Samsung to give Apple and Google its best M16 OLED for iPhone 18, Pixel 11 – Will Galaxy S27 catch up?

Samsung will reportedly supply its best M16 OLED display to Apple and Google for iPhone 18 Pro and Pixel 11 smartphones. The industry report has no mention of the Galaxy S27 series, sparking uncertainty about key hardware.

Apple and Google get first access to M16

According to ETNews, Samsung Display will supply OLED panels using the M16 organic material set for the Google Pixel 11 series, Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, as well as a foldable iPhone set to launch later this year.

Samsung develops its highest-performance OLED panels for flagship phones using its latest material sets, known as the β€œM” series. The M16 set is said to deliver top-level performance in brightness, color, lifespan, and power efficiency.

Samsung’s own flagship lineup?

Samsung Display is standardizing its second-half flagship OLED shipments around M16. This is the successor to M14, the same material set that powered the iPhone 16 Pro and later expanded into the iPhone 17 lineup.

Google is also stepping up. The Pixel 11 series joins the list, meaning two of Samsung’s biggest external customers are getting its best display tech at the same time.

Meanwhile, there is no clear confirmation that the Galaxy S27 series will launch with M16. If history is any guide, Samsung tends to lag one generation behind in adopting the newest material set.

Samsung Display is moving fast, and its external clients are benefiting first. As a result, you could soon have an iPhone 18 Pro or Pixel 11 with a more advanced OLED stack than the Galaxy S27.
