Van de Ven Shines as Spurs Crush Everton 3-0 to Break Hill Dickinson Hoodoo
Tottenham Hotspur finally looked like a team rediscovering their rhythm as they became the first away side to ever win at Hill Dickinson Stadium, ending a six-match winless run against Everton with a convincing 3-0 victory, Softfootball reports.
Everton under David Moyes, came into the game looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Manchester City last weekend. Their new home ground had been a fortress so far this season, but Spurs wasted no time in testing that reputation.
The Toffees had prided themselves on not conceding from a set-piece all season, but that record didn’t last long. Rodrigo Bentancur kept Mohammed Kudus’ corner alive at the far post, and Micky van de Ven was on hand to head home from six yards out ,a simple goal, but a huge blow for the hosts.
Everton thought they had found an instant reply when Jake O’Brien rose highest to head in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s corner just minutes later, sparking wild celebrations. But those cheers quickly died down after VAR ruled that Iliman Ndiaye, standing in an offside position, had obstructed Guglielmo Vicario’s view. The goal was chalked off, and the atmosphere inside the stadium turned tense.
To their credit, Spurs handled the hostility brilliantly. Bentancur almost doubled their lead with a brilliant volley that curled agonizingly wide, and moments later, they got their second — again from a set-piece. This time it was Pedro Porro’s wicked corner delivery that caused the damage, and Van de Ven, full of confidence, nipped in front of Jordan Pickford to flick home his second of the night and fifth of the season.
Tottenham came into this game desperate to find some consistency after a patchy run of results in both the Premier League and Europe. Their most recent outing a frustrating goalless draw against Monaco in the UEFA Champions League summed up their struggles to turn dominance into goals. But here, everything seemed to click.
Everton started the second half with more intent. Ndiaye came close with a clever backheel flick that drifted just wide, and there were flashes of life from the Toffees’ attack. But for all their effort, they couldn’t find a way past a disciplined Spurs defence.
Their best chance to get back into the game fell to Richarlison against his former club. A loose header from James Tarkowski gifted the Brazilian a golden opportunity, but his shot was straight at Pickford. It felt like the moment Everton’s fight fizzled out.
The hosts continued to push late on, but the result was sealed when Pape Matar Sarr raced through in the final minutes to slot home a composed third goal for Spurs, putting the game well and truly beyond doubt.

For Tottenham, it was a statement win their most complete performance in weeks and one that moves them up to third in the Premier League table ahead of a massive London derby against Chelsea next weekend.
For Everton, however, the reality bites: their new home fortress has been breached, and Moyes will know he has plenty of work to do to steady the ship.
