Samsung Music brings small widget and playback improvement

15 April 2026 at 18:48

Samsung has released a new update for its Music app, adding a small home screen widget that’s compact and easy to arrange.

Before this update, Samsung Music only had a 4Γ—1 size widget. It includes playback buttons for shuffle, previous, play/pause, next, and repeat. It covers the entire width of the display.

The new version has a 2 x 2 square shape, including prev, play/pause, and next options, and album art in the background. Similar to the wide widget, you can tap on the album art to open the Music app.

Besides, Samsung will let you change the shape of this widget. You can make its corner round in four different variations and preview the change on the same screen.

Random Playback Order

Song playback is getting an addition with this update. If you like to play the song in random spin, this feature is for you. Samsung Music now lets you see the song order in the current playlist when playing randomly.

First, open the Samsung Music app and tap on the Queue button on the left side of the music timeline. However, there’s more to it.

You can sort the view by date, name, and artist. See the current tracks in the playlist on the right side and their order. Add a new track to the playlist with the add button on the top right, or select one or multiple songs from the playlist to delete them.

This new Samsung Music update, with a small widget and a random song playback queue feature, is now available for Galaxy devices. Get it from the Galaxy Store or the Play Store.
