Samsung Galaxy S27 lineup kicks off launch preparations
Samsung has started certifying the Galaxy S27 series through different regulators around the globe, confirming that the lineup has entered the launch lane.
Here are the model numbers for the Galaxy S27 series surfaced through the GSMA records: Standard S27 (SM-S952U), S27 Plus (SM-S956U), S27 Pro (SM-S957B), S27 Ultra (SM-S958U).
The certifications are part of the pre-launch process, which starts way ahead of the release date. However, it has a surprising model, which is the Galaxy S27 Pro, a new entrant in the lineup.
Yes, we’ve heard the rumors before during the Galaxy S26 series, but the Pro model couldn’t make it to the launch stage due to some unknown reasons.
One other device that was rumored to make a place in the lineup was the Galaxy S26 Edge, due to the low sales of the first-generation model. As a result, Samsung reportedly cancelled the S26 Edge at the last-minute call.
With this inclusion, we now have four models in the Galaxy S27 series: a standard, plus, and two with high-end specs. It reminds me of Apple’s iPhone launch plan, offering two Pro versions with identical specs, while the difference lies only in the sizes.
It’s expected that the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra will follow the same strategy, offering privacy display in both models. However, the larger variant is likely to keep special perks like the S-Pen and additional telephoto camera, and a few more specs.
These phones will come with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series chipset. This year, Qualcomm has distributed the chip into two tiers: a standard and a Pro. So, there’s a chance that we might see the S27 and S27 Plus featuring the standard Pro and Ultra models opting for Pro variants.
As usual, Samsung releases the Galaxy S-series flagship in the first quarter of the year. So, we can expect the Galaxy S27 series to be unveiled around February or March.
