Asus exited the smartphone market a couple of months ago and has also remained largely inactive in the tablet segment in recent years. However, it appears that the Taiwanese tech giant may not be ready to give up on tablets just yet. A new report from Android Headlines claims that the company is working on a new tablet called the Asus Pad, while also revealing leaked renders and early hardware details of the device.

Asus Pad’s first details leaked

According to the leak, the Asus Pad could feature a 12.2-inch dual-layer OLED display with support for a 144Hz refresh rate. The screen is also expected to include Dolby-related enhancements for media playback.

The tablet reportedly has slim and symmetrical bezels around the display, while the chassis appears to feature a metal frame with slightly curved edges for a more comfortable grip. The rear panel is said to remain flat and includes a small camera module housing a single rear camera along with an LED flash.

The leaked information also points to a thin and lightweight construction. The tablet is said to measure just 6.5mm in thickness and weigh around 523 grams. Despite the slim profile, the device is tipped to include stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, suggesting that Asus may position it as a strong entertainment-focused tablet.

The Asus Pad is also expected to pack a 9,000mAh battery with support for fast charging, although the exact charging speed has not yet been revealed. Details regarding the chipset, RAM, storage variants, pricing, and launch timeline are still under wraps.

Alongside the tablet, leaked images also show what appears to be an official transparent case accessory. The case reportedly includes a foldable origami-style stand that can support the tablet in multiple viewing angles for media streaming or desk use.
