Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold’s fingerprint is an innovation marvel
Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold is equipped with advanced touch technology and an ultra-narrow fingerprint solution. Samsung-partner Goodix has now revealed the technological breakthrough behind the tri-fold device.
Goodix announced Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold phone uses its touch screen technology and ultra‑narrow fingerprint solution. The two hardware components are tailor-made for Samsung’s first multi-fold device.
As mentioned in the press release, Goodix supplies industry‑leading main & sub touchscreen controller and ultra‑narrow side‑key capacitive fingerprint solution to Samsung for its Galaxy Z TriFold multi-fold phone.
Touch solution tailor-made for Z TriFold
Goodix says its customized touch solution delivers high driving capability and exceptional resistance to display noise. It’s backed by Goodix’s proprietary hardware sampling architecture and noise‑suppression algorithms.
As a result, the phone’s panel scores a high signal‑to‑noise ratio (SNR) to ensure reliable touch response. A customized algorithm supports different fold states to deliver accurate touch rejection, folded or unfolded.
Ultra-narrow side-key fingerprint sensor
Galaxy Z TriFold is strikingly thin at 3.9mm at its thinnest point. Despite this sleek profile, the device retains a fingerprint sensor on its side key.
To meet the thin body, Goodix developed an ultra‑narrow (1.65mm) side‑key capacitive fingerprint sensor. The solution incorporates ergonomic design with enhanced security to provide fast, reliable authentication.
Samsung’s first TriFold phone is set to release on December 12. The first sale is about to start in South Korea, while the US release is likely in 2026. The device will sequentially expand to markets as Samsung assesses durability.
