Mavericks wing Cooper Flagg took one look at 32-year-old Kyle Anderson and knew he could blow by him.

So he did.

Flagg drove left, floated the ball in and absorbed contact for an and-one. He stared at his left hand as he walked to the free-throw line.

Flagg made so many left-handed finishes that Utah Jazz coach Will Hardy may have wondered if the scouting report was wrong.

Later, with a chance to bring Dallas within one, Flagg attacked the rim again and drew a foul. He missed the shot, but Max Christie made two free throws to tie the game.

Flagg had a career-high 42 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Jazz beat the Mavericks 140-133 in overtime on Monday.

He had 24 points, four rebounds and four assists before halftime, becoming the fifth Mavericks player to achieve that feat in a single half. Also, he became the first 18-year-old in NBA history to score over 40 points.

Oklahoma State quarterback Zane Flores plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, per On3’s Pete Nakos. Flores just wrapped up his third season in Stillwater, getting playing time in 2025. However, a new regime coming to town means Flores will also look for a new opportunity.

Flores played high school football at Gretna (NE), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 467 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Nine games played resulted in 1,490 yards, three touchdowns, and seven interceptions for Flores. He completed just under 60% of his throws, coming in at 59.8%. In a season where quarterback was a roller coaster for Oklahoma State, Flores emerged as the team’s leading passer.

Plenty of eligibility remains for Flores wherever he lands. A medical hardship waiver was secured for the 2024 season after not seeing any action. Add in a redshirt the previous year and Flores just wrapped up his redshirt freshman campaign. Three years of eligibility are expected for him.

“That’s one thing about Zane, he’s so level-headed,” Oklahoma State wide receiver Terrill Davis said of Flores leading into the Oregon game. “He’s a great leader and you can just tell in practice. Like, he goes out there and does the job. He leads the team well. So, we’re excited to have Zane.”

Flores committed to Oklahoma State over other notable power conference programs, including Kansas, Kansas State, and Missouri. Mike Gundy was the head coach at the time, helping develop Flores all the way until his firing in late September. Eric Morris is now in charge at Oklahoma State, getting hired via North Texas.

Five different quarterbacks threw a pass for Oklahoma State during the 2025 season. One of those was Sam Jackson, who was not originally on the team to play the position. Different injuries and coaching decisions played a big role.

Hauss Hejny was announced as the starter for the opener vs. UT Martin but wound up only throwing 10 passes on the year. Five of those were completed for 96 yards and a touchdown. Noah Walters attempted 14 throws, followed by Banks Bowen‘s five.

Morris will be hoping for a little more stability at quarterback heading into 2026. Unfortunately, it does not appear as if Flores is part of those plans.
