Samsung is preparing for the next Unpacked event, and it’s reportedly returning to San Francisco for one reason: to promote its AI growth story in the city, where this tech is storming.

According to a recent report, the Galaxy S26 series will launch in late February at the Unpacked Event, which is shifting from San Jose, which previously hosted the Galaxy S24 and S25 series in 2024 and 2025, respectively.

An official suggests that Samsung is returning the Unpacked event to San Francisco for the first time in three years, which is assumed as a perfect place to showcase new technologies in the era of AI smartphones.

San Francisco houses the world’s largest AI companies, including the ChatGPT maker OpenAI, Anthropic, Perplexity, xAI, and more. In contrast, SF hosts more than 100 AI startups overall. Since implementing Galaxy AI on a wider scale in 2024, Samsung has continuously focused on improving on-device AI processing to improve such features.

Moving from initial generative AI goals, Samsung is now focusing on multimodal AI to get fluent in text interpretation, speech, images, and videos for interactions. This upgrade is largely based on new chipsets with upgraded NPUs for maximum on-device computing, while providing low-latency for server-side AI such as Gemini Live and Circle to Search.

The improved power efficiency is also playing a major role in ensuring the limited battery consumption while offering these AI capabilities.

Samsung Galaxy AI

The Multimoal AI also simplifies the natural language understanding, making the everyday device interactions simpler than before. For example, Gallery search, in the recent versions of One UI, you can search for a photograph based on a description, and the app will fetch all of the related images.

The Galaxy AI currently has more than a dozen features, including writing assist, live translation, voice transcription, browsing assistance, AI photo editing, object removal, text-to-image generation, AI audio eraser, AI briefing, AI personalized health insights, and more.

This list of features will advance once again with the Galaxy S26 series, and Samsung will unveil its AI surprises at the next Unpacked event as it returns to San Francisco.

Samsung has decided on the Galaxy S26 series launch delay, and it may be the phone maker’s own fault, except for any external reason.

According to the Korean media, the company will host next year’s first Galaxy Unpacked event in San Francisco, USA, on February 25th. For the past few years, Samsung has been unveiling the S-series in late January or early February.

While the source remained unverified, this appears to be the most reasonable launch date on the face of Samsung’s current decision-making crisis. A Korean analyst believes that the last-minute plan change related to the upcoming devices has caused this stretch.

Previous information suggests that Samsung will revamp the S-series lineup in 2026. It is rumored to remove the standard and Plus variants, replacing these two with a Pro and the Edge models.

Earlier this year, the Korean phone maker unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge, a slim device with trimmed specs. The tech community and reviewers are divided on this phone. Some praised its lightweight and slim design, while others criticized its stripped camera count and small battery life.

These opinions have been echoed and amplified through social media. As a result, the phone has made decent sales in the home ground, but there’s not much enthusiasm among the global consumers.

Since the S25 Edge, rumors also indicated that the Galaxy S26 Plus won’t launch. So, its place will now be booked for the S26 Edge. Just recently, another Korean media reported that the Galaxy S26 Plus project is revived and the S26 Edge is getting canceled due to poor sales performance of its predecessor.

Samsung’s Fault

Most of the people on the internet couldn’t make up their mind about the S25 Edge due to toned-down specifications and a flagship-level price. Instead, the majority of consumers would go for an Ultra compared to opting for aesthetics.

On the opposite side, Samsung had accurate sales data for the S25 Edge, and the decision to readjust the S26 series lineup could have been made much earlier. Eventually, it may have saved this upcoming Galaxy flagship from this delay.

This step shows that Samsung has waited till recently to review the S25 Edge sales performance and decided to revert to the previous device strategy. So, yeah, this Galaxy S26 series launch delay blame goes to the lazy decision-making table.

Current device roadmap

The Galaxy S26 series is likely to bring a Pro, Plus, and an Ultra model. Another major change in this flagship will be the full-fledged return of the Exynos chipset.

Processed with a 2nm technology, Exynos 2600 could play a pivotal role in the Galaxy S26 devices. However, the company will also maintain its pact with Snapdragon and vary the CPU availability based on country and region.

For now, all of this information is speculation because the outlook for the Galaxy S26 series remains foggy and doubtful than any previous S-series smartphones.
