Sven Mislintat has replaced Klaus Allofs as board member for sport at Fortuna Dusseldorf, the ailing second division club said on Sunday.

Mislintat has made a name for himself for finding talented players and was squad planner at Borussia Dortmund for three years. He also previously worked as a freelance scout for Dusseldorf.

"Fortuna are a special club with real passion and tradition," Mislintat said in a club statement.

Dusseldorf-born former West Germany forward Allofs said last week he would not renew his contract beyond the season but the exit has now come earlier.

The team started the season aiming for Bundesliga promotion but are second last after losing 1-0 against Elversberg on Sunday.

Markus Anfang replaced Daniel Thioune as coach several weeks ago. His future is uncertain after managing only one victory from nine matches of which seven ended in defeat.
