Notre Dame 2028 Recruiting: Where things stand with key Indiana playmaker Maddox Weil

Fort Wayne (Ind.) Northrop Rivals300 2028 receiver Maddox Weil visited Notre Dame on Friday.

The explosive in-state playmaker left South Bend with a scholarship in tow. He could see himself playing for the Irish down the road.

β€œWhat stands out to me is the culture there,” Weil said. β€œEveryone is very close together and you hear everyone talk about how it is just being at Notre Dame and all the opportunities you will have not just for football, but for life.Β

β€œWhat could make them a good fit is they are close to home and it’s a place where guys from Fort Wayne have gone there and have succeeded before.

β€œI would say it is higher up on my list.”

Other early offers for Weil include Michigan, Miami, Indiana and Purdue. Notre Dame checks a lot of boxes.

β€œReally just that they are just a historically good winning program that knows how to send guys to the league,” Weil said.

As a sophomore Weil turned 58 receptions into 968 yards and eight touchdowns. Earlier this year he had a strong showing at the Rivals camp in Miami.

β€œMaddox Weil came all the way from Fort Wayne, Indiana and showed he belonged with the top group of wide receivers at Rivals Camp Miami,” Director of Scouting Charles Power said. β€œHe showed impressive movement skills within his routes, quickly exploding out of his breaks to create separation. Weil was strong during drills and showed steady, clean ball skills. The rising junior carried that momentum over to 1-on-1’s where he notched several wins.”

Notre Dame will be in position to win this recruitment all the way to the end.
