Many Samsung phones missing from Googleβs AirDrop compatibility list
Quick Share to AirDrop sharing, and vice versa, is one of the biggest upgrades Samsung provided through One UI 8.5 update. Google has now released a list, and many Samsung phones are missing on the AirDrop compatibility front.
As part of its βThe Android Show 2026,β Google talked about Android 17 and software advancements. Google also revealed a list of phones, including Samsung and other Android OEMs, that support AirDrop sharing.
Google says (via Cartidise) AirDrop support is coming soon to these Samsung devices:
- Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra
- Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra
- Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6
- Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7
- Galaxy Z TriFold
While Google says AirDrop support is βcoming soon,β the reality is entirely different. Samsung has already provided AirDrop connection to its recent premium Galaxy devices, with Stable One UI 8.5 expanding the availability.
File sharing had always been a frustrating experience when you have Android and your friend has an Apple device. Google cracked Appleβs wall, making Quick Share capable enough to transfer files via Appleβs AirDrop platform.

Many Samsung devices are not listed
While Samsung dominates the chart, many important devices are entirely missing from the list. It includes the Galaxy S23 series, Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5, the Galaxy A/M/F series phones, as well as the Galaxy Tab S tablet portfolio.
A wider expansion may have been planned for a future date. For now, the focus is entirely on the latest models and recent releases. If Google decides to widen the coverage, Samsung would make it happen through incremental updates.
