Arguably the most viral moment from Caitlin Clark's NBA broadcasting debut on Sunday night emerged from a comment Clark didn't even make.

NBA legend Reggie Miller compared Clark to Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard -- a comparison meant to flatter the Indiana Fever star, but one that many on social media quickly called out as inappropriate.

The furor over Miller's comments continued into Monday, when Danny Green and Celtics icon Paul Pierce engaged in a back-and-forth about Clark's ability.

While Pierce called out Miller for his remarks and favorably compared Clark to Stephen Curry, Green said he didn't think it was a bad thing for Clark to be compared with Pritchard, last year's Sixth Man of the Year.

"They have similar skillsets, like Reggie said," Green said on No Fouls Given. "I don't think it's a bad comparison."

Paul Pierce says it’s a embarrassment that Reggie Miller compared Caitlin Clark to Payton Pritchard

Green explained that while Clark has had a "Steph Curry impact" on the WNBA, he defended Miller by saying that Clark and Pritchard are both crafty, hard-nosed guards who can shoot the ball really well.

But Clark's impact on basketball in general is much greater than Pritchard's. And while Green tried to point to their similar point-per-game totals to bolster his case, Pierce quickly shut him down.

" Her gravitational pull is on the same level as Steph’s in the WNBA," he said.

Green might want to record and play back a few more Fever games in 2026; maybe he'll feel differently about Clark's multifaceted impact.

NBA legend catches death stare from Caitlin Clark during NBC broadcast

Caitlin Clark has many talents even when she’s not on the WNBA court, and Sunday night she dove into a new realm during NBC’s NBA coverage.

The Indiana Fever superstar made her NBC debut as part of the network’s coverage before the New York Knicks beat the Los Angeles Lakers.

While Clark appeared to be a hit with fans, she wasn’t the biggest fan of NBA legend Reggie Miller on the night. Miller made a comparison between Caitlin Clark and Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard, however, she didn’t seem to like it.

Social media went crazy when Clark appeared to shoot a death stare in the direction of Miller. However, the two

‘Basketball Night in America’ host Maria Taylor asked Miller which NBA player he thinks Clark’s game resembles. That was when the dynamic of the pregame program changed.

“I like Payton Pritchard from Boston,” Miller said. “The way he’s able to handle the basketball. He makes big shots when the shot clock’s running down … a lot like this young lady right here.”

Caitlin Clark weighs in on WNBA's ongoing talks to secure new CBA

WNBA All-Star Caitlin Clark made her debut as a basketball analyst on "Basketball Night in America" on Sunday, Feb. 1.

Clark, who served as a special contributor for the Los Angeles Lakers vs. New York Knicks game at Madison Square Garden, weighed in on the continuing WNBA labor strife. The next meeting between the WNBA and players' union to reach a new collective bargaining agreement will be Monday. It has been more than a month since the WNBA received the union's latest proposal.

“Honestly, I don’t think it’s just a big moment for the WNBA. I think all of women’s sports," Clark said. "I think this is one of the biggest moments we’ve ever had.“I feel very confident that we’re going to get something done … We’re in this moment because of the product we put on the floor.”

The meeting Monday will take place in New York City with members of the WNBPA leadership committee and labor relations committee, led by WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert, which also includes a handful of WNBA owners.

The 2026 WNBA season is scheduled to begin May 8. It will be the league's 30th season, provided the WNBA and the players' union come to an agreement.

Beyond WNBA talk, Clark appeared on the pregame show alongside Reggie Miller, Carmelo Anthony and Maria Taylor. The 6-footer joked later that the trio made her feel short.
