One UI 8.5 update device list

Following a lengthy five months of beta testing, Samsung finally began rolling out the stable One UI 8.5 update in the first week of May. However, as always, the initial rollout was limited to Samsung’s home country, South Korea, but the global rollout kicked off just the next week on May 11.

The Galaxy S25 was the first phone to receive the stable update, and Samsung wasted no time bringing it to foldable phones and older Galaxy S-series phones. In fact, devices like the Galaxy S25 Edge and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, which weren’t part of the beta program, also started receiving the One UI 8.5 beta alongside the beta devices.

Here’s a list of Galaxy devices that are getting the One UI 8.5 update:

  • Galaxy S25
  • Galaxy S25+
  • Galaxy S25 Ultra
  • Galaxy S25 Edge
  • Galaxy S25 FE
  • Galaxy S24
  • Galaxy S24+
  • Galaxy S24 Ultra
  • Galaxy S24 FE
  • Galaxy Z TriFold
  • Galaxy Z Fold 7
  • Galaxy Z Flip 7
  • Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE
  • Galaxy Z Fold 6
  • Galaxy Z Flip 6
  • Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition

The list should grow in the coming days and weeks as the One UI 8.5 update is officially confirmed to reach dozens of devices, including many mid-range and budget phones. We’ll update the list periodically to keep it fresh.

If your Galaxy device is on the list, the update may be ready for download. Head to Settings > Software updates and tap Download and install. If the update doesn’t show up, try again in a few days, as it rolls out in phases and may take some time to reach all users.

This Motorola flagship from 2023 just got Android 16 update

Motorola is steadily progressing towards wrapping up its Android 16 rollout, as the update is now starting to roll out to budget phones and older high-end devices. The update recently hit budget phones like the Moto G35 and Moto G85, and is now expanding to the Motorola Edge+ (2023).

Android 16 update arrives for the Motorola Edge+ (2023)

This Motorola flagship from 2023 has begun receiving the Android 16 update on the Telus Mobility network in Canada with the firmware version W1TR36H.56-13, as reported by a Reddit user (via Ytechb). The download size of this update package is just over 2.3GB.

Motorola Edge Plus 2023 Android 16 update

While the Android 16 update for the Edge+ 2023 has been spotted in Canada, it could also be rolling out to other regions. It’s better to manually check for updates by navigating to Settings > System > Advanced > System updates and tapping Check for updates. If the update isn’t available, give it another try in a few days, as the expansion can take a few days to weeks.

After upgrading to Android 16, you’ll see many new features, including Live updates, Desktop Window, group notifications, APV codec support, HDR screenshots, and Advanced Protection Mode. The update also adds new emojis, improves hearing aid support, and lets you create custom modes in the Settings app.

Unfortunately, this is the last major OS upgrade for the Motorola Edge+ 2023, as it was released with Android 13 with a promise of just three major upgrades. However, the device should continue to receive security updates for a while. If you’re looking for an upgrade, check this list of Motorola phones that promise longer software support.

Motorola’s Android 17 beta is off to a good start

Motorola’s unfinished Android 16 rollout isn’t stopping the company from working on the next major upgrade. In fact, it launched the Android 17 beta program just days after Google released Android 17 Beta 1, and well ahead of its peers. Motorola’s Android 17 beta program has also seen rapid expansion, now covering over a dozen devices across various segments (check the complete list here).

For now, the company appears confident in its Android 17 development, and the beta expansion has also been promising, but only time will tell whether it has really improved its rollout pace when the stable update lands sometime in the second half of 2026.

HyperOS 3.1 update is yet to reach these Xiaomi devices

HyperOS 3.1 rollout progress

While Xiaomi has already begun its Android 17 Developer Preview program for a few devices, over a dozen devices are still waiting for the HyperOS 3.1 upgrade. This mainly includes budget and some mid-range phones, while high-end eligible devices have already received the update.

According to XimiTime, these devices have not received the HyperOS 3.1 update:

  • Redmi Note 15 Pro 4G
  • Redmi Note 14 4G
  • Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G
  • Redmi 14C
  • Redmi 13
  • Redmi 13X
  • Redmi A4
  • Redmi A3 Pro
  • Redmi Pad 2
  • Redmi Pad 2 Pro 5G
  • Redmi Pad SE 4G
  • Poco M7 4G
  • Poco M6
  • Poco C85 4G
  • Poco C75
  • Poco C75 5G
  • Poco Pad M1

The delay in software rollouts can be due to multiple reasons, including but not limited to critical bugs in the internal testing, hardware optimization requirements, delay in regional firmware certifications, and chipset limitations.

Even though many Xiaomi devices have yet to receive the HyperOS 3.1 update, the rollout hasn’t been slow, to say the least, given that it only began in April. According to XimiTime, Xiaomi has already pushed the update to 85% of eligible devices.

HyperOS 3.1 is more than just an incremental upgrade as it bundles many new features, visual upgrades, better connectivity with Apple devices, and plenty of enhancements. The update introduces Hyper Island to Xiaomi tablets for the first time, while smartphones receive a few upgrades to this feature, bringing in richer animations, deeper third-party integration, and a more intuitive real-time activity tracking.

The latest software features an iOS-inspired recent apps page with vertical scrolling and modern card swiping gestures. It also adds native AirPods integration, enabling features like quick pop-up pairing, ANC toggle controls, and access to spatial audio. The lock screen is now more customizable with advanced depth effects and more widget configurations. There’s also a new Super OTA feature for faster update installation with minimal reboot time and fewer errors.

HyperOS 3.1 itself feels like a big upgrade, but we’ll soon have an even bigger release with HyperOS 4, which will be based on Android 17. The Android 17 beta is already available for Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Ultra, and Xiaomi 15T Pro, with more devices likely to follow soon. HyperOS 4 is expected to be a pretty solid upgrade, offering many new features, major improvements, and AI goodies.

We’ll keep you updated with the latest HyperOS details in our Xiaomi section. Be sure to visit the page every few days to stay updated. Or, you can join our Telegram channel to receive instant alerts.

Oppo begins ColorOS 16.1 rollout with major visual changes and AI upgrades

ColorOS 16.1 rollout
ColorOS 16.1 rollout

Alongside Android 17, Oppo has been working on a mid-cycle upgrade, ColorOS 16.1, which has just started rolling out to initial devices. It’s still based on Android 16, but there are a host of visual changes, AI upgrades, and enhancements that make it feel like more than an incremental upgrade.

ColorOS 16.1 rollout progress and timeline

The ColorOS 16.1 update is currently rolling out to Oppo Find X9 series phones, with expansion to the Reno 15 series and the Find X8 series expected to follow soon. The upcoming Oppo Find X9s and Find X9 Ultra will boot the latest software out of the box.

Oppo has yet to announce a global rollout schedule for ColorOS 16.1. The rollout schedule for China has already been released, which suggests the update will only be released for a limited set of devices, mainly recent flagship phones and select mid-range phones. We’ll update you on the website when the global rollout schedule is announced.

ColorOS 16.1 update: New features and major upgrades

1. Live Space

It’s one of the biggest additions to ColorOS 16.1, which looks and functions similar to the Now Bar on Samsung phones. It’s a capsule-shaped UI element that sits at the bottom of the screen and displays ongoing activities, such as timers, music playback, food delivery tracking, and notifications.

You can tap a capsule to expand it for more controls, and swipe between multiple live activities to see updates without unlocking your phone or opening apps.

Live Space also works with Google Maps. You can tap the album art to expand it to full-screen mode, which offers more controls and real-time scrolling lyrics on the lock screen.

2. Contour Glow effect

ColorOS 16.1 brings the Contour Glow effect to Settings, adding a subtle shimmer animation around UI elements like Control Center toggles, lock screen widgets, and the search bar. You can enable or disable this feature anytime.

3. Redesigned Camera app

The Camera app receives several big upgrades with the ColorOS 16.1 update. It now features translucent layers, glossy blur effects, floating cards, and smoother transitions throughout the interface.

As Smartprix noted, the controls have been moved as well. EV and exposure controls now don’t sit together, and the swipe-up function from the viewfinder opens quick controls like aspect ratio, macro mode, action mode, and soft light. The Settings section now opens in pop-up cards instead of full-screen. Modes like Portrait and Text now use popup-style menus.

4. MindPilot AI

ColorOS 16.1 introduces MindPilot AI to Mindspace, a deeply integrated AI assistant to manage everyday contextual requests. It supports ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity models to ask questions and suggestions, with Mindspace content and integrations as context, for a more personalized response.

5. AI Bill Manager

The update also introduces a new AI Bill Manager to help you track your expenses. It can track expenses, income, daily averages, and monthly spending patterns.

You can manually add expense records and import older data from supported apps or use Excel and CSV files. Further, users can also set spending limits and ask the AI to get spending data.

6. AI Menu Translation

Those who frequently travel abroad would find this feature very helpful, as it instantly translates foreign languages through the camera. So, you don’t need to take the image and paste it into a translator app. The AI Menu Translation feature can also identify prices and convert currencies.

You can download the language packs, totaling about 518MB, for offline translation support. This new feature can also generate AI summaries during real-time conversations.

7. AI Home Screen Organization

The AI can also handle home screen organization, grouping apps by category (such as games, social media, music) or by icon color. The feature also saves layout history, so you can restore it later.

8. AI Document Scanning

The upgraded AI Document Scanning feature now filters out shadows, glare, blur, and distortion, resulting in better output. With upgraded capabilities, it can now recognize handwriting, long paragraphs, and tables more accurately.

Scanned docs are automatically saved in the Documents app and can be exported to Word or copied instantly.

9. Audio Sharing

ColorOS 16.1 adds support for Audio Sharing, allowing users to connect two audio devices at the same time. You can play the audio through both connected audio devices simultaneously. This feature works with earbuds and supported Audio devices.

All you need to do is connect the second audio device through the Audio Sharing menu.

10. Smoother animations

Oppo continues to refine animations to make it feel smoother and more polished, with ColorOS 16.1 taking it a step further. You’ll experience better animations with floating windows, app closing, and app opening. Scrolling inside apps also feels more refined with reduced jitters.

11. Quick Share with AirDrop support

Oppo has added AirDrop support to Quick Share on several devices running ColorOS 16.1. It allows users to share files with Apple devices without third-party apps. This feature is currently available on the Oppo Find X9 and Find X9 Pro.
