Philadelphia Eagles sign explosive WR in high-upside move
The Philadelphia Eagles entered the 2025β26 season with high hopes but fell short in the postseason. They finished with strong starters but needed depth at receiver. Missing a reliable third option hurt them in the wild-card loss. Management moved quickly this offseason.
NFL free agency and trade talks heated up around the league. Teams are chasing for playmakers and short-term upside. Philly watched the market and targeted a veteran who could help now. Rumors about bigger names also swirled, which kept the discussion around A.J. Brown alive.

The club signed Brown to a one-year deal worth up to $6.5 million.
Brown brings deep speed and suddenness after the catch. He can win vertically and stretch zones. He also creates space for the top two receivers. On one-year terms the financial risk for Philly stays low. The contract lets the team evaluate fit without a long commitment.
Coaches can use him in single-receiver sets and in space. If he stays healthy, he gives the offense more explosive play options.
The signing aims to fix a clear roster need with measured risk and strong upside. Injuries hampered him between 2022 and 2024, but his playmaking remains. This is a low-cost, high-reward addition for the teamβs offense and depth. Expect him to compete immediately.
