Angel Reese is ready for a new start with the Atlanta Dream. During a press conference, the former Chicago Sky player became emotional while discussing the new “sisterhood” she has with her teammates.

Angel Reese has been the talk of the town lately, as the 23-year-old’s surprising trade to the Peach State could be the very thing that helps the Georgia-based WNBA team get its first title win.

Reese, alongside her new teammates, Allisha Gray, Brionna Jones, Jordin Canada, Naz Hillmon, and Rhyne Howard, said being traded to Atlanta feels “like a breath of fresh air.”

The WNBA superstar spent her first two seasons in Chicago, where she single-handedly broke league records and became one of the most talked-about players the organization had ever seen.

However, she was traded to the Dream in April 2026 after clashing with Sky ownership and the team’s general manager, Jeff Pagliocca.

Reese is looking forward, though, according to USA Today. As she opened up about the upcoming season, the LSU alum got emotional speaking about the “sisterhood” in Atlanta.

Reese explained that she’s already felt a difference since joining the Atlanta Dream. “Being able to come to an organization that really cared about their players, just being able to see a GM that really wanted me and knew what my talents are,” she said.

“Being able to talk to players that genuinely know what I am and who I am as a person, but also as a player, is like a breath of fresh air,” she added.

The realization that she’d be playing for a new team in just a few weeks was almost too much for Reese to handle. “It lowkey makes me emotional because I haven’t had this and I’m really grateful and I’m really looking forward to the start,” she said.

Reese ended her sophomore season averaging 14.7 points and 12.6 rebounds per game. She also tied Phoenix Mercury star Alyssa Thomas for most double-doubles (23).

While stellar accomplishments, Reese said she wasn’t “satisfied” with that. “I love to win. I love to compete,” she stated.

As part of the Dream, Reese is joining an already stacked roster that finished third in the league in 2025, going 30-14.

“Being around these kinds of players would help me be better and I can help them in different ways to help them win. And that’s all I ever wanted. I don’t care about anything else,” Reese said.

Reese isn’t the only one looking forward to becoming an honorary Georgia peach. All-Star Allisha Gray is also looking at the season with a positive mindset, saying Reese’s roster spot is “the piece that we needed to get us over the hump.”

Gray went on to say that in Atlanta, Reese will be able to learn and showcase her range of talents on the hardwood.

“I mean, we all know she’s one of the best rebounders in the league, but I feel here in Atlanta we are able to show that she’s more than a rebound, because Angel’s a bucket,” Gray said.

Atlanta’s head coach, Karl Smesko, is also over the moon about his team’s latest acquisition. During the press conference, the 55-year-old lauded Reese’s impressive rebounding ability and praised her off-ball movement.

“We create a lot of space and a lot of movement so there’s going to be a lot of opportunities to either score off cuts or invert some pick and roll,” he said.

The most important thing for Smesko, however, is to help develop Reese into the player she wants to be.

“I want to hear what she thinks her strengths are and what she really wants to get better at and I want to be a coach that helps players achieve to their highest level and what they wanted to become,” he said, adding that he’ll collaborate with Reese to help sharpen her skills.

The Dream’s first game is against the Chicago Sky on April 29.
