The 2026 World Baseball Classic has delivered on its hype. After weeks of intense international competition, the championship game is set. The tournament will come down to two teams in a single-elimination battle for baseball’s global crown.

The 2026 World Baseball Classic featured 20 national teams from around the world. Each competed for the title in one of the sport’s premier international events.

Team USA

Team USA opened its tournament on March 6 in pool play with a dominant 15–5 victory over Brazil. The Americans kept their momentum rolling with a convincing 9–1 win against Great Britain.

Team USA suffered its only loss of the tournament to Italy. The Americans quickly regrouped, beating Canada in the quarterfinals and the Dominican Republic in Sunday night’s semifinal to reach the championship game.

Team Venezuela

After dropping two games in Classic pool play, Venezuela responded by knocking off the defending WBC champions. The stunning back-to-back victories punched Venezuela’s ticket to the WBC Championship game.

Venezuela now looks to pull off another major upset against Team USA. Venezuela will also try to avenge its 2023 loss to Team USA and capture the championship.
