There are no Top 25 matchups this week on the national high school football scene as the game between the No. 1/SN No. 1 IMG Academy [Bradenton, FL] Ascenders and the No. 4/SN No. 4 St. Frances Academy [Baltimore, MD] Panthers – originally scheduled for Friday night – now appears to be in the process of being rescheduled for December 10. The game will have a major impact on the high school football national championship picture, and the schools appear to be moving the game to maximize exposure.

That means The Sporting News High School Football Game of the Week will now feature the Hamilton [Chandler, AZ] Huskies, ranked No. 25 in The Sporting News Composite Rankings, at the unranked Chandler [AZ] Wolves. Chandler is 8-1, however, and the Wolves' only loss was a 24-23 decision against the highly-regarded Cathedral Catholic [San Diego, CA] Dons early in the season.

It's coming down to the wire. Only three more games separate Florida's best high school volleyball programs from a title. 

Twenty-four teams across eight classes are still in the running for a Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) championship this fall. Some notable names still making a campaign are Winter Park (7A), Chiles (5A), Calvary Christian (3A) and Orangewood Christian (2A). 

Each of these programs are one crucial step closer to the trophy they've been chasing. Semifinal matches will decide who reaches the championship next week.

The Florida high school volleyball championships will not be available to watch on a national TV channel, but fans can stream games on the NFHS Network.

Nebraska is a state known for volleyball, but not just on the collegiate level. The Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) is hosting the 2025 high school playoffs this week.

After a long season of hard-fought competition, nearly 50 teams across six classes are entering the tournament bracket for a Nebraska championship. Many squads on MaxPreps' state rankings are still campaigning for a title, like Elkhorn North, Norris, Papillion-LaVista South and more.

After rounds of semifinals and quarterfinals earlier in the week, champions will be crowned this Saturday, Nov. 8. Get ready to watch it all unfold.

Earlier this week, we shared game predictions based on the Massey Ratings for the biggest high school football games of the weekend. Today, Rivals national high school sports reporter Andy Villamarzo makes his picks:

Summer Creek (TX) at North Shore (TX)

When: Friday, Nov. 7, 8 p.m. ET
Where: Turner Stadium, Houston, Texas

The best game down in Texas takes place when Summer Creek (8-1) faces off against North Shore (8-1) in a massive Lone Star State tilt. Both offenses have been sizzling this season, with Summer Creek is averaging a cool 53.7 points per game and North Shore at 52 a tilt. One of the defenses will need to make a play, but we have little doubts that this game won’t just turn into an offensive explosion between the two high-scoring offenses.

Prediction: North Shore 49, Summer Creek 48

Hoover (Ala.) at Phenix City Central (Ala.)

When: Friday, Nov. 7 at 8 p.m. ET
Where: Garrett–Harrison Stadium, Phenix City, Ala.

The Alabama Class 7A playoffs feature a bundle of really good first round games and this one is easily one of them when Hoover Buccaneers head over to Phenix City to take on the Central Red Devils (9-1). Hoover (6-4) has seen its offense be an up-and-down unit, but the Bucs own an impressive victory over Thompson during the regular season. The only loss Phenix City Central has had all season long came against No. 1 nationally ranked IMG Academy. We’ve got to ride with the home team on this one.

Prediction: Phenix City Central 40, Hoover 35

Bryant (AR) at Conway (AR)

When: Friday, Nov. 7, 8 p.m. ET
Where: Centennial Bank Field at John McConnell Stadium, Conway, Arkansas

Arkansas high school football doesn’t get the limelight much, but when they do, it usually involves the Bryant Hornets (9-0). Bryant makes their way over to face Conway Wampus Cats (8-1) for the regular season finale in what should be one of the best games in the Mineral State. The Hornets most challenging game was a 31-14 win over Newton of Georgia. Conway certainly has the talent to compete, but at the end of the day, there’s a reason why Bryant continues to own the state of Arkansas annually.

Prediction: Bryant 49, Conway 28

St. Augustine (La.) at John Curtis (La.)

When: Friday, Nov. 7, 8 p.m. ET
Where: Shrine on Airline, Metairie, La.

St. Augustine (8-1) meeting John Curtis (7-1) has to be like the Spiderman meme with both teams pointing at each because of their recent losses to Edna Karr. The Purple Knights have a potent offense that trots out a couple Division I prospects at wide receiver in junior four-star Miguel Whitley (35 catches, 655 yards) and three-star Ray’Quan Williams (26 catches, 562 yards). Though the Patriots are plenty capable of scoring the football themselves, we just think St. Augustine is going to be too much at the end of the day.

Prediction: St. Augustine 28, John Curtis 20

Vestavia Hills (Ala.) at Auburn (Ala.)

When: Friday, Nov. 7 at 8 p.m. ET
Where: Duck Samford Stadium, Auburn, Ala.

Another AHSAA Class 7A high school football playoff game in the Yellowhammer State this week that should be plenty good is when Auburn (8-2) and Vestavia Hills (8-2) clash. Both teams have impressed throughout the season, with each going into the playoffs on winning streaks. The Tigers are riding a three-game streak and the Rebels on a five-game winning streak. Vestavia Hills defeated Auburn earlier in the season, 42-14.

Prediction: Vestavia Hills 30, Auburn 24

American Fork (Utah) at Skyridge (Utah)

When: Friday, Nov. 7, 9 p.m. ET
Where: The Nest, Lehi, Utah

This UHSAA Class 6A quarterfinal matchup between Skyridge (9-2) and American Fork (7-4) is a rematch from the regular season, with the victory going to the former, 26-14. Both teams have contrasting styles of play as Skyridge looks to throw the ball more through the air and American Fork looks to keep the ball on the ground. The Falcons are on a mission to reach the 6A state championship and they get over a hurdle here on Friday night against the Cavemen.

Prediction: Skyridge 35, American Fork 17

Hamilton (Ariz.) at Chandler (Ariz.)

When: Friday, Nov. 7, 10 p.m. ET
Where: Austin Field, Chandler, Arizona

Hamilton (9-0) has looked nearly unstoppable offensively by one of the top Class of 2028 wide receivers in four-star talent Roye Oliver, who has hauled in 62 passes for 1,400 yards and 25 touchdowns. Chandler (8-1) lost their only game back in Week 2 of the season against Cathedral Catholic, but has reeled off seven straight victories. This Arizona regular season finale is easily the best game on the docket down in the Grand Canyon State.

Prediction: Hamilton 52, Chandler 28

St. Thomas More (Conn.) at Hun School (N.J.)

When: Saturday, Nov. 8, 1 p.m. ET
Where: The Hun School Athletic Complex, Princeton, N.J.

Hun School (7-3) and St. Thomas More (1-2) are both a couple of the best teams in their respective states. When looking at the last time the Chancellors played was back on Oct. 24 and it’s only the fourth time they’ve played this season against a Raiders group that just lost to IMG Academy last week, 31-13. St. Thomas More will look to 2026 four-star EDGE Alhassan Iddrissu to get after Hun School three-star quarterback Lukas Prock and create havoc.

Prediction: Hun School 31, St. Thomas More 14

St. John’s College (D.C.) at Gonzaga (D.C.)

When: Saturday, Nov. 8, 2 p.m. ET
Where: Buchanan Field, Washington, District of Columbia

One of the country’s most unique stadiums in Buchanan Field well play host in the nation’s capital between St. John’s College (6-3) and Gonzaga (5-4). The Cadets are coming off a 28-7 win over Bishop McNamara and look to make it consecutive wins since losing to DeMatha Catholic, 23-20, back on Oct. 24. The first-ever Oahu Interscholastic Association (OIA) Open Division title game will feature Kahuku (7-3) against Kapolei (7-4). Kahuku is one of Hawaii’s most winningest high school football programs as they started off with a 20-0 loss to St. Louis, but ended up winning seven of their next nine games. Only other two losses for the Red Raiders came against nationally ranked Bishop Gorman (Nev.) and Mater Dei (Calif.) as they’ve defeated all other Hawaii-based opponents, including Kapolei in a 21-7 decision. We give the Raiders the edge in this one as they come away with Hawaii’s first Open Division title.

Freshman QB Jadis Lefono should have more time to make plays against a Decatur front that’s not as dominant as the T-Birds one he faced a week ago. Decatur has been playing good football, though, winning three of its last four and keeping things tight in a loss to a good White River team two weeks ago. Decatur sophomore WR Scottie Dinwiddie can find the end zone at any time, but we think this matchup plays into the hands of Dave Miller’s squad and Lakes’ team speed. We’ll roll with the Lancers at Harry Lang.

Eastmont Wildcats (4-4) vs. Sumner Spartans (6-3)

One thing is certain at Sunset Chev Stadium when playoff football arrives: Sumner’s going to run the rock. Expect a heavy dose of Spartans RB Lance McGee when the Spartans host Eastmont in Friday’s winner-to-state playoff game. The three-star recruit has been one of the state’s top rushers this fall, handling a bellcow role (1,373 YDS, 22 TD) with college-level size and speed. And Sumner’s defense? HC Keith Ross and the Spartans have seen a resurgence since their blowout loss to Puyallup in Week 5, outscoring opponents 198-3 in four straight wins. Eastmont counters with a run-heavy offense — both QB Peyton Zelinski and RB Bodie Yale ran for 100+ yards and two touchdowns in a Week 8 loss to Enumclaw — but we think the defending champs punch their ticket back to the state bracket.

Peninsula Seahawks (6-3) vs. White River Hornets (9-0)

White River captured the Battle of the Bridge, 3A NPSL title, and undefeated regular season (9-0) all in one with last week’s win over Enumclaw, their first over their archrivals since 2007. Up next? A chance to reach the state tournament for the first time since 2013, when the Hornets played in 2A. QB Chaz Strickland has thrown 30 touchdown passes this fall, but the defense in Buckley continues to steal the show — allowing just 40 total points in nine games. Peninsula has won six of its last seven games under first-year head coach Clay Mauro, and it’s up to an offense powered by RB Jacob Martin (127-741-7) to keep this district playoff game close. We think White River’s defense does enough.

Gig Harbor Tides (6-3) vs. Sedro-Woolley Cubs (9-0)

2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8 at Sedro-Woolley High School

Gig Harbor felt it was underseeded and should’ve been hosting a Week 10 playoff game. The Tides will now have the opportunity to take out that frustration on the field on the road against Sedro-Woolley, the undefeated 3A Wesco North champion. Both teams are run-heavy: Sedro-Woolley has four players with over 100 rushing yards on the season; Gig Harbor’s Wing-T has produced five 200+ yard rushers this season, and six with over 100 yards. Gig Harbor has upset ability, but it’s tough to pick against an undefeated team at home.

Kentwood Conquerors (7-2) vs. Curtis Vikings (6-3)

7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7 at Curtis High School

Following their Week 4 loss to Kennedy Catholic, Kentwood stormed through five straight 4A NPSL rivals en route to a runner-up league finish. They’ll enter Friday night’s playoff game in University Place with momentum, where the Conquerors can clinch a state berth for the first time in four years. Curtis’ defensive line headlined by Division-I edge rusher Roby Lavata’i could pose problems for the run game, but Kentwood QB Brandon Tagle has flashed connections with WRs Romeo Cabansag (358 YDS, 6 TD) and Trevon Mayfield (450 YDS, 6 TD). Curtis features a two-man rushing attack between RBs Ryland Geldermann and Tyce Kinley behind one of the area’s bigger offensive lines. We’ll take the Vikings in their quest for three-straight state tournament appearances.

An incident that occurred during a Florida high school football playoff game on Friday night has led to police securing an arrest warrant for an 18-year-old player.

News4Jax reported on Tuesday afternoon that the Fernandina Beach Police Department now has an arrest warrant for a Bell High School player who struck a Fernandina Beach High School player at the end of a play on Friday night.

Video captured two players getting into a shoving match away from a play in the first round of the SSAA Atlantic State Championship. The Bell player got ahold of the Fernandina Beach player’s face mask. As the Fernandina Beach player began to pull away, his helmet came off. The Bell player then swung the helmet and struck the Fernandina Beach player in the face, sending him down to the ground:

The Bell player tossed the helmet after connecting and walked away as other Fernandina Beach players and coaches rushed onto the field. According to the report, there were multiple scuffles that ensued both on and off the field.

There were a pair of Fernandina Beach officers working at the game who helped gain control of the situation, per the report. Fernandina Beach PD then escorted the Bell bus and players off Amelia Island. On Monday, the Nassau County School District issued a statement praising how the Fernandina Beach team handled the situation:

“The incident at the conclusion of last Friday night’s football game between Fernandina Beach High School and Bell Middle/Senior High School, involving a Bell player pulling a FBHS player’s helmet off and striking him in the head with the helmet, has been reported to the Sunshine State Athletic Conference for investigation,“ the statement said.

“Bell Middle/Senior High School administration is aware of the incident and appropriate disciplinary consequences will be administered. The safety of our student athletes and proper sportsmanship are top priorities for all athletic programs at Fernandina Beach High School. We are proud of how our players, coaches, staff members, parents and fans represent the Pirate community. They are all to be commended for their response to what could have escalated into something much worse.”

Fernandina Beach won the game 48-21, moving on to the quarterfinals of the state tournament. The Pirates are scheduled to play Paxon School for Advanced Studies this Friday, Nov. 7.
