WhatsApp tests media draft feature on iOS, Android expected soon

8 February 2026 at 00:49

WhatsApp is testing a new feature on iOS that lets users save photo and video drafts, and it could soon be available for Android users as well. The feature is currently part of the WhatsApp beta for iOS version 26.5.10.73, available via TestFlight.

The new tool allows users to save photos and videos they are editing instead of sending them immediately. For example, if you crop a photo, trim a video, or add stickers and drawings, you can tap the β€œSave” button in the drawing editor. A message will confirm that your media has been saved, and it will appear in your Photos app among recent items.

Before this feature, users had limited options. You either had to send the media right away or lose all edits. Some people took screenshots to save their changes, but that lowered the quality. The new draft feature keeps all edits intact and in high quality, so you can finish and share your media later.

Although the feature is currently only being tested on iOS, WhatsApp plans to bring a similar tool to Android. WhatsApp’s Android users could soon save progress on photos, videos, or status updates, which makes it easier to edit and share media without starting over.

After testing, WhatsApp will make this feature available for all users. Once it becomes available on Android, the photo and video drafts feature will make sharing edited media simpler, faster, and more convenient for everyone. Stay tuned for more information.

6 February 2026 at 18:22

An armored character holding a sword appears next to bold text announcing '1.5 million copies sold'.

Ori developer Moon Studios took a big swing with No Rest for the Wicked, choosing to make something outside of its 2D platforming comfort zone and instead direct its talents into making an action RPG. After its initial early access launch in May 2024, it was clear that the game had a lot of unrealized potential, and the time to realize that potential as an early access game. Now, over a year and a half later, during which the game has seen more than a few significant updates, the most recent being a co-op update that went live last month, […]

One mechanic that Embark Studios uses to keep players engaged in ARC Raiders is the game's Expeditions, which are essentially a big reset for your Raider. Things like your Workshop, player level, skill points, blueprints, coins, quests, and stash upgrade progress all get reset, letting you start again with new rewards and buffs to make your next round of Topside visits all the more intriguing. What makes Expeditions interesting to complete (and what helps keep players logging onto ARC Raiders each day) is that you have a limited amount of time to prepare for them, with Expeditions running on a […]

ARC Raiders’ Dominance Continues, Reportedly Stands as Top-Selling Game Across Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation for Third Consecutive Month

3 February 2026 at 23:24

Two characters in a battle against a large robotic creature in a dusty urban setting from the game Immortals of Aveum.

The meteoric rise and sustained success of Embark Studio's new third-person extraction shooter, ARC Raiders, will be one for the history books of the video game industry if things keep going the way they are currently going. A new report from Alinea Analytics claims that for the third consecutive month, ARC Raiders was the number one selling title across Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox. That month was, of course, January 2026, during which Alinea Analytics says ARC Raiders sold an additional 1.5 million copies just on Steam. On PlayStation and Xbox, it combined for an additional 1.7 million copies sold, bringing […]

β€œThat Sucks. What Are We Learning?”: New Report Reveals How Obsidian Looks to Bounce-Back After Two Commercial Misses in 2025

3 February 2026 at 20:06

A collage of characters from Obsidian Entertainment games with the 'Obsidian entertainment' logo in the center.

Obsidian Entertainment was one of the busiest studios in 2025, releasing not just one, but three major titles last year. It began the year with Avowed in February 2025, followed by Grounded 2 releasing in early access in July 2025, and capped off the year with The Outer Worlds 2 in October 2025. Two of those three games were misfires in terms of sales (though they were fairly well received by critics, especially here on Wccftech), and a new report from Bloomberg digs into how the studio is looking to bounce back and "reinvent itself." If you can't guess which […]
