According to the Athletic’s David Ornstein, talks are advanced on new deals for the Man Utd pair, who have re-established themselves as key players for the club under interim manager Michael Carrick.

See below for details as Ornstein says Mainoo’s new contract would run until 2031 and see him earn a pay rise, while veteran defender Maguire would just be offered one more year, with the option of another on top of that…

Maguire and Mainoo deals are good news for Manchester United

This has not been the easiest season at Old Trafford, with the club once again changing manager after Ruben Amorim’s sacking at the start of 2026, but things are ending on more of a high note.

United could only manage a draw away to Bournemouth last night, but they’ve been one of the most in-form teams in the Premier League since Carrick replaced Amorim.

A big part of that has been Mainoo’s increased involvement, with the talented young England international bizarrely frozen out when Amorim was in charge.

Maguire’s improvement has also been a big boost for MUFC, with the 33-year-old showing how important he can still be to the team.

Our information was that Maguire had been eyed by Chelsea as a surprise option to give them some much-needed experience at the back, so it’s perhaps not surprising that the Red Devils have moved fast to ensure they can keep hold of him.
