Update: Galaxy A25 testing One UI 8.5

Internal One UI 8.5 EYL2 development has begun for the Galaxy A25 smartphone. Over the past few days, Samsung has been testing several Galaxy phones and tablets in the internal testing of the upcoming software update.

Original story as follows…

Dec 24: Galaxy A26 has now joined the growing list of One UI 8.5 devices. Samsung has begun internal testing of the software for the mid-range phone. Users will receive UI changes, smoother animations, and new features.

As spotted by tipsterΒ AkhileshKumar, Samsung is now testing One UI 8.5 on the Galaxy A26. The device received its Android 16-based One UI 8.0 update nearly three months ago, and preps for the next transition have begun.

The mid-range smartphone is eligible for six years of OS and security updates. One UI 8 was its first OS upgrade, which brought Android 16. However, the One UI 8.5 is still based on the same operating system as One UI 8.

Samsung’s server now hasΒ A266BXXU6CYL2 firmware for the Galaxy A26 5G European version. With One UI 8, the major One UI alphabet bumped to β€œB,” and One UI 8.5 makes it β€œC,” indicating the second big UI upgrade.

One UI 8.5 brings noticeable user interface changes. The new software improves complete aesthetics by adding dynamic blur and a floating menu to apps. Pop-up cards have also become beautiful with vibrant hues.

Samsung’s premium phones will benefit the most from this upgrade. You can look forward to a better user interface with tweaks. AI features will stay limited to S/Z devices, but the supported ones will be enhanced.

Galaxy S25 users are testing the new software in six countries. Samsung also outlined its plans to launch the official version early next year. The update will also be provided to older models in the second quarter of 2026.
