Samsung begins One UI 8.5 development for Galaxy M series
Earlier this month, Samsung started the One UI 8.5 Beta Program for the Galaxy S25 series in a few selected countries. Meanwhile, the company is also testing One UI 8.5 internally for other flagship phones, Galaxy A series devices, and Galaxy tablets. Now, Samsung has started working on the One UI 8.5 update for Galaxy M series phones as well.
A reliable tipster, @Mohammed_K_2010, has spotted the first One UI 8.5 testing build for the Samsung Galaxy M54. This shows that Samsung has begun preparing this major update for the device. The new test build, M546BXXU9FYL1, appeared on Samsungβs test servers in several countries, including Thailand, Vietnam, Iraq, Malaysia, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia.
The Galaxy M54 is the first phone from the Galaxy M series to be seen running a One UI 8.5 test build. This is an important sign that Samsung is expanding its internal testing to include more Galaxy devices. It also suggests that the development of One UI 8.5 is moving forward steadily.

So far, Samsung has released two beta updates for the Galaxy S25 series. More Galaxy devices may get access to beta features in the future. However, Galaxy M series phones are not eligible for Samsungβs Beta Program. It means that Galaxy M series users will have to wait for the stable version of the One UI 8.5 update.
Samsung has already confirmed that the stable One UI 8.5 update will debut with the Galaxy S26 series next year. After that, Samsung will gradually roll out the update to more Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Stay tuned for more information as Samsung continues to develop and expand One UI 8.5, internally testing on more devices.
