Tyler Reddick wins at Darlington in 4th NASCAR win this season for Michael Jordan’s team

DARLINGTON, S.C. β€” Tyler Reddick chased down Brad Keselowski and led the final 28 laps Sunday at Darlington Raceway for his fourth NASCAR Cup Series victory this season.

Reddick, who drives for the 23XI Racing team co-owned by Denny Hamlin and NBA legend Michael Jordan, started from the pole position and led 77 laps in his No. 45 Toyota to win by 5.847 seconds over Keselowski.

Ryan Blaney finished third, followed by Carson Hocevar and Austin Cindric.

Keselowski led six times for a race-high 142 laps, but made his final pit stops four laps earlier than Reddick, who made the most of the fresher rubber to make up a seven-second gap on the final run. The NASCAR points leader completed the winning pass on the 266th of 293 laps.

It’s the 12th career victory and first at Darlington for Reddick, who began the year with a Daytona 500 win on the way to becoming the first driver in NASCAR history to win the first three races of a season.

Tire management always matters on Darlington’s abrasive surface, and drivers wrestled Sunday with increased wear because of new car regulations.

But despite predictions of chaos from a 12% increase of horsepower and a 25% reduction in downforce (which helps maintain traction through the turns at high speed), drivers mostly kept their cars from careening out of control.

The race featured four yellow flags β€” including only one for a multicar incident β€” the fewest caution periods at Darlington since there were three in the March 21, 1999, race that was shortened by rain. The last full-length race at Darlington with fewer than four cautions was the 1998 Southern 500, which had two yellows on Sept. 6, 1998.

Tame start

Despite predictions of nonstop chaos because of the new car regulations, the first 91 laps unfolded under the green flag without interruption. It marked the fifth consecutive race in which the first stage was completed with the caution flag staying holstered.

Up next

The NASCAR Cup Series will race at Martinsville Speedway, the first short track of the 2026 season, on Sunday, March 29. A year ago, Denny Hamlin snapped a 31-race winless streak with his first victory in 10 years at Martinsville, where he has a series-leading six wins.

Porsche Penske Motorsport wins back to back at Twelve Hours of Sebring as Felipe Nasr makes history

Felipe Nasr made history for Porsche Penske Motorsport with the team's second consecutive victory in the Twelve Hours of Sebring β€” which also marked a win in the 36 Hours of Florida.

The Brazilian, who closed out Saturday's Grand Touring Prototype win in the No. 7 Porsche 963, became the first IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar driver to win both the Rolex 24 at Daytona and the endurance race in Sebring, Florida, in consecutive years.

"It’s incredible," Nasr told NBC Sports' Marty Snider. "That’s exactly what I signed up for and knew we could build something magical here.. I couldn’t be prouder."

Nasr also took the checkered flag last month in the season opener at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, and in both races last year.

He was teamed with Julien Andlauer and Laurin Heinrich after the same trio also triumphed in the 64th Rolex 24 At Daytona.

"Just incredible to represent Porsche and Penske," Nasr said. "I love winning for them. Took a big team effort, and both cars were strong all day. Just want to say my teammates, those guys are phenomenal. All day long, no mistakes, just a clean race, and here we are. Another dream start to the season."

Porsche Penske Motorsport's No. 6 963 finished second with Kevin Estre, Laurens Vanthoor and Matt Campbell. Nasr took the lead for good with a nifty pass of Estre just over an hour remaining in the race.

The Porsches led 273 of 343 laps at Sebring after combining to lead 521 of 705 laps at Daytona.

The No. 10 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac V-Series.R finished third with Ricky Taylor, Filipe Albuquerque and Will Stevens.

β€”GTD: The No. 21 AF Corse USA Ferrari 296 GT3 EVO overcame three penalties for its third class win at Sebring. Antonio Fuoco charged from seventh to first in the final 15 minutes, making the winning pass on the final lap.

I want to thank all the team for all the work to really push and really believe in this result. On the last lap, I saw the opportunity, and it was a really tough and fun race."

In one of the most bizarre accidents seen in a while, Eli Tomac and Justin Cooper crashed on Lap 4 of the second heat for Round 10 of the SuperMotocross World Championship.

Cooper's leg was trapped by Tomac's rear wheel and he was dragged several yards before Tomac became aware he had an unexpected passenger.

"I just checked out for Ken [Roczen] there and Eli kind of saw the opportunity go under me and kind of hesitated. I already had my weight leaning that way. [My] leg ended up in the back wheel, and it was really scary because he was clutching it and all that.

"First of all, I just wanted to get my leg out from the pipe. My shin was getting burned by the exhaust, so once I was able to rotate my ankle away and someone came over, he knew I was there.

"Once he started clutching it, I freaked out, man. So it's just racing dirt bikes . I just had to get up. We're going to have a bad gate pick for the main, but hopefully we can get a start."

Cooper recovered and finished seventh in the heat race, but with the dust cover ripped off Tomac's bike, he headed to the mechanic's area and finished one lap off the pace.

Tomac headed to the Last Chance Qualifier for the first time in seven years.
