Breaking: Galaxy S26 features Samsung-designed GPU
For years, Samsung has used graphics technology from other companies. Most recently, the company worked with AMD to create βXclipseβ GPUs for their high-end phones. While these were powerful, Samsung still relied on AMDβs underlying architecture.
With the Exynos 2600, that is changing.
Samsung has reportedly moved to a 100% in-house design for the Galaxy S26 GPU. While this first version still uses AMDβs basic framework, the company plans to move to its own complete architecture in the very near future.
Hereβs what you can expect:
- Better gaming: The new design focuses on high performance with lower power use.
- Faster AI: Samsung-designed GPU would let the Galaxy S26 process AI features directly on the device much faster.
- Lower costs: By not paying licensing fees to other companies, Samsung can save money in the long run.
A related report just revealed that Samsung plans to take full control of mobile graphics by 2027. The Exynos 2800, expected in the Galaxy S28 series, could be the first to use a full-fledged Samsung graphics processing unit.
Samsung has been bringing AMD-based Xclipse GPUs since Exynos 2200. Starting in 2023, the company has started to handle design work of the graphics units, and the latest SoC features a βDesigned by Samsungβ GPU.
The Exynos 2600 is currently in the mass production stage. Samsung fans can expect to see the results of this new βMade by Samsungβ graphics technology when the Galaxy S26 launches, which is expected in early 2026.
Exynos 2600 is also the worldβs first chipset made using a 2nm process. Itβs a cutting-edge chip node that offers improved performance and efficiency. The gap with its Snapdragon counterpart wonβt be huge like previous generations.
