One of the biggest stories in the NFL this offseason has been the drama in the New York Giants’ locker room. An appearance by potential franchise quarterback Jaxson Dart, who introduced President Donald Trump, paved the way for backlash from his teammates.

Abdul Carter was the most outspoken, leading to other reported conversations and dialogue within the team. Unfortunately, just as it looked like the team was moving on from the incident, the 47th President of the country made an interesting revelation about the young QB.

Donald Trump Reveals Conversation With Jaxson Dart

The entire situation came about after Dart was the one tasked with introducing Trump at a rally in New York. Immediately afterward, the former first-round pick drew backlash from the NFL world, and particularly, some members of his own locker room.

As a result, there were genuine doubts about how the season would progress for a young roster with a new head coach. Reports of locker-room meetings and dialogue have been circulating as OTAs have begun.

Dart, too, addressed the entire ordeal to the media, claiming, ”The president position has always been a position that I have a lot of respect for, regardless of political affiliation, regardless of political party. My intentions were just that.”

However, he did admit to some foresight, or lack thereof, for the situation. “I also understand that I am the quarterback of the New York Giants, and that involves a lot of responsibility. It’s under a limelight, under a microscope, and there’s a lot that comes with that. And it’s been something that I’ve embraced.”

With Carter and veteran Jameis Winston also taking on a team-first approach, it looked like the matter was quietening down. But during his latest interview, Trump spoke at length about the 23-year-old.

Giving him some hefty praise, he said, “I wish I looked just like Jaxson. Is he a male model, or what? He’s a handsome guy, a beautiful guy, you know, a conservative guy. He said, ‘I love you, sir.’ So when Jaxson gets harassed a little bit, he also gets loved more because we have a lot more people than they do.”

It remains to be seen whether the President’s latest comments spark further controversy for the youngster. But an already tense offseason for the Giants hasn’t been helped by the entire ordeal.

As he tries to embrace the leadership role on the team while managing his young career, the entire situation with Trump has cast an even larger spotlight on Dart.
