fentanyl and visited children in local hospitals. Along the way, he wanted his brand to be about more than just NIL deals.

“How do you want your platform to be remembered?” Taaffe told On3 via Zoom on behalf of Allstate. “I think everybody is an entrepreneur in the game of football. You all have your own business. You all have your own brand. How do you want your brand to be remembered?

“When I say this, I don’t mean to take any shots at anybody, but do you want your brand to be filled of [an] Instagram filled of the local sandwich shop or the local smoothie shop or the local clothing store? Or, do you want it filled for good and significance in your life that will be far more important than $5,000 or $10,000? That’s how I truly live it.”

Michael Taaffe: ‘My calling is to give back’

Michael Taaffe admitted his approach to NIL was “different,” and he signed multiple deals during his time at Texas. He was part of Sonic’s activation along with some Longhorns teammates and Texas A&M players, and he joined Seat Geek’s initiative ahead of last year’s College Football Playoff.

That’s why Taaffe said there are multiple ways to go through the NIL landscape. His focus, though, was on giving back.

“There’s no wrong or right way to go about NIL,” Taaffe said. “It’s just, how do you want your business to be programmed and ran?

“I’ve been chosen to be on the side of, I want my brand to mimic who I am as a person. I believe that my calling is to give back. I’ve been trying to use my brand to give back.”

Oklahoma RB Jovantae Barnes plans to enter transfer portal

Kyle Ross | Imagn Images

According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, Oklahoma Sooners running back Jovantae Barnes plans on entering the NCAA transfer portal. Barnes spent four seasons in Norman, being classified as a senior on his official roster profile. He will look to spend 2026 elsewhere after finding success with OU.

Barnes holds an extra year of eligibility due to only playing in four games this past year. He last took the field on Sept. 20 in the Auburn game. It’s the lone SEC showdown Barnes appeared in after playing in all three nonconference showdowns.

Only 19 carries were given to him, resulting in 45 yards and a touchdown. The score came on the road against Temple, part of a major blowout favoring Oklahoma.

Taking a redshirt was something head coach Brent Venables discussed as recently as the last week of November. Oklahoma was set to host LSU for the season finale, a game where Barnes would have burned the redshirt had he played. Venables addressed the situation leading into the game.

“I think every case is a case of its own based on who that person has been and the body of work,” he said. “So try to navigate that appropriately just like you would discipline in the moment or big discipline issues. We have a set of rules but again, how you treat everybody based on — maybe if it’s a young guy, you give them a little more grace. An older guy, ‘Hey, man, you should know better.’ Things like that. The way you’re dealing with it is based on, again, who they’ve been since they’ve been here.”

Venables went on to say there was no issue when it came to Barnes. He was considered to be in good standing with the program.

Jovantae Barnes looking for fresh start after productive first three years

Barnes was a player Oklahoma had a ton of hope for, especially after a productive freshman season. His junior year wound up being the most productive in 2024, setting a career-high in rushing yards with 577. Five touchdowns are included in there as well. In total, Barnes rushed for 1,469 yards and 13 touchdowns during his time with Oklahoma.

Las Vegas (NV) Desert Pines is where Barnes played high school football, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 113 overall recruit in the 2024 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Notre Dame defensive back JaDon Blair plans to enter Transfer Portal

Michael Caterina-Imagn Images

Notre Dame defensive back JaDon Blair plans to enter the Transfer Portal, On3 has learned. The Irish safety has four years of eligibility remaining.

Blair played his high school football at Mount Tabor in Winston Salem, North Carolina. There, he was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2025. He was the 115th-ranked player overall in that recruiting cycle and the 11th-ranked safety. Coming out of high school, Charles Power of Rivals shared his scouting report on Blair.

“Massive safety prospect with the size, movement skills and physicality to potentially develop into a queen on the chessboard for defenses. Measured at 6-foot-4.5, 195 pounds at the On3 Elite Series prior to his senior season. Has outstanding length with 33-inch arms. Has the skills to line up all over the defensive formation. Moves like a much smaller player. High level feet and change of direction in coverage. Comfortable as a zone defender working in single high or cover two. Sticky in man coverage. Active playmaker at the catch point,” Power wrote.

“Using his length and physicality to make plays on the ball. Came down with four interceptions as a junior. Diagnoses plays quickly. Rugged effort level as a downhill run defender. Plays with a physical edge and throws his body around. Still relatively lean and will benefit from adding strength and technique as a tackler. One of the youngest top safeties in the cycle, turning 17 years-old in July prior to his senior season of high school. Owns one of the higher upsides at the position in the 2024 cycle due to his high-end physical traits.”

He is the son of Ja’Warren Blair, a football player who played his college football at ECU. Later, he’d go on to have a professional career that included time in the NFL and NFL Europe.

In his one season at Notre Dame, Blair appeared in just one game. That was the blowout win over Syracuse. He managed to record his first career assisted tackle during that game.

Changes coming to the Transfer Portal

There are several changes coming to the Transfer Portal this cycle that both players and teams need to contend with. This comes amid efforts to alleviate the pressure put on during the December calendar.

There is now one Transfer Portal period, the Winter Window. The Spring Window has been removed entirely. Meanwhile, the Winter Window was shortened to just 10 days. This comes after the Division I Football Oversight Committee voted to do so. The NCAA Division I Administration Committee initially only approved the move of the window and later approved the decision to shorten it as well.

The Transfer Portal is set to officially open on January 2nd. It will be open through January 16th for players to enter the portal.

North Carolina QB Bryce Baker plans to enter NCAA Transfer Portal

Jim Dedmon | Imagn Images

North Carolina quarterback Bryce Baker plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal. Baker was a freshman at UNC this past season and didn’t see any action for the Tar Heels.

Baker was a backup for North Carolina QB1 Gio Lopez. Lopez completed 65.1% of his pass attempts for 1,747 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, compared to five interceptions. North Carolina finished head coach Bill Belichick’s debut campaign with a 4-8 overall record and a 2-6 mark in conference play.

Bryce Baker played high school football at East Forsyth (NC), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 87 overall player and No. 9 QB in the 2025 recruiting cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings.

In his senior season in high school, Baker threw for 3,523 yards and 40 touchdowns, while only throwing five interceptions. Moreover, he logged 303 yards and six scores in the ground game.

South Carolina QB Air Noland plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal

Katie Dugan | GamecockCentral

Air Noland was a very interesting portal addition last offseason as far as the future of the quarterback position at South Carolina. However, for the second time in as many offseasons now, he’s apparently set to transfer again.

Noland plans to enter his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Noland has spent one season apiece at two programs, as he redshirted at Ohio State, as part of a team for the Buckeyes that won the national title in the College Football Playoff, before coming to South Carolina. He then made his first career appearances this past fall as a backup for the Gamecocks.

After not playing while in Columbus, Noland appeared off the sideline in two non-conference wins, one early in the year and one late, this season in Columbia. He came off the sideline in wins over South Carolina State in September and Coastal Carolina in November, as he is 2-3 (66.7%) for 13 yards while also having a rush for four yards.

A native of College Park, Georgia, Noland played his high school football at Langston Hughes in Fairburn. He ranked as a Top-60 overall recruit there and as a four-star prospect in the 2024 recruiting cycle. He also rated as the No. 5 QB in the class and as a Top-10 player out of the state of Georgia. That’s according to Rivals’ Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’d then arrive as one of the top signees for the Buckeyes in what was the No. 4 class in the country per Rivals’ Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

However, Noland has yet to be able to win a starting job to this point early in his career. He wasn’t expected to start last year at Ohio State, behind names like Will Howard, Devin Brown, Julian Sayin, and Lincoln Kienholz, as well as the eventual arrival the next offseason of Tavien St. Clair. However, after a year of backing up LaNorris Sellers, Noland likely expected to take the job for the Gamecocks as early as next fall, but Sellers is now anticipated to stay for another season at South Carolina rather than entering his name into the 2026 NFL Draft.

Noland has yet to get a real opportunity through two seasons at two programs in his collegiate career. He’ll now be looking for that in his third team in as many years, being a redshirt sophomore there with three years of eligibility remaining wherever he ends up next, once his name is officially in come the opening of the portal’s two-week window on January 2nd.
