Google refreshes Android Voice Search with a clean, modern look

8 November 2025 at 19:17

Google is rolling out a fresh new design for its voice search feature on Android. The old version, which showed four colorful dots that moved when you spoke, has looked the same for years. Now, Google is updating it to match the modern style seen in its newer features like Search Live.

When you tap the microphone icon in the Google app, on the Search results page, or in the Pixel Launcher bar, you’ll see a redesigned screen. At the center, the colorful Google “G” logo appears with a friendly message saying, “What’s on your mind?” As you start speaking, the message disappears, and your spoken words appear as text.

The old dot animation is replaced by a curved arc that moves in time with your voice. It gives it a fresh and dynamic look.

Google has also made changes to the “Search a song” feature. You’ll now see a clear “Play Sing Hum” button at the bottom of the screen. This makes it easier to find a song by singing, humming, or playing part of it. The old globe animation is gone, making the layout simpler and easier to understand.

There’s also a new sound when the microphone turns on or off. This updated “ping” matches the tone used in Google’s AI Mode, making the whole experience feel more consistent and polished.

The redesign is not yet available to everyone, but it’s expected to roll out more widely soon. With this update, Google is keeping voice search simple, fast, and pleasant to use, and giving it a fresh look that fits perfectly with its new AI-powered design style.
