Tiger Woods, who was arrested last week after a rollover car crash near his home in Florida, is reportedly seeking treatment outside of the United States.

The 50-year-old pro golfer — who pleaded not guilty to charges of driving under the influence with property damage and after refusing to submit to a urine test — was granted approval to travel outside the country, TMZ reported on Wednesday, April 1.

A filing made by attorney Douglas Duncan stated, per the outlet, that Woods wanted to leave America to “begin comprehensive inpatient treatment.”

“Based upon the Defendant’s treating physician, the out of country treatment facility recommendation is based upon the Defendant’s complex clinical presentation and the urgent need for a level of care that cannot safely or effectively be done within the United States, as his privacy has been repeatedly compromised,” the legal docs reportedly said.

Citing privacy concerns, Duncan claimed that if Woods were under pressure in the States, it could “result in setbacks and an inability to fully engage in treatment.”

The award-winning golfer, who was previously arrested in 2017 for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, was also involved in a car crash in 2021 (though no charges were filed that year).

His most recent accident on March 27 came after the 15-time major champion allegedly clipped a truck and was reportedly found with opioids on him.

While the athlete claimed he had not consumed any alcohol — he blew a 0.0 on the breathalyzer — or illegal substances when police asked, he did tell them he took “a few” when questioned about prescription medications, per an arrest affidavit obtained by Page Six.

Though Woods is expected to leave the U.S., his team assured he will be present for any future court dates, according to TMZ.

Following the ordeal, Woods released a statement on March 31 via X, writing, “I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today. I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health.”

“This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery,” the statement continued.

“I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally. I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time,” he concluded.
