Samsung reportedly not planning Galaxy S26 Edge and second TriFold

28 February 2026 at 15:39

Some Samsung fans may be disappointed as the company reportedly won’t be releasing the Galaxy S26 Edge or the Galaxy Z TriFold 2. According to Samsung’s Chief Operating Officer, Won‑Joon Choi, the company isn’t planning another iPhone Air rival or a second tri‑fold.

Back in 2025, Samsung launched the Galaxy S25 Edge, but it didn’t sell well. This phone was a very slim version of the Galaxy S25, but it wasn’t very different from other models. Because of this, not many people bought it. Samsung may have decided that making another Edge phone isn’t worth the effort.

The Galaxy Z TriFold 2 is also unlikely. While Samsung’s first tri-fold sold out when restocked, it is very expensive and hard to make. Most people are not ready to pay such a high price for a tri-fold phone. Production costs and limited demand make a follow-up unlikely.

Choi mentioned that Samsung is still interested in foldable phones but wants to offer “different experiences.” This could mean new foldable designs, such as the rumored Galaxy Wide Fold, or other unique models. Samsung seems focused on making phones that more people want, instead of repeating designs that didn’t sell well.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy S26 itself is moving forward. Pre-orders are already open, and Samsung is promoting the Galaxy S26 models rather than the Edge version. Fans can expect upgrades like a better S Pen and improved features across the lineup. While the Edge and tri-fold are likely canceled, the Galaxy S26 remains the main focus for Samsung buyers.
