Galaxy S26 Ultra warns about Qi2 Magnetic cases interfering with S Pen

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra requires Magnetic cases for Qi2 charging, and using a third-party case might end up troubling the S Pen functionality.

The Korean tech giant is playing it safe with magnets this year. The Galaxy S26 Ultra does not have built-in Qi2 magnets. If you want that snap-on magnetic alignment, you need a specific case.

That decision already raised eyebrows when the phone launched. Now there is another wrinkle: the phone actively warns you about certain magnetic cases.

The discovery comes from known tipster Max Jambor. After attaching a third-party Qi2 magnetic case to the Galaxy S26 Ultra, the device threw up a system notification linked to the S Pen.

The message reads: β€œMagnets in accessories can interfere with your S Pen’s signal.” The phone then suggests removing the accessory if you experience connection or writing issues.

Samsung chose not to integrate Qi2 magnets directly into the Galaxy S26 hardware. If you want Qi2 wireless charging, you need to separately purchase a specific case from Samsung.

The Galaxy maker sells both magnetic and non-magnetic first-party options. Yet the warning appears when certain third-party Qi2 cases are attached.
